- Today we try the language challenge Urdu vs Farsi (Persian) and came across many similarities between the two languages. This maybe due to the fact that both Urdu and Persian are classified as Indo-European languages.
Persian is mainly spoken in countries like Iran, Afghanistan and Tajikistan while Urdu is primarily spoken in Pakistan and parts of India, Bangladesh, Nepal, the Middle East.

Great video Amir jan!! 👍☺
Thank you so much Bahador jan! I really appreciate it ☺️☺️
Bahador you sound like Rahim Khan from Kite Runner.😂 "Very good Amir Jan"
In Turkish, dar means thight and we called "dar" so same sound, we called çehre for chehra, we called zemin for zameen, we called tamam or tamamiyle for tamaam, we called bağ for bagh. Pronouns are almost the same. If a Turkish hears, he can easily understand. Love from Turkey:)
Also "Talha" is same, there are too many people whose name is Talha.
Wow that’s so interesting! 😮
Zameen means Land in Bengali too
chehra means face in bengali too
n Talha is a common muslim name 😂😍
Demir Han Talha is not that common, at least in istanbul
Ummmha
This one was good. Tamam also means end in Urdu, and Khushki does mean dryness in urdu.
Persian (Farsi) is such a sweet language. My father used to speak but it has now been omitted from our courses in schools.
shoaib zaheer why
@@Gutians A contributing factor could also be that in Pakistan, they tend to use more Arabic words now than before just take "Allah Hafiz" for example. It is an unusual hybrid word that doesn't exist in Arabic or Persian yet it is used to imply one's religiosity.
@City Skyline urdu was made the national language due to two main reasons.
1. Pakistan is home to 72 languages and had we taken the largest language i.e: Punjabi it could have been seen as a sign of favouritism so Urdu was chosen.
2. Historically Urdu was seen as the language of the muslims of the subcontinent as even though the muslims didn't create it, it was because of them that urdu rose in popularity thus making it the official language of a state in the subcontinent which was now home to majority of the muslims of the subcontinent was the only sensible thing to do
Aaram means simply rest 😂
Oh my God.. I could understand 90% of Persian words and 100% Urdu words ..I'm from India and I Know Hindi.. now I know there are a lot of words in hindi arrived from Persian language
Hindi and Urdu 95%are same
Rakesh Debnath Yup, thats cuz they’re the same language. And yes the two biggest languages which influenced Hindustani are Sanskrit and Persian
@Sick Beats ok
@@shamsher2652right they don't know perfect Hindi🤣

@@AntiFurryNatio nah hindi has sanskrit whereas urdu has persian arabix influence not all words are understandable
hey, tamman also means "the end" in Urdu.. like "kaam tamman"!
Love both Urdu and Persian language and also Persian is parent language to Urdu language love from Michigan USA 🇺🇸
So his Urdu is not perfect otherwise, he would have got every word right. But he did well. Great video Amir and Talha 😊
Nadir Shirazi not every,

@@hussaindaud1260 Punjabis know better urdu than rest of pakistanis Pakhtoon sindhis have own accents Where so called muhajir urdu speaking had own bihari bengali marathi gujrati as mother tongue
Tamaam in Urdu can be used to mean the "end" as well but mainly in poetic Urdu. But its usually used as "the whole thing" or "the entire thing"
Thanks for your comment Shamyl! :)

“Dar” in Spanish is a verb which means “to give”.
Alvaro Favela en lenguaje Romanos DAR es PERO, y regalo
Yes
i'm persian but i know basic urdu communication
Oh wow thats cool!
Like we say "qissa tamam which means story ended
Tamaam means all
Tamaam means end as well. for example, 'kaam tamaam hona' meaning 'met the end' or 'kaam tamaam kar dia' meaning 'ended something/someone'.
In Turkish it means OK
also in arabic it means all , so it comes to an end
and there’s nothing left
Tamaan means end, but tamaame is all
Tamam is actually from arabic meaning complete so it fits both meaning. End = completed and many/everyone= complete as in no one was left out.
Thanks for the info Ashar! :)
It don't think this is pure arabic.
Tamaam also means end
true, sometimes when we are angry we say I will end you- tamaam kar du ga
Do another one
The iranian boy is actually good-tempered❤❤❤
Urdu and Persian seem to be equal because Hindi and Persian are mixed in Urdu. At one time Persian was the official language of India. So there are many Persian influences in many languages of India. Urdu is one of her. It is an official language of Pakistan and is widely used in India and elsewhere.
Anirban Chaudhury lol. Hindi and Urdu are the same Languages
You should study more. something about world history and language. Even your general knowledge is so poor.
Hindi ?? what is hindi their is no such thing are hindi language.
Its same as Urdu.
More like an improper form of Urdu sentence structure vise.
lot of love from iran
Bolchi vs farsi
Good idea 👍👍
Balochi and Farsi are quite similar
same as dari vs farsi
It means many too
Thanks Hamza! :)
Tamaam also in arabic and Turkish
Salam .. I enjoyed watching this video, I can't tell you how happy I am because I'm learning new words in Farsi .. Mutshakaram.
Loved it ❤👌
I love playing with words!Really enjoy this versatility of languages and guess it would be great fun if I were there as I can understand the connections among persian, urdu, bangla, hindi! Carry on....♥
they are so cute! do a part three!!!
Aww thank youuu ❤️
Talha cheema is jutt he himself doesn't know proper urdu.. i think you should have invited some pure speaker.
I will be inviting different people next time :)
Amir Tavassoly he is fine. But in urdu tamam also means complete, end etc
Amir Tavassoly invite some Pashtuns from Afghanistan or Pakistan :)
TheIronMan987 yeah I agree , his Urdu is fine and even nowadays urdu- speakers don't have that much grasp as our forefathers had, I am Urdu speaker and my Urdu is good but that guy hasn't done a bad job, in earlier video he wasn't good though but thats the problem with pakistanis being raised in foreign countries
Aisha SK how does speaking Urdu is akin to being punjabized ?
Good . At the time of nationalized silos, such talks brings in spirit of global village. Keep it up! Would love one on Punjab/Persian
That's an amazing video, make more videos like that on Urdu and Persian
Wow amazing video bro! I speak Azeri and don't know Persian very well but I have a Pakistani friend who speaks Urdu and I got like almost all the words except golabi. I'm fascinated by the similarities between Urdu, Persian, and Azeri. Keep up the great work since I just subscribed!
'araam' is normally used as a verb and to say 'to slow down', 'to calm down', 'to rest', 'to chill' etc. But to describe the feeling of calmness/peacefulness, the word used is 'sukoon'.
Tamaam means more like "whole" or "entire"
Gulaab means rose Gulaabi means like a rose meaning the implication over here is => red color.
I'm from Bangladesh and learned hindi Language from tv and hindi and urdu to me seems like 98% similar... So basically also understand urdu... But from both persian and urdu there are soo many word that are so similar to Bengali... Wow... Language is really an amazing thing... So far yet so close...
Peace!
Yes because bollywood never speaks hindi. They speak hindustani which is a mixture of hindi and urdu. Actual hindi would be very difficult for u to understand..
in Indian TV it is not pure Hindi, it is "Urduized Hindi" to reach a wider audience, if you want to listen to somewhat pure Hindi just listen to some BJP politicians or listen to Amitabh Bachan's show.
@@m4f33x there is no such thing as urduised hindi..its hindustani.
Persian and kashmiri are so similar, it's almost scary(in a good way). Sometime back i was watching a farsi movie and i could make out some of the phrases they were speaking, to the point where they sounded almost kashmiri, even the inflection. It was so cool. At one point in the movie the protagonist is out side the door of his ailing father and is screaming 'baba darwaz khol'. It's basically kashmiri. Awesome.
Tohu chhu varey ?

Can you also do Pashto and Farsi?

Good Job Bro Keep it Up!
Hey why don’t you do draw my life challenge and Q and A please btw just found you out and now subscribed. You seems funny and kind person :)
But in Urdu, people do say "Kaam Tamam" meaning "Work is finished/ended/done" (Kaam = work)
Funny thing is in Bengali, we use the word "Khushki" to mean "dandruff" or "scurf", i.e. flakes on skin surface (it was probably adopted because it's caused by the dryness of skin).
Hahaha that’s so interesting! In Farsi work is “karaam” and “Kushti” means to wrestle
Amir Tavassoly "Kushti" also means wrestling in Bengali but I was actually talking about "Khushki" i.e. dryness - the word you had in the video. In Sanskrit, work is "karm" cognate with Persian.
Ohhh yes you're right! Sorry I read it as "kushti" haha I dont know why 😂😂😅😅
Hi Ashraf, using Khushki as dandruff makes sense to us as Persians, basically the scalp becomes dry and may be itchy and makes Dandruff!
It is really nice to learn the words from relative languages.
Yes, it is a truly fascinating subject. And it indirectly teaches you so much about a culture and its history.
Hey Amir, great video! Please could you tell us the name of the song you play towards the end of the video?? Thanks! :D
Thank you so much! 😊 the song is called Aromaam by Eddie Attar
Thanks! Your videos are really cool! Bringing cultures together by finding similarities, may God bless you. From a brother in London, UK :)
amir jan the word "del" does not mean stomach, it means heart. However, people in Iran are misusing it.
Hello Amir .... Happy Norooz and new year! Wish you and your family all the best in this year🎆🎈🎇🎊🎉
Hello! Thank you so much for your kind wishes 😊Happy Norooz and new year to you too and your family. Wishing you and your loved ones a year filled with happiness and good health 😆🎊🎉🎈💚

That was wonderful
Thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed it :))
What’s ur outdo music called? I really like it
Aroomam by Eddie Attar :)
It's so weird, I thought Hindi had a load of Persian loanwords but Persian too has a lot of Sanskrit loanwords, some of which are doublets in Hindi/Urdu (different words but with same roots)! Great videos!
They're most likely cognates as Sanskrit and Old Persian shared the same roots.
i liked this video. It was fun amir jaan
Hi Amir, the similarities are because Urdu borrowed heavily from Dari Persian of Afghanistan during Mughal times. The Indo-Iranian part is there in the background too, but those terms are not so easily apparent
Hey Amir I just recently discovered your channel and I have to say your content is really really nice! Just love the fact that you bring people from all over the world :) keep doing this man, wishing you the best!
Btw same word in Urdu and Farsi can give me brain freeze sometimes when I hear it in Farsi :P I guess it’s the specific pronunciation which makes it sound different.
Heyy Chowdhury!! Thank you so much for your heartfelt comment, I really appreciate it 😊and hahaha yes you're right, same thing happens to me when I hear it in Urdu :P Hope you have a great day/night :))
Tamam also means complete in urdu like kaam tamam meaning work done complete. So it does mean final.
Lol I speak both languages because my mom is from iran and my dad is from Pakistan
Every single word is the same in Kurdish
GOOD VIDEO BRO BTW NOROOZ MOBARAK
Farsi is a pure langauge and is very old. Whereas Urdu is an artificial language which was made up by mixing many langauges and dialects and it's very new.
Khushki means dryness
Just so you know. Urdu has been made up by many languages which mainly include Arabi and Farsi. Alot of words that you used could easily be guessed but Talha's Urdu In not really good. But you guys did it Really Good❤
Literally all the words were the same enjoyed this thanks ;)
Bagicha means garden in Nepali.
Most of the more here are similar in Nepali too
yooo, Baghicha means garden in Urdu as well, we just shorten it to Bagh
Del=heart in Farsi too
Yeah Amir really missed the boat on that one
Love watching these
Thank you!
Do Persian Vs Kashmiri
Will do it in the future! :)
What a nice guy.. God bless you both.. Funny again 👍
It should be Persian (Farsi) vs Hindustani (urdu)
What's the difference between Hindustani Urdu and Pakistan Urdu
1:00 pure Surprise on his face "how d you know that?!" 😂😂 🤌💙
del in persian also means heart.EX: deldar, delroba.. however, people misuse the word in Iran.
So many similarities between Farsi and Urdu.
Dar and darwaza both are used in Urdu . means door . as in other Pakistani languages . In Sindhi " dar " is mostly used and darwazo .
This is wonderful! I am Kashmiri Hindu from India, and we have a common word in Kashmiri and Persian- cloud(obur in Kashmiri and abr in Persian)
Kashmiris say Khoshki for dryness. :)
Also, our elders say "sabz" for green and "syah" for black haha.
One more word- hendvyend in Kashmiri and hendvaane in Persian for watermelon.
Nafar(someone or somebody in Kashmiri and I guess it is same in Persian too)
Kooshish(meaning to try or create an effort; same in Persian lol)
Aab (river water in Kashmiri and water in Persian)
Cheshme(in Persian meaning spring or a water body)
Kashmiri- Cheshm
I could recall only these but there are many more too! :)
I am Uzbek after the video. I know that i understand urdu more than persian people hahahaha
Both the languages are really near to my heart
LOL.... Amir jan is right about the meanings of تمام (end/complete) and آرام (slow). In Urdu پلہ means scale (میزان) but is also used for stairs in literature; کفش is also used in proper Urdu. May be Bahador jan can correct me. This is fun :) and Canada is cold :p
Tamam in Urdu means whole , all , but in Arabic it is final , end ultimate .When we borrow a word from another language , its sense changes.
In Persian DEL means heart and stomach not only stomach. Like delam barat tang shode
could you do more skits amir!!! do some skits for nowruz
in Urdu *tamam* also means "end/finished" like zindagi tamam hoti ha(life ends)
n other meaning is complete /all

I loved this. The Arabic influences are heavy. I had forgotten that naranja (Spanish) came from naranji!
Tamam doesn't mean a lot in Urdu. It means All.
DEL IS ALSO HEART IN PERSIAN commmooooon

“Dar” means “give” in spanish :)

In Urdu delbar means sweetheart

I've noticed so far from these videos that urdu is actually softer in pronunciation then farsi bit surprising tbh as we always thought farsi was had softer pronunciation great video tho loving each one of them please keep them coming 😜❤❤
