What a privilege it must be to receive coaching from Maestro Zander. He's absolutely brilliant.

So inspiring ! Witnessing how the spirit of Bach enters into the correctly performed music text is the true joy. This is another special example for performing all music of this amazing genius, for whom compositional technique was just a method of achieving the supreme goal - creating emotional resonance. And Maestro Zander is the gift to this world that impacts young musicians with much generosity. ❤️ Nothing can describe this composer better than saying Bach invented Jazz

Wow! What a class! Zander runs around his student like a squirrel waiting for the next (musical) nut!

Loved how he mentioned the "Swingle Singers" at @11:18. That group is amazing with brilliant jazz arranges of Bach's works.

I know "it's the player-not the instrument" but what a viola tone! Anyone know who the maker is?

Is it just me, or is it rather large as far as violas go?

@@ur.kr.2814 It looks a little big, but not compared to most professional violas

Stressful - seems he wasn't prepared to play it that fast. Good job though.

I find his bow hold unusual... he lifts his pinkie from the bow quite often and has his fingers quite cramped together.

It looks like a more Russian bow hold. The Russian school of teaching is often evident in these little physical traits. Contrast the bow hold with the Franco-Belgian one. Super fascinating.

Ben, you don't believe in GOD???? How can you not? HIS very breath is in this music, especially Bach..."To the Glory of GOD" Ponder that....my prayers for you to find HIM....your enriched life will be even more so....

You should take your meaningless doctrine somewhere else, also Bach never wrote "glory to the god" anywhere, so try and stop spouting pretentious ignorance. He instead wrote "soli deo gloria" which basically means "this is not my glory it's god's" and that only shows us Bach's great humility. Hope you try to be more understanding to other people's beliefs instead of being an asshole to people on internet because they don't believe your god.
