Yes because apparently traditional folk singing tecniques means it's "just screeching/shouting/sour".

The final was amazing I crossed my arm and legs for them to win, her vocals was much better this time, even I thought she was not that bad last time either... BUT yes, finally something norwegian from Norway

Love that we (Norwegian here😊) sent a contribution to ESC in one of our native languages this year. I always adore the strong ethnic/cultural contributions we often get from Eastern Europe. I love that Norway did something similar this year.

I think Norway's made a good choice, it's a great entry and her vocals were fine, it's not like it was shit and off-key, so I don't see how people can complain

The lyrics are inspired by a poem from the viking age, about a person that's cursed to be a wolf, but they can become human again if they drink their brothers' blood. They kill their pregnant mother, and therby drink their brothers' blood, and become human again.
The intro and refrain is a "kulokk" from the 1800s, which was used to call catlle in for feeding time at the farms in upper Telemark (a county in Norway).
    Glad you liked the song:)

Thank you for sharing with such a cheering attitude, son 🤩 I am Norwegian and very happy as well, that this song won! ♥️ In my opinion, Keeino has lost their magnificent "saami"-sound and their head vocalist is rather a bit annoyingly high tuned, as their change has turned out to be. I am disappointed by Keeino but amazed by Gåte

Hi Quinto ESC - please react to one of the *live performances* for the german national final.
*Bodine Monet - Tears Like Rain | live at Humberto*
She is one of the reasons, why Germany is so good in the Tops. She gives me "Emmelie de Forest" and "Rosa Linn" vibes.

I find the lyrics very demonic. I'm Norwegian.
    [Verse 1]
I was such a beautiful maiden
My stepmother evil, my mother she died
She turned me into a sword and a needle
And sent me to the king's estate
And the anger my stepmother felt the most
That all the stately liked me best
    [Chorus: Vocalization]
    [Verse 2]
Then she gave me skin like a grey wolf
She cursed me to walk the forest alone
And never will I bе whole and good
Before I drink my brothеrs' blood
    [Chorus: Vocalization]
    [Outro: Vocalization, Storm]
I then tore out her heart
    So her blood flowed free
Then I got to drink my brothers' blood
This is the new text. The original text was even darker containing rape!

I disagree with your interpretation. I can see how text might seem demonic to modern people, but it's medieval, and anything truly demonic would have been banned in a norwegian christian society.
I got hooked on this song and had to do some research myself.
Ulveham is inspired by the Norwegian medieval ballad «Møya i ulveham». There are many variations of this ballad from the Norwegian county Telemark.
Gåte's lyrics in Ulveham is based on the first part:
A young maiden is transformed by her evil stepmother into a needle, a knife and a sword.
The good disposition of the maiden prevails, even if she is a transformed being,
and all the most virtuous people appreciate the needle, the knife and the sword.
To punish the maiden even more severely, the stepmother then turns her into a wolf
and curses her to walk alone in the forest until she has drunk her brother's blood.
Which is where the text of Ulveham ends.
The middle age ballad has a more disturbing ending than Gåte's lyrics:
After a while, the stepmother is having a child.
The transformed wolf attacks the stepmother on her way to church, and drinks her heart's blood.
Thus the curse is broken, and the virgin stands forth and is just as good.

No, she sings in gammelnorsk too (old Norwegian) cuz some of these lyrics dont make sense in nynorsk. Only gammelnorsk. But some Are in nynorsk. Hilsen nordmann :)

    • @ysteinfjr7529
      @ysteinfjr7529 Před 4 měsíci +1

"Låtens tekst var hentet fra vers nedskrevne på 1800-tallet" (fra VG 02.02.2024) Some words in the text may be difficult to understand because it's archaic Nynorsk or Landsmål. Gammelnorsk (Old Norse/Old West Norse) is what they spoke in Viking times. They also had to make a new text, but based on the same story or theme. Hilsen en annen nordmann.

    • @erlesten
      @erlesten Před 4 měsíci

Yes, I confirm that it is in Nynorsk. Some words are a bit conservative, but it is definitely not Gammalnorsk (Old Norse). Helsing enda ein nordmann

@@josepsendrasendra9575you really should lay off the internet😂 or get your ears checked. Euphoria! Lol. It won the MGP, so obviously the audience found it interresting. Something tells me that you're not the joy and life of any party😂
