    Just thought I'd note for anyone else stumbling across this video in July 2022 or later, this absolutely works on the LG 34WQ500 ultrawide IPS monitor I bought today from a box store with two "Bs" in the name. (Gotta support local stores, you know, if you'd like there to continue to be a place where you can get it RIGHT now.) Like the video says, Gsync does NOT show up in Nvidia control panel until you go into your monitor settings and turn Freesync on. Then Gsync shows up. Turn it on. And then, OMG! It WORKS! And its nice. You can tell its working by spinning around in an area that has straight lines like windows. The window frames should remain straight. No broken lines. It should do that regardless of the FPS count. Its awesome. Thanks J for making it easy. Thanks Nvidia for this hush hush feature. Sure looks like they made Gsync work with Freesync, at least with what LG is doing. In 2022 on a chea. . . inexpensive monitor.

    • @Chris-tf7gi
      @Chris-tf7gi Před rokem

      Think I'll also mention I took J's advice from about a week ago to 'GO NOW' and get a graphics card. Now I have an RTX 3080 TI I bought below MSRP. New. Very happy I did. The RTX 2060 that served me well through the past couple years with honor . . . IS STILL plenty useful for 1080p all day long. Yeah. Pretty happy right now. Don't really care that the next shiny thing will be better. There is always a next shiny thing. I don't have a crystal ball, but I suspect I got a hella bang for the buck on my RTX 3080 TI. And it'll possibly be my main card for 5 years. At least. It loves running the ultrawide monitor I bought today.

    Hey Jay - it looks to me like G-SYNC wasn't actually active in the video. You didn't tick the "Enable settings for the selected display model" checkbox. Without that ticked, you're just running standard VSYNC on or off
    On these LG panels it shows you the current refresh rate in the OSD. If you get into a game and the FPS is between 1 and 144 it should reflect in Hz on the monitor OSD

      @jepulis6674 Před 5 lety +3

      @@jepulis6674 ,
      Only if the game FPS output exceeds the refresh rate do you need to limit to say 140FPS. At 144Hz VSYNC ON it should be so minimal latency it doesn't really matter at that point though.

      @@marcusciantar3407 that's how things go, I guess :) I've noticed that many CZcams channels turn to shit once they get enough subs. I guess you do your best to deliver great content and people sub, but by the time you hit several hundred thousands, you've got nothing left to tell - everything useful was already covered. For instance, all the best vids about liquid cooling were shot like 3-5 years ago on this channel. Since then, there are just "new builds" - nothing worth watching, especially since there're plenty of modders who make far more impressive builds. That's just a pop-scene of PC-building nowadays :)

      @@Drknight1212 Wow, thanks for calling me out though. Let me just tell you why you are wrong (and rude, but who cares, really): when you are looking at any new high-end stuff, you are expecting it to be pricey and there are good reasons for it. You want 34 inch? OK, that costs something. You want 100+ ghz RR? OK, that also costs something. Can I interest you in a top-notch IPS pannel with stunning colors / latency / HDR / proprietary technologies / multiple other options / software that lets you customize your behemoth? Sure, but that costs money, man.
      If someone is trying to get you an alternative, he's not going head-to-head to compare it to a 10x less expensive screen, because they simply are UNCOMPARABLE and hence this does NOT provide you an alternative, you are NOT talking comparison, you are looking for a DIFFERENT product that has only visual resemblence with the one in the video above (e.g. both appear to be screens connecting to a PC).
      Rest assured, you can just go to amazon, select monitor category and put up a filter for whichever price tag you want and look up what actually fits your need, there are items on sale everyday there, i'm sure you can look up a good deal and read reviews which are actually meant toward people looking for items in that price range as opposing to this video, honestly.
      Again, if still unclear, not trying to be rude, trying to be reasonable. Am using a 10 year-old 24 inch dell panel myself, but because I've seen the LG monitors in person and in this video, I simply know better than to recommend my screen over those above, even though it does what I paid for it.

      So take this with a grain of salt as this is my first "gaming" monitor type of deal.
      However, i got the 32" for $350 from microcenter and I love it. It feels like an amazing value at that price point, and I've now converted 3 grown ass lifetime console gamers with a mix of the monitor and PC performance. I've got 1486 hours on mine at the time of this writing and I've got no complaints. If you have any specific questions, I can try to answer them, but obviously lots of things are subjective.
      Edit: ok. I dont like the red accents, that's my only real gripe. An optional little black attachment to cover the red on the legs or something similar would be amazing, I'm probably going to end up using a damn sharpie.
