Europapa was the real winner of Eurovision! Greetings from Slovenia.

It is heartwarming how the artists, the crowd , the Eurovision fans, CZcamsrs support Joost.
Thank you all for this! This helped him a lot. ❤❤❤

The translation really didn't do the parody justice, so I went back and listened a bunch of times and this is what I came up with for translation:
    CHORUS:
    We have left Europe
    EBU screwed Joost over there
    Fuck off, bye bye
    Fuck off, bye bye
    We have left Europe
    What a shitfest over there
    Fuck off, bye bye
    Fuck off, bye bye
    VERSE:
    It seemed so nice
    to perform in Sweden
    Together with a blue bird
and someone else for some reason
    He was filmed
"Hey, if you do that one more time, eh!"
    Then all Swedes went
    "Yeah, that's not right, eh!"
    An investigation
    And then Joost was screwed
    The IKEA judges
    have a screw loose
    Thrown out for this reason
    Excuse me?
Didn't think it could get more tone deaf
than after Mia & Dion _^note_
    CHORUS
Fuck off, bye bye bye bye bye bye bye
Fuck off, bye bye bye, hey!
Fuck off, bye bye bye bye bye bye bye
    Fuck. Off. Bye. Hey!
_^note_ 'vals' translates to both 'out of tune' and 'mean'. So they're dissing on 2023's Dutch entry for singing out of tune, but also calling the decision mean.

The closest similarity to "vals" in English is "tone deaf",
But it has a less malicious and mean connotation.

@@BramLastname Didn't think of that one, good call. I just made a quick translation whilst still watching the video, so it's nice to have some feedback. I'll adjust it, as it's more fitting, but I'll keep the note as it still fits

the weird thing is that left europa does not make sense at all because the Netherlands is not planning on leaving europa and we did not left europa.
so that is a mistranslation in my opinion. because it makes everyone think we Netherlands are leaving europe....

    • @BramLastname
      @BramLastname Před 19 dny +1

@@MellaniePlays I mean if we translate it more literally it's "We're out of Europe (now)"

I think the most recent news now is that the Dutch made an official complaint on friday, before the DQ, about that an deligation was causing issues and an unsafe feeling. But EBU did nothing with it. Other news is that multiple countries filed compaints, and also that multiple countries did even threaten to pull out so bad was it. But in the public, most things are still unknown and will likely never get known to us
Oh and an artist from 2022 did say that the envoirment was in 2022 also not great backstage. It seems to be worse this year, but even on "better" years thing seem to be bad

The more sarcastic non subtle humor skits are an very Dutch thing 😅 not meant in a bad way, and this was just an short skit in an longer show

That translation has issues with things like our Dutch cursewords xD (And with the Mia and Dion pun) Also yes, this was definitely a critique to the EBU!
And I feel like most of us here in NL think as you say, that he should just have performed/ or they should have shown his semi finals performance instead of a DQ with no proof yet. (And we see AVROTROS as a reliable news outlet.) They can always DQ afterwards.
All I know is that S10 has also come out about the vibe backstage, and that AVROTROS had already made complaints about the vibe backstage both before and after Thursday. Like some other countries have done as well.

So a talk show in the Netherlands RTL Boulevard was showing a video and say that the delegation of Israel was bullying Joost, saying Joost doesnt want to be filmed and you see them filming behind his back.
Israel has something to do with this song contest.
Im not sure or its true but something like that they said.

It was a pretty funny parody, but difficult for a non Dutch speaker to understand. However, I think that the general feeling in The Netherlands is that the EBU screwed Joost for virtually nothing, smashed his long time dream and we all like to know how he’s doing. I personally don’t know anyone that does not feel sorry for Joost, although many of them don’t really care about ESC.
There has never been a more popular ESC song than Europapa in this country. It was played on churchbells, in nursery homes, kindergartens etc. Someone on social media said: Joost succeeded to bring this country together, and now we are together in our anger towards the EBU. That’s a good description of the current sentiment here.

The subtitles were terrible! "Pleur op, dag" doesn't mean "Flur on day" but should have been translated with "Sod off, bye!" And these weren't the only errors.

"Pleur op, dag dag" basically translates to "F*ck off/Get lost, bye bye!" (I'm dutch myself) referring to EBU's stance towards Joost and that he should just f*ck off and leave. The parody skit here is built on the bullsh*t Joost got from EBU. A bunch of dutch cusses and references we ere lost in translation here.

🤣Funny that you have found this.
This is a very highly-rated program on Sunday night for honest but direct commentary, 'the Dutch way'. Mix of satire and social and political commentary and family entertainment.
The automatic translation is very bad:
"We are out of Europe, EBU screwed Joost there, fuck off bye bye, fuck off bye bye, An investigation and then Joost was screwed, the Ikea jury members have a screw loose. Thrown out for this reason, beg you pardon? I thought that after Mia and Dion it really couldn't become more false."
False in Dutch hads double meaning as in 'singing out of tune' but also 'being mean'
With some reference to the general opinion in Netherlands on the performance of last year's entry.
12 points for Niels, Jeroen en Miguel! Although Miguel is from Belgium and has to endure quite some abuse in the show as a cringe metaphor for bad behaviour towards immigrants.
