There's one error, the winner does not have to host it next year, the winner will be the first one offered the opportunity to host and no winner has declined the opportunity since 1980, because every winning country really does want to host.
There was a few years in the 2000s where more countries took it less serious, but we're past that, every country does actually want to win, but some does care more than others of course.
There's not many who declined before 1980 either, most were countries winning two times in a row and not wanting to host two years in a row.

@@mervinmannas7671 Yeah, since no winner has declined in such a long time and since it's an argument people like to make when claiming certain countries doesn't even want to win, a lot of people doesn't know that the winning country has a choice.

on defense of the audience the year england got 0...brexit wasnt the only cause...other 3 countries got zero audience points. the presenters were about to have a breakdown after announcing zero points one after the other. literally. the for countries with zero points were already the 4 last ones. But the reason was, other 4 countries got a massive amount of points, in fact 2 the jury had left pretty sunken and the audience literally had them one after the other in first position until the next country got points. so that was the explanation, people were hiperfocused on voting for those ones. for once it was fair and squared justified
tbh it was one of the most unhinged and exciting votes time in years, and that is also apreciated XD

Glad to see that also Indians are starting to notice the greatness that is Eurovision! :) As an European, I've loved it since childhood, it was always a great event in my family, and us kids were always allowed to stay up late that night :) Only sadly, my country, Finland, always used to do badly in my childhood (often undeservedly)... Happily, these days we are doing better, though sometimes rigged & corrupt juries get in our way of winning the whole show, like last year (2023). Oh, and the time we did win the contest with Lordi (those monster masked men) in 2006 was one of the happiest nights of my life ;D BTW, the video is wrong in that everybody actually *does* want to host (except maybe Ireland in the 90's, but that's an exception), so I assure nobody sends bad songs on purpose!!

The info should be updated now that Sweden won the contest in 2023. That means that Ireland and Sweden are tied with the same number of winning (both 7 triumphs each).also both have one artist winning twice, ireland a man and Sweden a woman (Loreen won in 2012 and 2023)

Actually Johny Logan won three times. Ireland winning song 1992 Why Me is written by Johny Logan.

Sweden "won" undeservedly, for sure. Won because of rigged juries. Finand was the real winner, hands down.

Sweden won 2023 ....so the competition will be held in Sweden. In the city of Malmö (close to Denmark) 11th of May 2024.
New is also that you actually also can vote for your favourite from India! (or from whatever country). So actually , you can do as many of us do here in Europe .Gather friends and family for a night long with lots of fun, love ,craziness and very good music.....eat and discuss together or just enjoy this incredible show. Because YES Eurovision is broadcasted so you can see it over internet even in India! :-)
