    Holy shit guys do not use a buffing pad on a grinder to do this , its very easy to grind material off that will cause other issues . use a wire brush setup , brushes will not take anything but carbon buildup off , blow out with compressed air and check for pieces of wire from the brush used > good video just see too many people destroy surfaces with grinders way to often coming through the shop.

    It sounds like this would be a good idea anytime you have the turbo off. I just put mine back on after replacing the IPR valve. Found this 24 hours too late!

      Did you forget to plug in the map hose to the intake? This will eliminate any boost.

    Your very careless with cleaning, you nicked the exhaust wheel a dozen times and you were taking material off the bottom of the vein posts, youd be better off with a wire wheel on a die grinder

    Did you use anti seize inside ?

    Is it Necessary to take about the intake side of the turbo as well. The exhaust side that you just showed was great video. Thank you!!! Or maybe rebuild the whole turbo? Thanks.

    Great job! Can you do this with a Semi Truck turbo specifically the cummins x15?

    • @richardgray8939
      @richardgray8939 Před rokem

      Variable Turbo that has these veins in it is called a variable if the Cummins is equipped with a variable turbocharger use that you can do the same thing and doing turbo rebuild for years my knowledge is there is a few GM had a couple of Duramaxes got a couple and of course Ford

      PB Blaster does an amazing job dissolving rust. I use that instead of brake clean.

  • @torskdoc

    The solenoid plug is retained by a "INTERNAL SNAP-RING" Not a "C" Clip. There is a difference. You're not getting more power, just bringing it back to Baseline Factory SPECIFICATION.

      You're awesome Larry there is somebody else that has some brand on this channel besides myself I believe we got seven MC clip down there on the parking brake lever and a few other places definitely not a turbo

  • @scomi

    DO NOT, DO NOT, DO NOT Touch the impeller with the disk or even a wire wheel. It is balanced to run 20,000 RPM or so. Even a touch will throw it off balance. I hate to say it, but he will be replacing it soon. Otherwise it was a great video.

      Truly LOL no scratch bright is not going to hurt if you remove some material yes that will hurt it that I'm 68 years old and I've been doing this a lot longer than I suppose you ever did not going to hurt them

    • @scomi

      @@richardgray8939 Scotch-Brite in your hand would cause no damage but Scotch-Brite on a disc @ 3000 RPMs will definitely cause damage. I'm sure, by now, you know whether or not you got away with a few taps. Just wanted to caution others. So you know where I'm coming from, I started my mechanic career in '81, so you do have a few years on me.

    • @richardgray8939
      @richardgray8939 Před rokem

      @@scomi possibly but at even though Scotch-Brite disc at 3000 RPM on hardened metal usually doesn't Scuff the surface now if you were to put Scotch-Brite to a Babbitt bearing and you going to have serious issues

    • @scomi
      @scomi Před rokem

      @@richardgray8939 Alright Richard, as I said. I just wanted to caution others whose takeaway might have been, that they couldn't cause damage, that they should be careful. I've seen gasket surfaces have to be filed back flat after being cleaned up with a Scotch-Brite disc, even a head that had to have a few thousandths taken off to get it flat again. Good luck to ya, I'm done.

    DUDE!!……do NOT smack it with a ball peen hammer! That’s cast iron and will crack or shatter very easily! Use a plastic dead blow hammer or a rubber mallet!
