@@Blessthefall333cccyes, and i did it, under a song title "Look Behind". It goes really well like people who haven't heard demo would think that it is a full song. I'm also did the resolution and the wizard song mashup under a song title "The Wizard's Resolution" . It ain't perfect but it is the best you probably ever heard (at least for now)
Listening to nearly this entire 20th anniversary album in order at 3am, my ears and brain are deep fried and overloaded, and that's exactly what I come here for.
My uncle used to make fin of me hearing lp songs from those Early apple headphones where the songs could be heard outside of the earphones

This is so crazy! So Figure.09 was supposed to be a sequel to One Step Closer all this fucking time? I fucking love it ❤
I noticed a similarity between the two songs a some time ago. The riffs are similar, including the switch from the more muted to the louder parts, the song structure is basically identical, even including the pre chorus interludes, they just seem to have a lot in common.
@@ondraspendlik9759 I saw another comment that mentioned "Pushing Me Away" inspired to that same effect "Numb". I can hear it in all four songs how they flow into one another. I hope we get more things like this for future albums!

I'd say add Mike's lines to the other demo that has a bit more unique music but yes! Please someone make it!

This song is version2 of "one step closer"
So they have old same name (demo name)
Linkin Park were not trying to make a version2 of One Step Closer. They just named the demo Plaster 2 because the intro riff reminded them of the one in One Step Closer (plaster). But early demos name have little importance for LP so this has very little to share with One Step Closer

I wouldn't say it's better than the final product, but I definitely think it's a shame that I don't recall them ever coming back to that idea again.

Why do I wanna start a metal/hard rock band with my friends from school called SWADINA, feature horrific screaming in the beginning of a song, let it fade out completely, and then screaming, “COME OOOOOOOONNNN!!!!!” like Chester, and the riff’ll be like 0:54?

The bridge breakdown from 2:06 to 2:26 sounds like something that would come from an old WWE game, maybe something like WWE SmackDown: Shut Your Mouth!. I actually think that this whole song sounds like it could fit the vibe of the background songs in that game, to be honest.
I think the reason why Chester is absent on so many of these demos was because, as revealed in the Meterora Documentary, Chester was sick for most of Meterora.
He got sick during the last week of recording and they had to finish vocals for 2 songs while the album was being mixed. That's it.

The first line of this song reminds me of the Night Watch Oath from Game of Thrones. "Light kicks in and the night begins" sounds like "Night falls, and now my watch begins".

Figure.09 is amazing so I'm not surprised that even the demo is awesome
The snare hits so much stronger in this version, I think the snare in this version is better honestly. The official version is one of my most favorite Linkin Park tracks.

Also: After listening to this and the other demo that is more basic and features Chester's vocals only- I'd assume the writing process for this song was something like as follows:
Chester probably came up with a sick idea and recorded the original demo with his voice. It's pretty basic, lacks some of the more refined guitar work of this demo, and doesn't have any of the added effects like the intro segment.
He probably was super happy with the original idea (rightfully so), sent it over to Mike who then added his rap ideas, added effects like the intro sequence, and updated the guitar work to be more interesting with those big open chords. Not sure if it was only Mike who had a hand in those additions and alterations.
There's probably a metric ton of missed steps in between those two and in between this demo and the final version, but it's still cool to get a picture of how some of these songs were likely concepted, written, and iterated upon by the band. We know that they did this process with a lot of their music and it's like... I think the fact that they did have multiple songwriters really only enhanced the final products. One person comes up with an awesome idea that they're excited to share with the band be it a guitar riff, a chord progression, a melody, or some kind of feeling, and they take it and run with it.
I'd assume most of the changes to the song between this and the final product were the band coming up with different lyrics that all fit together and then probably some interference from the producer/label telling them to change some things up to make it more different. I'd almost pin the guitar work in the chorus being changed as a result of producer interference telling them that it was too similar to the verse and to change it up a bit to catch the ear of the listener more than if they repeated the same idea from the verse. That's usually the kind of thing that the producers would have an influence on.
The fact that they were able to write music this way without stepping on anybody's toes shows the level of respect that they had for each other, and it really only served to enhance the songs they were making. I love seeing this peak behind the curtain. I know Mike has gone on record as having expressed hesitance toward making this 20th anniversary album as they didn't want it to become an expected trend with all of their stuff, but something about his response to the Meteora 20th album tells me that he had a really good time going through their old stuff after the initial hesitance wore off.
I hope the time spent sifting through the old work was memorable and pleasant, and I look forward to never seeing another 20th anniversary release from you guys *unless* you guys decide that *you* want to do it again and it isn't something that you're pressured to do.

Where is chester? I think they use a lot of Mikes stuff, which is not bad, but i really wanted to hear chester in this demos
So, it turns out that there are two versions of the Figure.09 demo.
Figure.09 (2002 Demo): With mostly of Chester's vocals.
Figure.09 (Demo (Meteora Version)): With Mike's two rapping verses.
Yeah, but this version has more of the music of the original/album version. It's very interesting hearing these two demos and then the original.
