And the monotone. It was great. I'm surprised she didn't crack with the bag on her head.
Actually, most real actors put up with deadpan readers all the time. It's how they audition in the first place. That's how Sterling got all of this so right, both the 'acting' and the acting part without breaking.

It's hard not to put Kate clearly over everyone else, but Cecily is arguably her equal. Sterling K. Brown was also a very good host and could be a multi-timer.

The women are the best part of SNL.
Yep, a few of the women are good, but most of the cast is bad. This is one of the only cast lists I just really don't like from SNL. Most of the time if the guest is bad, the whole show is bad. Like the Charles Barkley episode sucked because he ruined all his lines, but Sterling is doing a good job so most of these skits are on point tonight.
I think all the chicks are great in this lineup except for Leslie cept for that 10% of the time when she actually is funny and doesn't f up the lines. IMO Heidi is the strongest new female talent.The 2 new guys they added most recently Chris Redd and Luke Null don't stand out much at all compared to Mikey or Beck or Kyle. Chris is okay in some smaller supporting roles but Luke is like - barely there. And the one character Luke did that had its own dedicated sketch where he was walking into the wrong class room or w/e was mediocre at best. tbh, they stand out so little I had to look up both of their names lol.

Cecily is why I watch SNL. She's great at impressions, accents,and characters. She stays in character better than anyone. She's incredibly funny. If this was Baseball, she's in the Hall of Fame.

Probably because she's mostly an impression comic, or at least that's easily her strong suit. You can't just have several sketches where she's doing the same impressions, it doesn't really work. Same reason they never used Jay Pharaoh properly in a consistent way. :( It sucks cus they are both great and hilarious, but you'll notice that the people who play more of their own funny characters that are made up either by them or the writers get way more screen time - like Cecily.

SNL was at it's best yesterday that I've seen in a long time. I loved the skits and the way that they were played. I actually got a chance to laugh for a change. Good job SNL cast and especially to Sterling K. Brown!

The way Sterling breaks character with Melissa's line🤣🤣
Melissa's character is absolutely fundamental for this sketch. Wouldn't work without her
to me it just comes off resentful and flow killing. Notice no one laughs and the skit comes to a total halt with her getting the last line. Feels like writers were fighting over the direction of the sketch
SNL couldn't say the words because they promised NBC.
