- Lyrics-
Back in school you ever get busted for trying to walk
and have some administrator tell you
Son, you can shirk your obligations, and try to be different from you peers
But responsibility for your future is
Gonna find you,
Gonna find you,
Gonna find you,
Gonna find you
Well I saw this kid get beaten down because he was out of luck
In the lottery of acceptance in the school of growing up
Saw a bunch of convicts doing time inside a cage
Got locked in factories within the school of paid wage
Gonna find you,
Gonna find you,
Gonna find you,
Gonna find you
Saw this boy so strung out that his body sweats and shakes
From his field education in the school of cheap escapes
Got told the school of human thinking teaches only truth
And one of its educations is gonna find you
Gonna find you,
Gonna find you,
Gonna find you,
Gonna find you
Saw a civilization where grabbing onto wealth
Was the only guarantee of freedom peace and health
Dollar sign value system upheld as the truth
And if you can't find a place its gonna find you
Saw the paranoid response to all of the examples
Of the ones that don't fit in this way of living getting trampled
Success is obedience to a structured way of life
You can't ignore the structure because were all within its sight
Gonna find you,
Gonna find you,
Gonna find you,
Gonna find you - Hudba
back in school you ever get busted for tryna walk and have some administrator tell you SOOOOOOOONNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN
The best!
is it just me or it’s extremely entertaining to read the 10 year old arguments in the comments? i’m so confused, but it’s so funny to me.
i think this is my favorite op ivy song, which is no easy feat as every single one of their songs are incredible! the chorus is so badass!
this track is just distilled punk rock goodness, in a shot-glass sized dose.
30 years later, it still sounds like “GAZPACHO” to me.
Now I keep hearing it.
damn it now i can't unhear it
😆😆
Dude. My band covers this, and it's well received, and being the vocalist, you gave got me yelling GAZPACHO now. Oh well. It was a good run..
when i listen to this stuff i always imagine myself rockin this in front of a crowd but then i realise it will never happen because im too lazy to learn the guitar lel
Play drums instead that's what I did
The guitar is easy.
Go on youtube, its a great hobbie, you dont have to be great to enjoy it
BEST MOTHERFUCKING BAND OF ALL TIME...CUT TOO SHORT '87~'89..WHERE THE FUCK IS JESSE?!?!?! I LOVE AND MISS HIM OH SO MUCH!!!
It found me
Not in trouble unless you get caught!!!
When will we realize that being punk isn't about "Who's more punk, and who's not punk" or "being the most punk of all your friends" but about being yourself and liking what you like and not giving a fuck about what anybody else says.
I'm punk by not being punk.
well, i sure hope they find Joe soon ;)
Who... who... who is joe
well said mate!
Goddammit I love this song.
got a banjo!
Getting annoyed at kids talking about punk rock is a true sign of getting old. I'm getting old. :)
no you know you're old when you don't care at all anymore.. 10 years later i imagine you're right there with me hahahaha
@jawallace1991 Ironically, probably when "you" grow up enough to realize you don't like punk anymore. Funny how the angry 15 year old "You aren't punk" crowd tend to listen to rap five years later. Irony, the constant basis of punk rock. I love it, and I love punk rock.
Sounds like Paulie Shore in the beginning
wow it does lol
GAZPACHO!!!!! GAZPACHO!!!!!
@DdrenchedD-THANK YOU!!! i was starting to think that i was the only one who understands that!
I don't see what's so wrong with wanting to be more punk than other people. Punk Points matter a lot for street cred and other things I don't understand.
@okie2339- I see where you're going with that, but if it wasn't for American Idiot, i probably wouldn't be into punk in the first place. to me, pop punk is a stepping stone into punk, as a listener, and represents growing up and expanding musically as a band. pop punk isn't horrible, it's just not as good. besides, Green Day isn't nearly as sold out as slash.
Hook shots
only 144000 views for a song from the album that created the entire 3rd wave ska... that's sad........
why is green day even mentioned on a operation ivy song i mean i like green day and all but i dont wanna read comments bout them on operation ivy song
Thank you
@okie2339 thats your opinion i personaly like green days old stuff and a few of there new stuff theres no need to hate on other bands for personal reasons just let things be the way things are
"cara facho"
@operationivychick sometimes
@jawallace1991 ...thats when you know -_____- whos in it for "fashion"
@TheGreenWeedWizard if everyone didnt care we'd stay isolated alone with no feelings and no opinions, you can say that people would be nicer but for ex, a former president started a really stupid war (i dont want political arguments) and a lot of people stood up to them because they cared and really felt like this was the wrong thing, if people didnt care no one would have thought a thing of it
@operationivychick op ivy is open to debate. im still enjoing tho
@nymetsrock i appreciate the well- thought out reply, rather than "you're an idiot". but i really don't remember my train of thought leading up to that comment. Also, i don't really give a damn anymore. i like what i like, and i'm not going to argue about what's what.
@JMort95 debating is pointless.
Oooo look at me, I have "punk" in my username. Won't one of you crown me?......
Everyone shut up and listen to the damn music. Be glad this one doesn't have a commercial on it
@FlamingTrumpets all those albums are pop punk as they are heavily melodic, yes they arent bad rock albums but punk is just not the right term. And it isnt like totally free when it comes to being classified as a punk band. For example, you say green day doesnt care about others so they sold out and therefore are punk. All disney artists didnt care about indie purists, are they punk too? NO. you maintain self control, and dont give in, thats punk, not signing to warner bros
And to be clear - I'm talking about the old 'Who's more punk' conversation. Ideas and styles and everything evolves. That's just the trend of music. Like Flaming Trumpets eluded to: If you think you're being punk, you're not. Punk, in a nutshell, is having the guts and caring enough to say 'Fuck You'. Doesn't matter if you're a straight-edger, hardcore, pop-punk, or whatever. So take it and run with it. Anyhow - this thread is old as dirt. :P Just don't get caught up in the labels game.
Is this supposed to be a song about the education system?
\m/O.O\m/
WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!
try not to skank challange (99% will FAIL)
@XxIrishxPunkxX no
@OakRidgePunk777 I have "punk" in my username because I appreciate the music, not use it as an instruction manual
definatly can hear some Clash influence in there
IMP, Green day aren't sellouts, they just do their stuff and thats ok. You dont hear any punk band nowadays which sound like 70s or 80s punk. Its stupid thing to compare which was 20 years ago and now. i dont think then band trying something new its sellout. It would be really boring to do the same stuff all the time.
it is just beyond me how on so many good song vids. people are talking/hating green day. they had their hayday, and do you think that that shit u kids talk will acutly change anything? or even like they give a fuck? listen to more opiv, and you will see how they sing about people bonding over hate, and how it is destroying what little is left of society. and btw, green day is nutral in my books. people just love to hate. opiv speaks of unity, and all i see is unity of hate.
I believe it's "You construct your obligations" not "You can shirk your obligations".
You believe wrong then.

@jawallace1991 you misunderstand everything, if we dont give a shit about what other people say how will we ever achieve change, how will spit back a statement to theirs, if everyone didnt care what other people thought the world would be more fucked up then it is now
again, i hate genres. everybody argues over what's what.
0% ska….just the way I like it
