- Lyrics-
It's not the ending
Its the beginning
The ground is moist and it rained last night
Smells like smoke and it smells so clean
The sun is shining down like a friendly white light
Here we go again
Analyzed the world I was born into
But I could never understand
Knew I never wanted to grow up if that meant being a "man"
Dominating strict competition is the meaning of our lives
Stomping on the weak keeps us the winner of the battle in our minds
Tensions in our lives that are destroying our minds
Unite themselves together to make our consciousness blind
Conditioned to self-interest with emotions locked away
If that's what they call normal I'd rather be insane
Relax yourself from giving what you want to do with your life
Ease up from giving up things like control of your own mind
If you never ask any question
Then you're never gonna get no answer
Always be wondering what do you want
While you keep getting older faster
Here we go again
Another test of manhood just when you thought you'd won
The more we keep competing
The more the battle has just begun - Hudba
i think "tensions in our lives that are destroying our minds unite themselves together to make our consciousness blind. conditioned to self-interest with emotions locked away, if thats what they call normal, id rather be insane" is one of the greatest lyrical line written. op ivy is definitely the best punk band to have ever existed.
Op Ivy’s lyrics were INSANE, Energy is one of the greatest punk albums to ever exist
Incredible
I agree with you with all my heart. When people say thee band, I think Operation Ivy. When I dream of my ideal reunited band it's Operation Ivy. It's the band we need, but not the band we deserve.
Bc Tim LINT ARMSTRONG is Friggin underrated, genius poet
@@HeyChicagoWhattaSay definitely agree that there's a whole lotta people wishing they would do a reunion show. There's an annual event in Vegas called Punk Rock Bowling where there is bowling involved, but also a day of music with a lot of bigger bands. I remember one year they posted the lineup, and at the top of the bill was Operation Ivy. People were losing their minds until they announced it was a gag. Wouldn't have been unheard of considering Rancid has headlined before (and half of OPIV is already in that band). Prior to them taking it down, if I recall correctly I do believe Jesse chimed in in response to the fake lineup saying that as much as it would be great to be back on stage it will never happen (and if I'm remembering correctly, he is the holdout for reuniting...everyone else is game). We can always hope, though (and I don't think the fake lineup thing has ever happened again since, cause SOOOO many people were pissed).
I got this album when I was 13 years old. I am 32 now and gone through university at the graduate level. I can safely say I learned more important lessons from Op. Ivy than school.
Another test of "manhood", just when you thought you'd won, the more we keep competing, the more the battle has just begun. Jesse was on another level...timeless
One of my all-time favorite bass lines. So fat, so skanky, so awesome!
This was the first bass line I ever played. 20 years ago.
What did you call me? Jk
Matt freeman is a f*ckin' monster. Gosh dang tragedy, yo. I could live without rancid or common rider if these mah'kas didn't split.
Matt Freeeemannn!!!!!!
They played this live in Pittsburgh Tim time bomb and friends opened for Rancid. Stupid fun.
All of them are fuckin great. The album is called energy. My very favorite album. EVER M
"Those of you who weren't dancing- feel free to dance cuz were a dance band.

Conditioned to self-interest with emotions locked away.

I have an old lookout! records shirt with these lyrics on the back. This song and this band had such a powerful message to all and personally had a very strong impact on my life.
@@constantinepanagiotatos975 thats how intense these lyrics are. Love them, they have always been such pinnacle concepts in my relationships ❤ and friendships. Basically "don't doubt yourself" is the message. Huge on my life.
had this shirt like 3 times in my life... whenever it gets on it's last leg, I order another one! the "conditioned to self interest with emotions locked away, if that's what they call normal then I'd rather be INSANE!!"
This shirt is life. Had it since 19. Need another one.
fam!
I do the same but with the poster gone through like 3 of them now
MrNorthernlights4

I just bought my first operation ivy shirt today!!! It’s so bootleg but I love it so much
Seriously, some of the best lyrics ever written!
HERE WE GO AGAIN, infatuation touches me just when I thought that it would end.
Green Day!!
Now I gotta listen to 1,039 Smoothed Out Slappy Hours since you just reminded me of it.
Green Dayyyyyyyy
Going To Pasalacqua is one of my favorite GD songs. But 86, or Reject is my all-time favorite.
Oh wait... wrong band hahahaha
I do love that song though :D
Much needed wisdom 🙏 in these times.
One of my favorite bands of all time. I remember back in the day ( I feel old) the punks of my school formed a clique and they all wore op ivy t shirts. Some of those punks were jocks who just wanted to fit into something. But at least they like a legendary band like this. I dispised those punks and their 'cluque' mentality at the time. But I still Love this band so much. Good music like this is so rare.
whoaaa theyre just another crowd
I love how the instrumental has this very happy ska sound but the vocals are insanely fucking mad
Glad this is my first OP Ivy song
Amazing song.
FUCK YEAAAAAHHHHH!!!!!!!!
Here we go again
The more we keep competing
The more the battle has just begun

I’ve just started playing bass 3 days ago with 15 years of Musical Knowledge behind my back, and this is the first song I am trying to play, along with Blister in the Sun. Such skanky lines, I love it

@@malikjohnston3883 Hahahah funny thing is that now that I’ve been playing for over a year, I can play Sound System, Take Warning, (some of) The Crowd, Bombshell, Unity, Vulnerability, Bankshot, One of These Days, Freeze Up, Artificial Life, Room Without a Window, Here We Go Again, Hoboken, Healthy Body, and Officer.
It’s been a helluva journey and now I am in a band, so I appreciate you commenting on my initial post because it gave me a minute to reflect on how much I’ve progressed. Thank you good sir!

@BlackChapelDeluxe Michaels did almost all the tracks for their recorded albums and Lint did like one or two songs for front vocals. So I'm almost positive it was Michaels.
this is on page 4 of the search results for "here we go again". that is so messed up -.-
1 million tags FTW
For some reason it says an error occurred on the screen... Not being able to pause the video isnt exactly a problem.
If that's what they call normal then I'd rather be insane?

This is OP ivy bayarea boys they ain't any genre or labeled bunch no stereotypical group of any certain type they operation ivy from the bayarea California and from a time that they caught just perfectly no matter who what when or where it's just good rock n roll music made by a group of guys who were spreading some of that good they had in they're own hearts if you get anything out of this let it be the unity thing and dont take yourselfs too too seriously when it comes to any damm image thing be yourself dont waste this life our actions are a means to an end!!! One man can change the world and he accepts you when you accept his spirit into your heart nobodys beliefs hold any bareing to reality we all sin nobodys perfect but you have a real chance at knowing perfect and real peace and togetherness..... if your into that sort of thing ? If not them you have already chose your own eternal suffering but keep it to yourself no matter what that coward in your concious tells you bringing as many down with you will be more far worse regret then you believe you can ever truly take hell was created for real evil way passed our level of any strength or knowledge and one demon angel is wiser then all of us if satan can fool and convince 1/3 of gods angels to follow in his uproar then he can convince you of anything dont be the foolish ones left behind we send ourselves to hell the lord does not condemn you to hell you made that choice when you denied the truth the most obvious truth that's never been any secret only by the ones who follow darkness will this be a kept secret good is not contageous like evil it spreads differently why be any thing but apart of it we all want good so...... try..... this life is a test and most of us are failing ourselves and our close ones and on and on and on like a sad song goes on and on

They need to turn up the bass on this track! Guitar way too loud. That’s a phenomenal bass line!

Why should it
Disgusting this bass line is naaaaasty

vagio113 its ska punk
Nathan de Groot exactly
nope.
"yeah fuck the system yeah!" i was thinking about this a lot. All of these multi national corporations running the world and all and it made me think. Who would 99 % of the employed people be working for; would they even have jobs? Also to be honest i think that devoloped countries as a single entity are completely dependent on these machines. So yeah fuck the system is cool when venting your frustration but on a more serious note, what's your game plan?
its rancid
they fuckin' wish
so this was around at about the same time as early Mighty mighty bosstones was it ? i see a sort of connection
opposite side of country. punk ska genre was developed by both. two v different bands. lint and Matt from op ivy went on to form Rancid. Op Ivy was extremely conscious (poseurs call this "woke" now) as were many bands before it was trendy to be this way, and frankly unpopular. All Op Ivy songs are extremely thoughtful and have deep commentary on society and human beings. This band changed my life when I was a kid.
