- Lyrics-
I saw this guy go down
Wasn't time for fear before his body hit the ground
Our vulnerability is all our insensitivity
Car that hit him pulled to a stop
Driver hid the bottles he anticipated cops
Our vulnerability is all our insensitivity
Crowd assembled to take a look at death
Shattered skull fragile body blacktop running red
Our vulnerability is all our insensitivity
People looked bored like expecting more
People looked bored like expecting more
Our vulnerability is all our insensitivity
And sympathy is only friendships whore you know
And maybe we don't know who we are anymore
Another spectacle and it's respectable
To take it lightly like another tv show
So desensitized, so dehumanized
Why stop and think when you can find someplace to go
We're drowning
We're drowning
Our vulnerability is all our insensitivity
We're drowning
We're drowning
Our vulnerability is all our insensitivity
And it's gonna be the death of us just you wait and see
My dad would always play this album in the car when I was a kid. I'm 20 years old now and I have to say, my parents raised me right.
I'm 19, and I'm still a little boy. Help me nigga how do I swim in reality?
my kids are 10 and 13
and while i still slave away we do it to this soundtrack
and btw vote trump 2020
You're still a kid, fuck nut
I don’t understand why we’re bringing up politics. This is op ivy. If I wanted to argue about politics I would have gone to a dead Kennedy’s song and posted.
I'll be playing some op iv songs in the car with my 7 year old daughter today! Long live Operation Ivy!
Our vulnerability is all our insensitivity! 20 years later, this band's lyrics still ring true. Punk rock til I fucking die!
It's a timeless message
These lyrics are unreal! Best Op Ivy song
That guitar intro...
op ivy and jesse's concepts will always be in me. "Think for yourself" -Jesse Michaels
Tears... amazing, nailed it, even 35 years on, still relevant.
I think I love this whole album.
great lyrics, these lyrics has made me think and notice more, love the tunes aswell, in my opinion; a masterpiece.
I loved this band in high school and I still love them today and I'll love them on my death bed! Never before or again will there be a band quite like Op Ivy!
iine
Thank you for sharing this, we need it now more than ever.
My favorite Op Ivy song (judging by views) is one of the least liked from the album. I don't get it. This song rocks and has a great message.
I LOVE this song and only today found out the lyrics. I'm shocked to find out what he was singing! lol Lyrically it's amazing too!
Hands down bar none the best OPIV song. Still listening, 3 decades on.
listening to all these songs again in 2013...its like they could predict the future. we HAVE become desensitized and dehumanized, there was a freeze up coming, but we still haven't found unity..
It doesn't get better by 2021
@@mattthompson9395 and five months later no change haha
Checking in 2022 ain’t much better lol
2023 is fucked
"People looked bored, like expecting more"
This is still the good shit out there and these dudes were onto something if ya hear them they really are doing the good lords work and spreading good sounds not evil ones none of that evil dark shit the world and the reality of this world is evil and harsh enough so it's all about the truth then that's what they gave into they're music.... it sounds like to me at least I don't know what it is but I never got tired of listening to some operation ivy
My 96 year old grandfather loves this song.
As my Dad does at 83
My Dad likes it before a surf at 83.
I love Op Ivy's well written songs. Fucking bravo!
Wish I would have seen these guys play live....
We don't have a time machine yet, but we have them on youtube :D better than nothing, back in the day, I bought their shows in Skate Video Punks Videos (which doesn't exist anymore)
You and me both I’d pay $1000 a ticket to see them today....we are going to see rancid on May 10th 2020 in Houston though!!! Hella ya
most effective song ever been .
I've been looking all round Victoria, Australia trying to find this album. I'm so glad I found one just hiding amongst new pop punk shit. Thank the lord!!!!!!
Best song on the lp
@atombomb324
It's like the Velvet Underground. Only 500 people bought their first album, but each one of them started a band.
Thanks, Sami.
this reminds me of when im driving in the car, and there's tons of traffic because everyone has to stop and look at an accident
This song is the best.
This song is beautiful
The whole energy album is awesome!
Jesse Michaels was not a singer, he was a poet. (still is, I imagine)
This track was made for me
dont be over looking the fat bass in this tune. amazing
id love to do karaoke to this song!
@pyroslayer83 i found it buried in my dads old cd case. i was stoked..
i grew up in LA along with the adolescents, descendents, social d, black flag, etc... but nothing had a greater pull on me than what was going on up in the bay area.
Yeeees
swag
Your (now) 98 grandfather if he's still alive is cool.
It's like it's written by a prophet (the whole album).
weird. when i first heard this song it reminded me of I Fought the Law. now i don't get how i could see any similarity...
Maybe it's the pattern of the song that sounds similar? Or could it be the lyrics?
wasn't time for fear before his body hit the ground
Saw them at Gilman... Just sayin'
If I had a time machine...
Ha!
2024 never die 🕴
@Aussietonian Proboaly because back when this song came out, he was a fuckin awesome punk, not'a poser :)
for my whole life i thought the album cover was a dude with a big neckalce with his head cut off...
@ianclarke104 Ska too ;)
@tdurbin001 Fucking lucky I wish I could have seen them
Lint is king who doesn't like lint
+Danger Ross This one dude I used to hang out with won't listen to rancid or any of tim's other bands because tim did heroin in the 90's.
+Politikill Trash it's kind of like not bringing your family to the 7-11 because the guy who runs it went through a divorce...
Danger Ross ... not me 😎🤪😎🤪
kinda sounds like ruby soho?
where the fuck can i buy this album?
I realize I'm replying to a 5 year old comment, but good luck. I had to special order this album back in 2001 from a FYE back in 2001. They were hard to find even back then. You might be able to run into one at a Hot Topic if they still carry stuff like this.
I FINALLY FOUND IT. all by itself in a jb hi-fi store, never seen it anywhere else except ordering it online
Man if they only knew about the coming meme culture. Yeesh.
@CBiscuit25
C'mon, it's punk rock! Rip up your math homework!
Why not both? I was a 13 year old punk kid when this came out and now I am most of the way through a PhD in my 40s. Being punk don't mean you gotta be ignorant.
This always sounded like a sex pistols song to me.
