- Lyrics-
Concrete and chaos rise up
Spiderweb across the land
Like a giant rash
Forests lie down below
Foundations of buildings in a bed of ash
Some people here got it real good
'Cause the glass towers bring prosperity
And other people starve in the street
Because concrete knows no sympathy
Big city [x6]
Big city, it's a wishing well
Big city, it's a living hell
This town it's fucking insane
How one will starve and another will gain
It's like a giant mechanical brain
And the people are cells and the streets are veins
It thinks only of itself
A thousand limbs crawling as it expands and grows
And still the concrete sits there
Sits there stark grey and cold
Big city [x6]
Big city, it's a wishing well
Big city, it's a living hell
And I think I wanna be a brick layer
So I can put another brick in the wall
It's sanitary rational and happy and sane
Growing like a flower to surround us all
Big city [x6]
Big city, it's a wishing well
Big city, it's a living hell
Big city [x6]
Big city, it's a wishing well
Big city, it's a living hell - Hudba
That opening was always one of the best ever!
The first 10 seconds of this song are absolutely beautiful
OP IV is such beautifully happy freaking music. It’s impossible to be sad when you listen to it. I remember when I was like 15 my friends and I would go out and play this whole album while we did our skanking lol.
This is not a happy song, at all.
...shanking?
Nothing about their lyrics is happy, listen to the message
funny when you haven't heard a song in years and it just randomly pops in your head
When I was a teenager in the 90's I listened to this album religiously. After a few years my dubbed tape finally fell apart, and I tracked down a new one, only to discover that I'D ONLY HAD PART OF THE ALBUM UP TO THAT POINT. My old dubbed copy ended halfway through "room without a window".
I still get a chill when I hear the opening of this song, remembering what it was like to discover my favorite album had even more songs I had never heard. That led me to Seedy, etc.
That's so cool!
Agreed the entire song is amazing, both lyrically and in general; but when I heard that introduction I think i came
Tim Armstrong stuff 👌🏻
describes city life perfectly
Tim Armstrong 🎸 🔟 +
Jesse Michaels 🎤 🔟+
Matt Freeman bass 🎸 🔟+
Dave Mello 🥁 🔟
@@salasapi legend,❤️
Ecco qui siamo a livelli di 🔟 + no doubts about it
A true jam.
To the five that gave thumbs down you have no idea!
Second.
I truly feel sorry for anyone who would give this a thumbs down. I mean, imagine not liking Op Ivy😞
one of the all time greats
My 13 favorite song growing up
Who’s listening in 23? More relevant today than ever.
めっちゃ好きやねんw
And other people starve in the street
Because concrete knows no sympathy
Best effing lyric
Idk if it was intentional but the riff for bermuda triangle shorts by Man or Astroman bares a striking resemblance to the riff here pretty cool.
Favorito song!!!
The eye is the lamp of the body and you are The Navigator..
town is fuckin insane
Heeeeeell yeeeaah
Sound is fucking insane.
Chi-raq went from a wishing well to a living hell to a shit hole right before my eyes.
BIG SID, BIG SID-E
I though it said "The sound is fucking isane"
hmmm, people say Tim Armstrong doesn't play his guitar, they forget that he plays guitar on every song on this album and the first Rancid album, all i have to say "meh" to those people\

It doesn't just drop out from under you so you need to find some place in the city where your mind can process that information in a healthy way.. You can think about the scientific information.. So you need to be tolerating your environment to accomplish that maybe..
@The1Drummer101 so's the rest :)
Baked ziti, baked ziti
I can’t get over how much he sounds like joe strummer
That's only in your head. Joe's dad was a rich diplomat that bought everyone's gear. All your favorite music was foisted on you by men in business suits around a boardroom table.
To the both of you...no. your both wrong. Very, very, very wrong. Shockingly wrong.
Joe Strummer was definitely the son of a diplomat. I don't think that denigrates the music of The Clash. After all, it seems awfully punk rock to get somebody else that's wealthy to pay for your gear (and your entire band's gear, if your claim is indeed accurate). Hell...after being a musician for 25+ years I wish somebody else paid for the tens of thousands I've spent on gear in my lifetime.
I drink a carton of orange juice every single day..
Drink a carton of orange juice every single day and take it seriously that your digestive system would rebuke you..

It doesn't just drop out from under you.. So you need to find some place in the city where your mind can process that information in a healthy way.. You need to think about the scientific information.. So you need to be tolerating your environment because you are not going to change the gravitational realities with your mind..
It's not the thinking process.. It's the ability to locate yourself at a gravity free zone..
Because the person's mind is attempting to relocate them..
( But by the time you change your eating habits.. ) - Perry Farrell
He goes like " By the time you change your eating habits.. " ( Which works out to be true, but.. ) So just take yourself seriously..
You need to learn to appreciate what you have in life.. ( It's not all the same.. ) Building structures weigh a ton.. But so does a big giant slab of cement.. We don't go around picking grapes off the street signs and the traffic signals basically.. But anybody can have an episode.. Anybody can have a nervous breakdown.. Because there is gravitational phenomenon sometimes when the human person becomes like a feather in comparison.. So you just have to achieve your goal with reaching some kind of a place in the city that you can really tolerate.. Or hanging out at some kind of a place in the city that you can really tolerate.. It's the weight of the ground moving.. But you could calculate the cost of that in a scientific way.. Like looking for some correlation with earthquakes.. It dosen't just drop out from under you so you need to find some place in the city where your mind is able to process that infirmation in a healthy way.. Because it plays tricks on people..
Yes
Hmmm I guess I can do it tomorrow or Friday if that’s what happened to the other guy who was talking to his dad and he said he was going to call

Dorky lyrics. Melody cool. They should have found a better lyricist.
