Basic Training is divided into two parts: Basic Combat Training (BCT) and Advanced Individual Training (AIT). The BCT comprises the first ten weeks of the total Basic Training cycle and is identical for all Army, Reserves, and Army National Guard recruits. Instead, AIT comprises the remainder of the Total Basic Training period and is the place where recruits train specifically in their chosen field. As such, the AIT is different for each available Army career path, or Military Occupational Specialty (MOS). AIT courses can last from 4 to 52 weeks. Soldiers are still tested for physical fitness and weapon proficiency and are subject to the same duties, strict daily schedules and disciplinary rules as in BCT.

Was he military trained?
My black gsd knows intuitively what I see other gsd need trained to do if she's allowed to play unrestricted. For instance as a younger pup she would run and jump up & lightly tap my elbow just to let me know what she can do. She can go from zero to what looks like thirty in a second, very powerful girl. She leaps over my couch just to show me how high she can jump. She learns words instantly and obeys with love all the time. She's never had harsh training, loves her treats but will work just for exercise she enjoys and to show me what she can do.

This wonderful GSD is an example of what Capt. von Stephanitz envisioned for the spectacular breed so many of us love and admire.
This is exactly how my GSD is and I adopted her as a 3yo from the animal shelter. Nobody wanted to adopt her...now, everyone wants to steal her from me, lol.

Good looking stuff, at least for what I can see the dog looks happy to be doing this and is very focused, looks like he hasn't been trained with harsh aversives, he is happy to be by the handlers side without fearing a punishment. At least that's what it looks like to me, either they weren't used or the handler knew what they were doing and wasn't aggressive with the training methods. Nice to see.

This is awesome! There's a girl in my town who has a German Shepherd trained this way and it's amazing watching them work. I'd love to be able to get my German Shepherd x Golden Retriever to this point. She loves to please and learns very quickly.
