    For peeps watching, Fiskar says not to rinse off with water and you should dry off the mower as best as possible, so there is some upkeep with it. You can use a compressor to clean and dry it. Love my mower ❤

    The great thing about the reel mowers is you can mow wet grass and it doesn't clog the mower like it does to a rotary mower that would kill it and you have to keep cleaning it as you mow. Awesome yard

    Having both products, I agree that the fiskars is a better option. The cut is better, and handle is 10x better, and the front throw option is great at concealing the clippings. It's actually easier to push and navigate around flower beds and the like.

  • @andy-the-gardener
    @andy-the-gardener Před 4 lety +1

    id love one of these for the half acre of lawn i have to do in england, but have too many overhanging trees of all sorts. they constantly shed twigs, leaves, seed pods and other debris, esp after any windy weather. this would make such a contraption a total non starter. half my lawn mower use is actually collecting up bits off the trees. it would be great if these mowers combined some kind of pre cut debris sweeper that ran in front of the actual grass cutter. most gardens have trees after all and could be very useful for gathering up leaves. half the mowing season, say september onwards is when trees are shedding leaves. the first cut of the year my lawn is totally covered with twigs even though i hand collect and rake all the time. reel mowers work well but it seems in sterile, open gardens devoid of trees. be great if they could design a reel mower for the real world. see what i did there :)

    Thank you very much for the review.
    I am 70 years old and in pretty good shape. This is the fifth season using the Fiskars mower (20,000 sq ft of lawn). It cuts excellent and easy to push. My only gripe is I have to backup and get about a foot running go before the goofy wheel cams will engage and the reel starts turning. I figured because mine is older than yours but, noticed you have to do the same thing.

    • @julietdavis4112
      @julietdavis4112 Před 6 lety

      Use a blower to remove the cut grass.

    • @GravityRoller
      @GravityRoller Před 5 lety +1

      My Fiskars reel starts turning as soon as rear drive wheels start turning forward. If yours is not, you may want to check under the plastic chain guard to see that the chain tensioner is working properly (it's above the chain applying down pressure to tension the chain). Also, check the chain gear pins are in and secure (pin through gear into reel axel and drive wheels axel).

    • @ecmarsh
      @ecmarsh Před 5 lety

      The shaft where the wheels grip is worn down and the wheel cams or catches don't catch to engage the drive. I am probably going to get another one in the spring. I really miss using it.

    Thanks for the review. I've been eyeing these since I got my first reel mower a few years ago and just never have made the switch. Really considering picking one up soon.
    One question I have, do you ever have to double back on your passes? That's my biggest problem with my mower. It never seems to get all of the grass in one pass.

    • @turnertv9925
      @turnertv9925  Před 6 lety

      David Paulk - I definitely would recommend this mower for sure. Only thing I would advise is I do occasionally have to double pass some of my really thick Bermuda spots when im not on top of mowing regularly. Other than that this mower is awsome.

    • @SuperTA329
      @SuperTA329 Před 4 lety

      From my experience the more passes the better it looks. If you want perfection take a blower to the lawn to fluff it up and do another pass. Looks incredible. Great reel mower.

    I'm planning on getting one of these. And using it for primary cutting my lawn (bermuda) then I will do second pass with my rotary mower on a higher setting to basically just pickup and mulch the clippings from the reel mower. Is this a good idea? Basically trying to get great cut and quality of reel mowing without breaking the bank to get a $1k plus motor one while also being able to still mulch my clippings.

    Any comparison thoughts btwn those two Fiskars?

    • @jaycee1373
      @jaycee1373 Před 5 lety +2

      GravityRoller During his first video comparing the Fiskars to the Scotts classic, he said Fiskars was going to help him out but he didn’t want to mention how. I could be wrong, but I suspect they sent him a replacement or he just bought a new one because in the comment section of this video he replied he bought the grass catcher online but in the original video comparison he said the catcher was still in the original box provided by the owner from Craigslist. Another hint this is a newer mower is he mentioned how he had to adjust this mower after pulling it from the box. Also the other one didn’t have the warning sticker on the deflector like the new one does.

    Your yard is as flat as a billiard! Since I live in Costa Rica we have a local species called “sweet grass” it’s probably what you call carpet grass and Saint Augustine. I use my Scott’s 16” twice or thrice a week! But I’m looking forward for a Fiskar’s. My Craftsman Honda rotary mower sees a lot less action these days!

    • @brazillianguy01
      @brazillianguy01 Před 3 lety

      Striping has to do with weights added to bend the grass down and depending on the light (sun behind you) you will see the stripes. this doesn't have weights. The real expensive reel mowers >$1000 have weights on them that cause the stripes.. and also its powered with more blades which prevents the ridges
