    Most bathroom style extractor fans are designed to be run intermittantly, and ship large volumes of air.
    great in summer, but large volumes of cold air in winter non stop will chill the room.
    I use a 0.13 amp 12v PC fan for extraction in my filterhouse, and I run a QK maxi shower...and have no condensation now.

    @Tom_Prendiville Před 2 lety +3

    Well done Mr daily 👏🏼
    Ideally the extractor fan would be as close to the shower as possible but unless you go through the ceiling you will see it outside, you could have an inline extractor (which are much better than wall mounted imo) and have a pipe internally to the other end of the room and out through the back wall. (Solid pipe ducting as the flexible stuff is rubbish).
    Enjoy the weekend buddy 👍🏼

    • @koidiaries
      @koidiaries  Před 2 lety +1

      YEah solid pipe makes the extraction of air much more efficient as ive read online. Its on the list to do, just thrown a spanner in my current roof project lol nothing like make jobs aye!!

      @@koidiaries I boiled my brain over extractor fans a few years ago in our old house 🤣.
      Just make sure the pipework has a slight fall from the fan to the outside so any water runs outside. 👍🏼👍🏼

    Fairplay every little thing completed makes that filter house look wicked 😉👌

  • @KoiKicks

    Hi Andy, some fan info
    This is calculated by multiplying length by width by height. Let's take an average measurement: 3m long x 2m wide x 2.4m high = 14.4 cubic metres. This means that in order to change the air in that room once an hour, a fan would have an extraction rate of 14m3/h. Building Regulations require rate 4 air changes per hour, so we multiply that by 4, giving us a rate of 56m3/h or 15l/s.

    • @koidiaries
      @koidiaries  Před 2 lety +2

      Yeah thats the information id got online with regards to regs and fan requirements. Most 100mm bathrom fans are around 80m3/h so about right for my application based on 4x air changes an hour. Im toying with a few other things so its not on my must do list yet! Ive decided i need to rebuild the pergola! You'll see the conundrum next week lol :-)

  • @kevinellis4755
    @kevinellis4755 Před 2 lety

    you may want to think about putting a door stop on the floor of the filter house so the door cant swing too far open and hit the pipes you have just supported that run from your shower

    M10 rod can take 1 tonne in tension so in compression it would be alot more but can bend if not completely vertical but you should be OK

  • @KoiKicks
    @KoiKicks Před 2 lety +3

    I would put an extractor fan high level on the right side as you walk in with a flex and simply plug it in to one of those sockets. A 6 inch clip on circulation fan would be beneficial too to mix the rooms air.

    @MikeZak101 Před 2 lety +1

    I had a £160 hanna ph tester, tbh it's crap, inconsistent wasn't the word, plus if you don't store it in the correct probe solution its dead and the only way to fix it is to buy a £90 replacement prob for it, I gave up with it and there expensive calibration solutions.
    Been using the blue lab guardian for nearly a year, doesn't miss a beat, calibrate monthly when the alarm flash's (not that its ever out anyway), give the prob a quick clean with a soft brush once a week and because its always in water there no risk of killing the prob which are only £50 and last around 2 years.

  • @edlesboroughkoipondstevech3546

    Hi Andy, going back to my days of having an aquarium rather than a pond having had white spot, the fish not me, white spot is a contagious parasitic disease of fish. Caused by Ichyophthirius multifilis, the parasite infects the fish after moving from the bottom of the pond. Maybe maybe not?

    • @koidiaries
