- 2nd Fluke treatment in! Easy!
Reinstate drum bungs so drum can clean up the pond water, errrr, NOT easy!
What and absolute fudge this turned out to be LOL
Yeah so the pond water as you know is a real mess as I was bypassing the drum to allow the fluke treatment not to be stripped out of the water, well in the 5 days its been off the water has got rather a large amount of algae suspending in it and yeah, you guessed it the drum is now unable to keep up with all the cleans, OMG its CARNAGE!!!!!
Haha loved it when drum kept going off 😂🤣😂👍.
I know, like i knew it was going to set a clean but being a dumb ass forgot id get soaked in the process lol
Your fish look absolutely magnificent!
Ahh mr daily always a pleasure to watch you struggle 🤣🤣 just kidding matey 👍🏼
Was a great watch the other night on koizone and of course the usual Saturday morning with a coffee in hand.
I'm currently trying to explain to Rachael that we don't need an isa tancho showa from queni koi 🤣 she just loves to spend spend spend 🙃🤣
We aim to please! Yeah was good to go and do a live thingy, may need to resurrect KD lives at some point too :-)
Look, at least shes picking something decent and not some weird and wonderful variety that you dont like, and if shes getting her credit card out then hey why not lol
@@koidiaries koi Diaries live is always a winner 🏆
I think I'm winning in the no tancho but i can't police her forever 🤣 I'm playing on the one in one out rule so hopefully she gets rid of one or two weird and wonderful 🤔
Great video as usual
Thanks :-)
Lol when you put that bung back in the drum getting soaked had me in hysterics 🤣🤣🤣
LOL i aim to please, i knew it was going to start a clean cycle but just didnt think about id be standing there lol Ooooops
@@koidiaries lol well least you got it all up and running eventually 👍
Socks and Sandals in reflection 🤣🤣🤣🤦♂️, another great video of keeping koi it’s nice to know that someone else has issues too and not just me
Im always stomping round the garden in socks and slides lol
Never a dull, chaos free day at Chateau Diaries. Glad it's sorted now.
Correct, whats the point of just plain sailing lol
I bet your neighbours love the noise from your heater and air pump Andy.I didn’t realise those heaters were so noisy.I prefer a quiet pond myself.
Its a bit noiser than usual as got that bowl on top and the top isnt screwed down, all sorted now though ;-) But there is a hum when it is on theres no getting away from that.
Hi Andy,
Fish are looking great 👍🏻 good to see you on Koizone Live 😎👍🏻
Take care 🐟😎👍🏻
Thanks man, was a good hour chatting stuff koi related, may have to pop back :-)
@@koidiaries nice 1. 👌 hope you get those flukes sorted. I do a similar treatment program. Seems to be the best way to get rid of them 😎👍🏻
Yes I did get to the end, as I do with all your videos Andy. Glad it's looking all sorted buddy, have a great weekend.👍
Cheers buddy :-) Weekend over now, shame :-/
Nice koi pond bro..👍
Nice update Andy. The joy of koi keeping :)
Cheers, yeah "joy" of pond keeping, my stupidity really lol all good now though
Everyday is a school day lol very interesting and insightful 👌 👏
Always a school day here. Just didnt engage brain as usual lol
Great clip Andy as always 👌 I have the same Queni drum filters, like you have had the dirty drum issue after over feeding. The injecter pump if running every few minutes instead of once every 20-30 minutes can displace a huge amount of water making the issue once. I reduced the drum clean side pumps by 50% and immediately dropped the censor box to the lowest position. This compensates for the lower pond water level. Once the pond level has balanced and the water quality had improved (48hrs) for me, I raised the censors back the original position and pumps back to 100%. The advantage of this is my shower and bio pumps didn't have to reduce lower than 50%. 👌
Yeah as i said lowering the water level sensor was an option but luckily it was a mad 12 hours to clear pond and the next day it returned to it usual level. Luckily all was good and no need (other than lowering pump speeds) to change anything else.
I do wish we had some 20C days here in Southern Ontario, Canada. For the past couple of weeks we've had mid to upper 30C days with more forecast over the coming days. Yesterday my pond temp was 28C although slightly cooler this morning. Hopefully you've got the drum sorted but the certainly was a lot of crap going done the waste chute so the drum is doing its job. Fish are looking great. Cheers.
Ha well as its been so hot 20c feels a bit fresh out there now lol. YEah 12 hours or so of mess but its all pretty ok now thank god
When do I get my medal 🏅 then Andy I always get to the end 🤣😉
Its in the post, should receive it by 2025 lol
@@koidiaries haha 😄 😆
Hi Andy, fish looking good and good hearing you in Koizone
Cheers buddy, yeah was a good hour chatting, may have to pop back on at some point for sure :-)
You know what you need Andy. A RO unit so you can dump some water after doing treatments then you can fill back up without waiting a lifetime. Put a bit of bi carb in to buffer the RO. Job done 👍
Ha yeah its potentially on the radar for sure, im sure ive said a thousand times but yeah i think RO is deffo on the cards at some point for sure
@@koidiaries 🤣🤣 do it
Just about managed it lol hope its all sorted now stay safe and well
Yeah luckily all sorted ;-) Cheers
Good see you bk Andy hope got things sorted mate 👍
Ha yeah sorted eventually what a hilarious few hours i had im telling ya lol
@@koidiaries live and learn never thought you would have problem you will no nx time mate 👍
I run my rinse pump on its own water supply but can also isolate it to just just use the pond water to great. For if treating the pond
Yeah theres a few ppl i know running a header tank with a ball valve to switch between clean side of drum also.
@@koidiaries yer it’s a good I dear. Just forget to put an isolator on mine so I can turn it off if I’m not using it 🤦🏼♂️
15:23 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
LOL yup lucky I had the camera on really otherwise no one would of known i got soaked, TWICE! LOL
@@koidiaries 🤣🤣🤣 I was pmsl
Why cant/not feed the drum cleaning pump with fresh water , won’t need to go through a dechlorinator as it’s only cleaning a screen and going straight to waste, I would of thought that would be the better way to do it , also heard on the nozzles getting clogged with algae etc (over a few years) using pond water although it’s free of solids it still has the nutrients for bio film to be formed in cleaning pump/ pipes and nozzles . but I assume drum manufacturers are making these on the basis that not everyone has a fresh tap water outlet close by.
I used to use pond water to clean drum, had similar issues so put a separate water tank with ball valve for auto top up. Problem solved 👍
Yeah luckily only an issue as its cleaning like mad to clear the pond water , usually not an issue. All good now though :-)
Lol the joys of having a drum 😁 hopefully it's all running well today now.
You don't have far to go for the show in August then 🤣
Yup thank god all looking well today, and yeah less than 4 miles to the show ground, literally on my door step, woohoo!!!
One word on drum maintenance “ TWAT “ 🤣🤣🤣
Yup lol Brain was not engaged, as per usual really lol
I am down under and yeah 41c is HOT...
Its the domino effect. One problem cascades to another which then for some reason.. causes another.
Your water is gonna take a few days to get back to the clarity your used to .. just give it some time.. and keep an eye out for more flashing.
Yeah always the way, one thing leads to another, normally in a different direction to the one you planned lol. Water this morning is looking pretty good so well on the way to getting it back to where it should be
Hi Andrew , What is your opinion on the Aqua forte dm vario pumps you are using ? please
Well so far so good, the 20k one ive had for 3 years or so, and never been a problem, the 30k was new 12 months ago and again all good so far. I no there have been a few that have had problems but lukily for me its all good
Not sure why you are not using filtered tap water to clean the drum, this is your water change ?
The majority (probably 90%+) of the water sprayed out to clean the screen goes down thwe waste chute to the drain hence having to have a constant top up as im using pond water to clean the screen.
Get some vortex brushes to put in the dirty side for when you by pass the drum… catches all the large lumps of poo and stops them going on the bio
Oh yeahgood shout, tbh its the first time ive done this, i was just worried the drum would take out all the Lernex, but worth remembering for future if i do it again
Interesting and something to watch out for with future treatments etc, need to arrange that visit to the diary mansion…;)
Well, ive never bypassed it before for that length of time so was a first for me too, honestly i thought it was just going to be a simple fit bungs drink tea moment lol hey ho. Drop me an email dude :-)
hi where did you get the bungs from please
queni-koi.co.uk/filtration-c36/drum-combi-accessories-c123
Here you go :-)
Hi Andy . Does your drum not have an option to run directly from mains pressure ? Seems a ridiculous amount of leccy just to clean the drum .
Mains pressure isnt enough to clean the drum screen adequately, remember though im only guessing at these costs, maybe just not having kettle on as much as its been hot, or washing machine not used as much etc etc added to this guesstimate as well.
Why didn't you just do like a 40 percent water change. That would of diluted it some so that you could keep the shower on.. Its going to take a week or so to build up the bio so watch your amonia and nitrite.
I cant change that much water as im gravity fed there wont be enough water in the drum. And yeah im expecting a bit of a spike but at 23c it wont take long to catch up
After saving £1.50 a day for a week, you now paying £10 extra a day while it catches up 😄
I know how hilarious, luckily that was yesterday normal service resumed today and all is good ;-)
water was quickly clearing up mate
Yup this morning we're nearly there, so a few hours of mess yesterday not the end of the world really
Trials and tribulations of a Koi Keeper 😂 we’ve all been there mate, nothing relaxing about this so called hobby.
Yup, and even when you think it is easy or relaxing always something to bite your ass lol
