I love John Mulaney. He was a writer on SNL for years, and some of the characters he wrote are among the best, like Bill Hader’s, “Stefon”comes to mind.

Dude is family friendly vanilla bs. It's boring. At least Nate Bargatzi makes me laugh sometimes. Nick Kroll mr Nepotism whose hand every role to him because of family connections? I would recommend either his legendary "horse in a hospital" or "Back to the Future is very weird". I love his stuff but some of it can be very referential and specific. For instance, I love his Law and Order stuff, but if you haven't watched those shows it probably wouldn't work, or at least not nearly as well. His humor isn't quite as vanilla as this clip would make it seem, but it's not the kind that seeks to be provocative either. He's like a more contemporary and slightly edgier Jerry Seinfeld in some ways, a lot of observational stuff.

John Mulaney’s stand-up material over the past decade or so has arguably been the best in the game - he’s certainly been my personal favorite over that time.
Honestly, I can only think of maybe 3-4 other comedians who are even on the same level in terms of the overall quantity of consistent quality of their material. Of course there have been some really good performances by other comedians in that time, but Mulaney has put out 3 historically good hour-long specials since 2012 (plus another just over a decade ago, from 2009, which is also really good, if not historically so). Off the top of my head I can think of Norm MacDonald, Jim Jeffries, Bill Burr, Sarah Silverman, and Brian Regan (and I guess maybe Louis C.K.). That’s about it, though, in terms of comedians who are even in the conversation. Well, certainly Bo Burnham could be included too, but comparing what he does to regular stand-up comedy just doesn’t make much sense to me.
Oh, and obviously there’s Dave Chappelle and the 6 one-hour specials he’s done so far in that time (in fact, he’s done all 6 of those in just the past 5 years, which is beyond crazy; just absolutely absurd), but I feel like he’s simply on a different level than everyone else - alongside George Carlin & Lenny Bruce as, essentially, stand-up gods.

Not funny yes. If you issues with "problematic" entertainers stop consuming entertainment. You're not going to like the truth

Mulaney is pretty clean and vanilla. Palatable for the masses. Boring imo. Check out Tim Dillon. Hes the hottest comedian right now. Hes right up your alley. More Dave Attel. Big Jay Oakerson, Dan Soder, some Cumtown bits from the podcast. Indian Sopranos is a good one.
