You wont remember but i was at your summer bball camp one year in like 9th grade and you took time to talk to me during camp a little bit and also took a picture with my mom who loves you and ill never forget that man you made my summer just by talking to me and then afterwards kind enough to take a picture with my mom when you were in a bit of a hurry to get out of there, you made her whole summer too. Thank you man. Respect always.

I didn’t like him at Duke, but Grayson Allen is from Jacksonville, Florida, like myself. Glad to see somebody from a state, and area, known for football, make it to the league. He’s not the only one, but it doesn’t get talked about much.

Best podcast out there, so insightful,& hilarious. JJ, how do we get you off the Pelicans,& on the Nugs? You are exactly what we need..basically the only thing we need-other than experience-which you would help with. I wanted the Nugs to trade for you, I think 2yrs ago. Seriously, you added on the Nugs, plus a bit more experience-MPJ,& Bol Bol growing up..you could help get us multiple rings-lol! But stop with the Memphis got a raw deal. Whatd they win..1 game? And yes, they had a tough schedule, like most teams. But what you don't mention is many of those games were against teams like Denver,Lakers, etc-who rested a bunch of guys in the seeding games. They will learn from this-but face it-Memphis was a young team that flat out choked. It happened to Denver sometimes in their rise-but don't make excuses.
As for leaving college early, JJ is right if it's only an economical argument. And some guys aren't as good as they think they are. If you are certain to be a lottery pick..or even a 1st rounder-I get it. But these fools who go 1,& done,& don't even get drafted-they can ruin their lives, when sometimes 1 more year would take them from undrafted to a 1st rounder. The guy you mentioned who was 1,& done,& is now in the Gleague..come on.I would much rather be playing at Duke, with a chance to go to a Final 4,& maybe turn myself into a draftable player. As opposed to playing in the Gleague,& trying to stand out-in a league nobody cares about. And barely making any money. A lot of guys listen to terrible advice, dont get drafted,& have nothing to fall back on. We rarely hear those stories, as they are soon forgotten. Bet that guy wishes he'd come back 1 more year. For virtual lock 1st rounders-I agree. But many fringe guys do themselves a dis service,& never make the league, or are out of it very soon, without any security of a 3 year guaranteed contract-which they may have improved enough to get with 1 more year,& being a 2 & done-who might get more shots the next season. So some arbitrary, blanket statement that everybody should leave is ridiculous to me. It's much more case by case,& nuanced than that. And that doesn't even take into account other considerations-beyond money-that clearly played a roll in Grayson's case. No matter how beloved say JJ Tatum is at Duke,& how much NBA success he has, I can't believe that those 1,& done guys will ever be as special to Duke fans-or even coach K,& the Duke family-as some guy who stays 2,3,or 4 yrs-like you 2.

Grayson Allen can really be a good role player on great contending teams who have a star his whole career as long as he works hard... He plays hard defense and he's okay with just watching a guy like Ja or Giannis do their thing and wait until the defense starts helping for his open looks.

Same. He's very much JJ coming into the league, a notorious heel (though Grayson has been dirtier on the court). But once you take away his association with Duke and his on-court antics, he's a chill dude.
He's a good guy, just very emotional on the court. And when the whole country starts to view you as a criminal at Duke, it can definitely make a player have a few rash decisions on the court.
