Everyone keeps saying that the C’s have dominated the series in Games 1-3. Games 2&3 were close. If Dallas’ role players had contributed anything in games 2 or 3 the series would have had a totally different vibe.
My take on it exactly! The Celtics just did win games 2&3. An the Mavericks hadn't brought their A game. Tonight will tell the story of how bad the Mavericks want to win! I'm pulling for the Mavericks!

Exactly the same thing happened in the NHL game four. It's not that shocking. You have one team that's desperate to stay alive and another that knows that they get four games to win one.

The start of the game is key for both teams. I’m interested to see if Kidd starts with Lively & Green instead of DJJ & Gafford to push for an early lead with their best lineup or just sub them early like he did in game 4. The Kleber & a big lineups cutoff a lot of drive and kick for Boston and if that translates well in another game then I think Dallas at least on defense can keep the game close and put the ball in Luka, Kyrie, & Co to score timely to stack games. Dallas should be able to double paint points the rest of this series with KP out and Mavs defense protecting the rim and good help to run shooters off the 3, Celtics could be dangerously reliant on pull-up 3s and middys versus Dallas getting whatever they want shot diet wise.
It’s J Kidd, he’ll probably start with THJ and a towel boy then be confused when he’s on the L end of a run
Luka had no legs the last game, no lift to make a three but he adapted and looked dominate. That is what he does but that was not full Luka mode. All the emotion will be with Boston to open the game but it was with the home team in 2020 in PHX and in Minn in 2024 WCF and he came out in a pivotal game on the road and dominated the first 15 minutes. I doubt he has the legs to do it again but like Bird he is that guy that has the ability and shear drive to tear the other teams heart out on the road.

I've listened to two full podcasts on this subject today, and I'm absolutely amazed that no one has even mentioned the name of PJ Washington. He's Dallas 's Third Best shooter. He can at times put pressure on the rim. Very strange that he's completely ignored.

I couldn't stop laughing when, at the beginning, JJ leans forward to let out a silent fart. Right at the 30 second mark. No wonder he was saying "love that love that."
The Boston offense is unlike any other offense in the NBA, and I think the mental load on the Dallas D to adapt was very high for the first three games (thus the "film only" practice sessions before game 4). I'm not saying that Dallas can stop the Celtics -- the Celtics are going to make adjustments and they've got great players -- but that mental load aspect *might* be finally coming down to a more manageable level, and might not be such a huge negative.
Another thing people ignore is that Boston missed open jumpers AND layups, it just wasn't their night. Mavs defense was better, no doubt, but Celtics missed so many shots that they were just like 'whatever, game 5 it is'. Personally, I knew it was over once Lively hit a three

im not sure i would say the celtics has the adv on game 7, the mental stress of becoming the first team to be reverse swept in a series is legit, it could sharpen or break the team and i wouldnt be the one that would like to bet to see how the celtics would react to that pressure. And game 6 on the mavs court is going to be a nightmare if they get this one, so yeah, game 5 is the best oportunity for the celtics to close out this run

Boston just shot poorly game 4. They had good looks and drives to the rim but just missed. Dallas defense played better but they got lucky on a lot of possessions. Offensively Dallas finally attacked Horfard on the switches.

Sports gambling destroyed the the league, i almost threw away my life savings for betting against celtics because of the media narratives that told us that they had an easier path to the finals. But i knew when luka had that game 5 wcf performance against the minessota which was similar to his performance to game 7 against the suns, I followed their next series against golden state and it was exactly the same. 4-1, they also won in game 5 in that series. Boston has an issue. They have to finish this series TONIGHT! When I hear JT talking about there being time, and we know he is just repeating a team belief, that is playing with something they don't quite understand. Their main impediment is the issue of who is going to win Finals MVP. The story just came up about KD winning that second Finals MVP. Steph was being interviewed by Doris Burke ironically, and KD was dancing right in front of him with both trophies. I know what I saw. Everyone has a take and an opinion. Fast forward to 2022 and recall the emotional outburst of Steph. You would think it was from winning a 4th title. Hmmm
..maybe, but I feel it had more to do with that MVP trophy. The Celtics have to resolve the sentiment around this issue. They can ignore it. I would not. It can literally turn the team into a bunch of individuals, and they could seriously flirt with an infamous type of history, losing a 3-0 lead. Finals MVP or not only be without a title, but be the only team ever.....No matter what, Tatum has to be a super-BULLY, or there could be serious problems. Rinse your heart about how you feel about that trophy, or open the door to historical problems.
Dallas is trending in the right direction, but they have issues too. Hardaway is the more obvious. He hasn't been playing, but it wasn't because his shot was not falling. The other is the Mr Lively staying in his lane. Never forget, always lurking about is the potential evils of the media. Earlier in the series, J Kidd says one thing and the reporter runs it past every talking member on both teams as to how they felt. This time, they have a rookie who was a no-show in the first two games, getting put into the same sentence as Magic Johnson, then being gassed up about shooting 3 pointers, fresh off waving off refs like he was some type of veteran. Love his confidence and belief in himself, but that all spelled S-E-T. U-P. Lively's incredibly valuable to everything Dallas, when he os on rails, just doing his job. He is much more Clint Capela than Magic. Much more. Not even a pinch of hate. Go for it or not. I know how to win. It's not what people think. Ever heard a reporter apologize for planting crappy seeds, giving crappy advice or selling a crappy narrative that make people lose? They want content, good or bad, period. Proper balance. Now if Lively gets 27 and 14, which can also happen, then he has to talk. As a rookie though, wouldn't be me. Luka and Kyrie got this.
Hepefully game 5 will be an instant classic. I love a silent Luka. I lobe a testy, not so nice Tatum. What did he tell that reporter? " y'all just gonna say we didn't play anybody." Yeah, that Tatum. I wanna see a ferocious Brown and a surgical Kyrie (that doesn't just run into 3 pointers just because). Who do I want to win? The winner! Let's go!!!
Legs would make a solid head coach. He should know that window of opportunity is there. JJ can handle it if Legs gets the Lakers gig.
Dallas bench won that game. The starters outside of Luka really didn’t do much.
Luka has the best defensive rating on his team at 110. It’s lower than Lively’s and Gafford’s whose are 111. Luka is the first player in NBA history to lead the playoffs in points, assists, rebounds, and steals. If you’re going to slam a player, he’s not the one.
He is a great scorer creator you mist of not of heard how they trashed jordan for years this is light. They make all the great ones go through thos gauntlet its ridiculous but the few great one's go through it . Wash rinse repeat cycle.
