Trey Lance doesn't throw INT's because he doesn't throw the ball. He's a running QB. And running QB's suck in the NFL because they are injury prone, and defenses can stop a running QB when they have to. Look at his highlights. He might as well switch position to RB. He's a hard no for me. and I don't like Trevor Lawrence, because he lacks the fire. Mac Jones is possible, but he was made to look good by the incredible talent around him at Alabama. The best QB in this draft is probably Justin Fields.
Please tell Skip to watch Trey Lance's game against UC Davis. It's on CZcams. He made some amazing throws, but missed some high school level throws. His accuracy is so inconsistent.

Better Jones than Lance. If Shanni has proved anything it’s that he has a problem with QBs. He can’t train them, not even a little. Niners need nearly a finished product, an already “pro style” qb. niners are in trouble either way.
@Cedrick Carson barely. Just in their style of play really. Jones is used to standin back there. Lance is more physically talented. Mentally they seem pretty even, but Lance may need more coaching initially based on his style of play. Who knows though, If Lance’s speed translates well and he actually can hang in the pocket and use all their options offensively. Then he could be really good. Or maybe the niners will just switch gears a little and become more like the ravens O if they take lance?

I never understood the "49ers traded up to get Mac Jones" thing. I mean, I like the guy, but before the trade and the rumor, he was thought of as late first round pick or even second round. They would most likely get him without trading up. What's the point of throwing away future picks and trading up to get a guy, who would be available for you without it anyway?

The reason you don't test drive cars is that you know if it breaks down you can just go buy a new one. Teams can't be as reckless as you and just draft a QB and if it doesn't work out they just go to the QB lot and get a new one. All future NFL GMs, it would be wise to not listen to Shannon Sharp unless you want to get fired. Test drive, test drive, then test drive some more until you are comfortable, or you may be the next GM to draft the next Ryan Leaf or JaMarcus Russell. They would be fools to take Trey Lance over some of these other QBs at the 3rd spot but they still need to test drive.
Why would you want to pick a QB that reminds you of Matt Ryan? He has not won squat. How about drafting a QB that reminds you of Brady, Rodgers, Wilson etc

Hey couple years back Cleveland could have had Saquan and Lamar Jackson instead of Chubb and Mayfield. Hindsight is 20/20, in the present it can go a bunch of different ways. Plus, depends where you wind up. Going to a bad team can ruin just about any player no matter how good they are.

I think everybody is far more stressed over this decision than the 49ers. They are the best organization picking in the top of the draft. It doesn't matter which quarterback they choose. That individual will have the best NFL career. These other teams have been known to wreck quarterbacks. Imo, the Niners should go with the 20 year old Trey Lance.

I thoroughly enjoyed this segment! Shannon made some great points about Mac Jones, specifically about his ball placement that contributed to receivers gaining extra yards after the catch. Think about the weapons on the 49ers. Kittle is great after the catch, Deebo is great after the catch, and even Aiyuk (who could be on the verge of a monster season as the team's WR1) is also great after the catch. I get the point people make about the trade up for Mac Jones and I think the 49ers wanted to ensure that they get Mac Jones, Trey Lance, or Justin Fields before their original 12th pick. There are multiple teams in that part of the draft that need a QB and so their chances of getting any of those 3 QBs had they stayed at 12, would have been slim. If I'm the 49ers GM then I would choose Lance bc I see leader written all over him, I believe he fits this offense almost perfectly just looking at some of his college team's play formations, thinking about the fact that they used FBs just like the 49ers do with Juszczyk, the similarities in how they used their TEs, and so on. Another aspect that Lance brings that I like more so than with Mac Jones is the ability on off-platform throws. Yes, I know Lance has wheels, which is an added threat for defenses to account for, and when plays break down, I believe Lance has the ability to extend plays better than Jones and then make something out of nothing, whether that is with his legs or simply throwing on the move. Think about the NFC West. The Rams pass rush is an absolute nightmare so having someone like Trey Lance is I believe a plus over Mac Jones. Even the Cardinals could be a problem with Chandler Jones back and now Watt is also there to wreak havoc. Can't wait to see who the 49ers draft! I'ma be ecstatic if it's Lance! Forget the risk. Lance worked with Kyle's guy John Beck and Lance is a smart player with great discipline based on what I have read and heard about his upbringing. He had the choice of staying an additional season with NDSU after their team's canceled 2020 season, instead, he declared for the draft, and if both John Beck and Lance's NDSU HC believe in his ability at the next level then what more is there to talk about? If Lance goes to the 49ers, mark my words, I believe Trey Lance will end up being the best QB in this draft class (barring any setbacks)!

Jones seems to be the opposite of Fields if you look at the attributes. One is mobile, the other is a pocket passer. And Lance kinda lands in the middle, except with possibly the strongest arm out of al of them.

I think it was the 49ners plan all along to "test drive" each car they want to buy so-to-speak. It's not doing their due diligence otherwise. The dealer may want to show me another option, I'll look at it, but it doesn't mean I'm going to change my mind, but if the other option happens to be better I'll buy it, lol.
