- Micah Parsons got an early Christmas gift yesterday, becoming the first Dallas Cowboys rookie to make the Pro Bowl since Dak Prescott and Ezekiel Elliott in 2016. When talking about his success this season, the linebacker credited defensive coordinator Dan Quinn, saying quote: 'He tries to make sure he lets everyone eat. They’re part of the lion pack now. There is no more lone lion. It’s the pride now. Everybody has got to get a piece of the gazelle... When you get your opportunity, you’ve got to make sure you finish, because I know those other guys will.' Skip Bayless and Shannon Sharpe react to the linebacker's words.

Micah Parsons will have a 5+ sack game in one of these last 3 games... Maybe even the playoffs. ;)
This kid reminds me of Derrick Thomas and Lawrence Taylor.
Congratulations to Micah Parsons for making the pro bowl as a rookie 👏🏽
I love the way they use him, in that you don't know what he's going to do. His presence and production actually makes it harder to scheme against the other rushers. Leads to more one on one's for other guys and creates team pressure.
I agree. Also think stats like passes broken up and tackles should be considered more highly than they are. Sacks are more game changing, but they are thought of too high relative to the more bread and butter play making.
Thank god Skip isn’t our D coordinator
Preach
@Coffee cup I disagree we got 4 years to get it done but this year I have to disagree because #30 is going to be the issue. Dudes going to cost this defense in PI calls or just get beat. Need another CB on the right side of Diggs
If you watch the Giants game closely, the Giants made sure there was an extra person there to help block. And in the run game, they were adamant in making sure a guard or tackle got to him immediately.
That's because he's a beast. I'm glad that I have a few of his rookie cards
Selling? 👀
How you get them?
Put them cards in a sleeve and find a way to get him to sign them! You may have some serious money on your hands in the future
@@rodneyreapergaming just bought some packs at Target
I hate to admit it but I agree with Skip. Micah Parsons is really nice & humble young dude. He would make any defense in the NFL better day 1.
It's crazy how he can rush the passer on one play, then play coverage the next. I don't know how he fell so the way to the Cowboys
@@jwill1203 He optioned out of his senior year due to covid and Dallas took a chance on a guy that hadn't played in over a year. Plus teams apparently didn't know what kinda talent Parsons would be and how much he would effect. Lotta people forget that Vegas odds and stats don't predict, passion, heart, desire, strength of mind. It forgets to calculate the importance of the human being mind and how much strive it can have. Just my opinion anyways.
Funny cause he didn’t even want him on draft night
Agreed! He has every reason to be arrogant, but he's clearly raised to be confident & humble in his confidence.
The Giants will regret trading down and not drafting Parsons themselves for years to come.
Remember when skip was disappointed when Micah Parsons was drafted?
A great thing to see with Micah making it in. WELL DESERVED for the vote. Winning football games is the ONLY concern everyone should have BUT Parsons since hes a rookie nd tryna find his way to figure out who he is as a football player.
Fans have this delusion that players should have winning as everyone priority. Kind of astounding.
Congrats to Micah Parsons. Keep doing your thing bro.
Micah is a beast!
The fact that we are debating a rookie possibly being the best defender in the league is insane. Parsons and Darius Leonard will be great for their era like Ray Lewis and Brian Urlacher was. Generational talents.
Leonard is really good, not a generational talent doe

As a eagles fan Micah parsons is a baller he deserves it
Parsons is all over the field and when is the last time the guy got flagged? He's amazing at any role they put him in.
Skip “tore my guts out” Bayless
Micah could become a hall of fame off ball linebacker if he’s given chances to play off ball, he want ever become elite in coverage or off ball run defense if he’s never given snaps their. He could be as a elite a coverage and run defending line backer as he is a pass rusher he just needs time. People don’t realize that’s its way easier to adjust from college as a pass rusher than a Coverage LB or run stopper
I want to hear Shannon's reaction to the Cowboys 56-14 win over Washington...that will be good! How bout them Cowboys!
Great player!! Let's see how he does next season! Best players are the ones that dominate even with film on them!
There's nothing stopping teams from using film this year that's out already. It's hard for defenses to plan for an inside linebacker in pass protection because they don't know if he's coming or not and when they do bring him a lot of the times it's on stunts or a delayed blitz that almost always gets him 1 on 1 with a guard, tight end, or running back. I think Dallas is using him perfectly especially because D-Law and Gregory is back and they don't need to bring him every down. Blitzing or putting him on the edge on 3rd.
Micah 🔥❤️🔥🚀🤯
Wasn’t Vander-Esch a pro bowler when he was a rookie? Or what am I missing?
Yeah he was
The first step to bigger things. All pro--yes, DROY--yes, DPOY--possibly
I think he is the DPOY. Sacks weigh too heavily when it comes to defensive player of the year. Micah’s impact is unmatched around the entire NFL. This team had one of the worst Cowboys defenses ever last year and now they are top 10. Plus he has way more tackles than every player with 10+ sacks. He’s doing it all for Dallas’ defense.
@@skillethead15 TJ watt is putting up unprecedented numbers on limited games and has had a dpoy caliber season for the 3rd year in a row. Mikah is great and he will probably win dpoy some day but if TJ doesn’t win it’s a highway robbery
@@brandonkiefer5766 I wouldn’t say unprecedented. Derrick Thomas had 20 sacks in 15 games. And the greatest sack season ever was Reggie White in 1987 when he had 21 sacks in 12 games. Watt is having an amazing year but what Micah is doing is truly unprecedented. This much impact on a defense by a rookie hasn’t been seen in a very long time. He’s first on his team in sacks by a longshot, second in tackles, more than double anyone else’s tackles for loss, and the most forced fumbles. He’s got a very strong case for MVP even though he isn’t leading the league in sacks.
@@skillethead15 TJ doesn’t only get sacks though he’s also 2nd in the league in TFLs and I’m sure he’ll finish the season leading in TFLs and with over 20 sacks on a defense that has been terrible without him. Not discrediting Mikah but I think it’s unfair for TJ Watt to have a strong case for DPOY for 3 straight years without winning it once. Every time TJ finishes another dominant year there’s always excuses to try to discredit him. Before the argument was that his defense is too great around him and he faces no double teams. Now he’s facing some of the most double teams in the league carrying the defense and the argument now is that Mikah plays multiple positions and he doesn’t. I also believe it’s completely unfair for a rookie to jump the line and win a DPOY over a vet when it’s such a close race and Mikah will surely win the award later in his career
And Myles Garret?
Man, I can't believe how far the Cowboys defense has come. Last year our defense was literally laughable, and now, we have a respected group, with pro bowlers.
Skip calls Quinn but fails to realize that he’s a big part of the defensive success
Defensive player of the year. And defensive rookie of the year. You can argue myles and tj all you want. Dude has 3 less sacks than them and 40 more tackles. If he actually rushed the passes in the 5 games dlaw and Gregory played he would easily be at 15 also. But 5 of those game he had to play coverage and still played great.
Nick Bosa
Skip needs to stop I swear everytime he opens his mouth to talk about the defense he misses the point of what Quinn has actually done to flip the defense the first thing is that he simplified the Scheme,he added Parsons who is literally a Swift Army knife on defense, he has the players engaged on their assigments and they hold eachother accountable this defense is miles ahead of where it was last year thanks to Dan Quinn
Parsons is nice.
The guy isn’t even peaked yet already killing the game

I’ve realized the only segments on this show are Cowboys, Brady, and Lebron lmao
Cowboys going all the way this year
I might sound crazy but there’s a chance.
I sure hope they do. To tell the truth I’d be happy to see them win the NFC championship game.
Not with with Dak as QB
I would like to see him play more defensive end though. He's a very good player. Speed and quickness is his trademark. Strong enough to move big offensive lineman out of his path.
I'd be massively surprised if Micah isn't a captain next year and he won't let that go for anything
You would be wasting Micah if you only just had him rush the passer he can do so much more
There stacked with pass rushers but thin at LB that’s why he has to play there for rn
Exactly why us here in Dallas don't want this man routing for our Dallas cowboys.. D.Quinn has did amazing with what he had and we're looking respectable.. Last yr we sucked tbh and I'm proud to say our Boys making Dallas lit again
Jayron Kearse is a huge leader on this defense too, we need to lock him up
“Dan Quinn runs cover 1, cover 3.” Is how you know Shannon don’t really be watching. Haven’t run that 1 high all season.
So their running cover 3 all the time? I know that's DQ's wheelhouse but he forsure mixes it up.
Mostly been running man all year. We better at man than any other coverage.
Micah Parsons is the first Cowboys Pro Bowler since 2018, not 2016. LB Leighton Vander Esch was a rookie Pro Bowler in 2018. Dak Prescott and Ezekiel Elliott were rookie Pro Bowlers in 2016.
I'm not a Cowboy fan. But Parsons is DPY. He's been phenomenal.

@@smash718 if ur gonna disagree with Micah being DPOY, I can't fathom thinking anyone other than TJ Watt
@@smash718 Yeah. Probably going to be him or T.J. Watt tbh.
Nice
LVE made the pro bowl his rookie year for the cowboys
I love the Cowboys and firmly believe Jordan is the GOAT, but Shannon is right more than Skip. Skip doesn’t understand that no one can effectively rush the passer 50x a game. Micah has rushed about 30% of his plays. Take out the running plays and the times he had to cover backs out of the backfield and few zone schemes and he’s right about where he should be until they either move him to edge rusher or change to a 3-4 defense. Also if lines up to rush every time, offenses will account for him more effectively. Being a linebacker is great position to rush the QB because they’re not accounted for a well as lineman. Also Skip is only worried about sack count, but at LB, how many screen plays, passes to the flats, and rolling out QBs has he foiled. Quinn is doing the right thing for the TEAM
Cowboys will be 2022 version of Patriot, will be the SB winner for the next 10 years.
2:44 i agree with ol skip
The fact that he's a linebacker he can't rush the quarterback every time he's on the field. He has enough speed the cover tight ends.
Our whole defense is great this year , he’ll even Anthony Brown isn’t doing terrible ! They say defense wins chips and if Dak gets back on track watch out !
Panthers fan here….and some of you may think this is a stretch…and maybe it is…the Cowboys haven’t won as many games, but they remind me of my 2015 (15-1) Panthers team. I just feel the energy. I wouldn’t be surprised one bit if this Cowboys team goes to the Super Bowl. Dak needs to play better, yes, but with that defense….you can win in the playoffs
So tired of skip complaining about Dallas defense! Just look what Dan Quinn has done with that defense in one year! A historic turnaround! Skip needs to shut up and trust Dan Quinn!!!!!
We Dem Boys for Real 😳
I think they saving Micah for the playoffs they gone show dat line Shannon talking about more and rush him more
100+ tackles, 10+ tkl for loss, no pro bowl. Ladies and gentlemen, Nick Bolton

I’m pretty sure Vander Esch made it
All the way back in ‘16
These LT comparisons are getting out of hand.
Not really he’s playing jus as good in a rookie season everybody knows LT is the goat parsons jus jumps off the screen like he does relax
Wait wasn't LVE a pro bowlers his rookie year?

Like to see parsons in a running back situation
I think Skip just wants Micah to be a DE at this point
He should be
If Micah rushed more. He would only have two more sacks. I think he’s a good player but he ain’t winning DPOY. I think Diggs and TJ are above him. Especially when both Diggs and TJ are closing in on records this year

I'd rather the defense be better as a whole than Parsons get extra stats to make DPOTY. They way they use Parsons is the best way, keeps the offense guessing what he's doing.
The only linebacker who may be more disruptive overall is Darius Leonard
Micah plays like Troy Polamalu. And even though it isn't recommended. If they play him at SS his stats will flourish
Leighton vander esch doesn’t exist?
no skip you can not do that, it got to be a team thing, you can create problems when you do, now i would put parsons at end some time and fake blitz all the time, and keep the to other end in with him, put him on the end next to the end with a fake blitz, but most of the time with his quickness he is coming at you, he is not dropping back
Wasn't LVE in the pro bowl as a rookie

Did anybody ever hear of Roger staubach Fran Tarkinton and Steve Young Jim Zorn John elway and a couple others in between Josh Allen Aaron Rodgers early in his career you can find them in the college ranks all you have to do is look there's about 500 quarterbacks in college right now I'm sure you could get a Steve Young or a Jim Zorn or John elway or a Fran Tarkington

I was saying it at the draft praying the giants took him and than the cowboys traded up and stole him it was so depressing
What are you talking about the Giants could’ve had him but traded down with the Bears who grabbed Fields with that Giant pick. The Cowboys actually traded down after the CBs that they wanted were selected and then have Parsons fall into their lap.
Wanted the eagles to draft him so bad🤦🏽♂️💀
Too bad
The funny thing is they traded up #10 with the Cowboys to get WR DeVonta Smith so the Giants wouldn’t get him and then the disappointed Giants then traded down to the Bears who grabbed QB Justin Fields with that #11 pick. I guess only time will tell who makes out best.
