  • Micah Parsons got an early Christmas gift yesterday, becoming the first Dallas Cowboys rookie to make the Pro Bowl since Dak Prescott and Ezekiel Elliott in 2016. When talking about his success this season, the linebacker credited defensive coordinator Dan Quinn, saying quote: 'He tries to make sure he lets everyone eat. They’re part of the lion pack now. There is no more lone lion. It’s the pride now. Everybody has got to get a piece of the gazelle... When you get your opportunity, you’ve got to make sure you finish, because I know those other guys will.' Skip Bayless and Shannon Sharpe react to the linebacker's words.

I love the way they use him, in that you don't know what he's going to do. His presence and production actually makes it harder to scheme against the other rushers. Leads to more one on one's for other guys and creates team pressure.

I agree. Also think stats like passes broken up and tackles should be considered more highly than they are. Sacks are more game changing, but they are thought of too high relative to the more bread and butter play making.

There's nothing stopping teams from using film this year that's out already. It's hard for defenses to plan for an inside linebacker in pass protection because they don't know if he's coming or not and when they do bring him a lot of the times it's on stunts or a delayed blitz that almost always gets him 1 on 1 with a guard, tight end, or running back. I think Dallas is using him perfectly especially because D-Law and Gregory is back and they don't need to bring him every down. Blitzing or putting him on the edge on 3rd.

Watt is having an amazing year but what Micah is doing is truly unprecedented. This much impact on a defense by a rookie hasn’t been seen in a very long time. He’s first on his team in sacks by a longshot, second in tackles, more than double anyone else’s tackles for loss, and the most forced fumbles. He’s got a very strong case for MVP even though he isn’t leading the league in sacks.

Not discrediting Mikah but I think it’s unfair for TJ Watt to have a strong case for DPOY for 3 straight years without winning it once. Every time TJ finishes another dominant year there’s always excuses to try to discredit him. Before the argument was that his defense is too great around him and he faces no double teams. Now he’s facing some of the most double teams in the league carrying the defense and the argument now is that Mikah plays multiple positions and he doesn’t. I love the Cowboys and firmly believe Jordan is the GOAT, but Shannon is right more than Skip. Skip doesn’t understand that no one can effectively rush the passer 50x a game. Micah has rushed about 30% of his plays. Take out the running plays and the times he had to cover backs out of the backfield and few zone schemes and he’s right about where he should be until they either move him to edge rusher or change to a 3-4 defense. Also if lines up to rush every time, offenses will account for him more effectively. Being a linebacker is great position to rush the QB because they’re not accounted for a well as lineman. Also Skip is only worried about sack count, but at LB, how many screen plays, passes to the flats, and rolling out QBs has he foiled. Quinn is doing the right thing for the TEAM
