    One thing about cemetery is it's frozen in time, and the world changing around it.

    Lol. Yeah, that's cool. Barnabas Collins on Dark Shadows was played by Jonathan Frid from 1967 until the show ended in 1971, then reprised the role for the movie "House of Dark Shadows" in 1971.

    It’s both sad, mysterious and intriguing, when you see these old old graves, often telling a short story about the deceased people, and it’s obvious the loss was deep. Now, nobody is left from that family today, or sadder still, they aren’t aware of their family history. Sure, most have moved away probably too.

    • @CryptDoor
      @CryptDoor  Před 8 měsíci

      Yeah, it’s probably so far down the family tree. They don’t realize who their family is or where they’re at.

      @@CryptDoor If you ever get a chance to look at videos of La Ricoleta cemetery, it is so large you could spend a lifetime there studying the many different stories and mausoleums, it is very educational!

    Loved the opening shot with all the flowers. So sad about the children😞 Dark Shadows was such a cool show ( I was a kid) watched after school.

  • @automatedelectronics6062

    Lol! Barnabas Collins! That's a good one! It's a wonder that the gravesite isn't more well-known. It's gotta be a must-see next time I'm in Sacramento. Ofcourse, T.V.'s Barnabas Collins, Jonathan Frid, was cremated and interred in his home town of Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. No chance of him ever rising from his grave!
    Speaking of vampire folklore, graves which were covered with cement or other hard compound, the sign that a vampire has risen, is the slab having cracked and sunken. I've seen graves like this in my cemetery wanderings in Winnemucca, NV.
    Another thing I've always wondered about, big trees in cemeteries. With trees' growing their roots deep into the ground and also being able to spread out, always finding nutrients and water, have these huge, old trees benefited from those buried near them?

    Very nice, well kept cemetery. Love the shade trees. I've always been a Barnabus Collins fan. When they remade the series in the 80's I was hooked.

    Beautiful cemetery, it is very well cared for, especially the section where those former state officials are buried. The monuments are supercool! I liked the veterans section. The family mausoleums were interesting as well. You are correct. Barnabas Collins was the name of the Vampire in the TV 📺 show Dark Shadows, back in the 1970s. I used to watch it, part of the time. Thank you very much Tony, for another great walking tour. I see you are starting to get out of the bay area a little bit
    Have a great day. 😊

    No one visits these as the families are 2 -3 generations past them, so no one remembers them. You do these people from our past a service by keeping their memories alive.

    The bizarre duel on Angel Island that killed a state senator.It’s hard to say which is the greater mystery: why a duel on Angel Island that killed a 33-year-old California state senator ever happened, or why no one managed to stop it when it was all so obviously stupid.Like so many stupid fights, this one started in a bar, between two high-ranking officials who went there together one night in San Francisco in 1858. The following day, U.S. Circuit Court Clerk George Pen Johnston fatally shot state Sen. William I. Ferguson, who accepted the pistol challenge despite never firing a gun in his life.Ferguson died three weeks after he was wounded during the fourth round of shooting on the island in front of a crowd of at least 100 people. That fourth round - they both missed their previous three shots - could have been stopped had he apologized to Johnston. And he probably would have lived even after being shot, had he not refused amputation on his wounded thigh until he had hours left to live.
