A friend used to have a house overlooking the cemetery. She said they were the quietest neighbours in town. She wasn't worried about burglars either because they were too afraid of spirits at night to come anywhere near the cemetery!

This was a great video. N e one that has a Serviceman in the family, share the Vets part with them. Its a beautiful section dedicated those who gave their lIves u for our freedoms. Loved the mausoleums. I've never seen a designated Potters Field archway. Thank u for sharing this with us! Very fascinating n unusual graves!

If these cemeteries have an active maintenance program, I wonder why they don't repair the sunken graves and maybe level out the graves with decorative borders or coverings. The least they could do is to level out the headstones, especially the taller ones, before they topple over.

Fascinating cemetery. I love the old family mausoleums. I think you may be right, there probably was trouble with vandalism, and after the last interments, the mausoleums were probably full, and were thus sealed up. That forgotten section ( or so it seems ) is very sad, there has to be a story there somewhere. 😕 Thank you very much Tony, for another great walking tour, and for driving 🚗 way all the way over and back home. Rasmus Casterson was dressed in his finest to meet and greet relatives and friends at 2 pm at the Presbyterian Church at Pleasanton. He passed away from a lingering illness at his home near Santa Rita. He was laid to rest at the Odd Fellows Cemetery near Pleasanton. I wonder if the Pleasanton Pioneer Cemetery was once name Odd Fellows.

Those old marble stones look good because they are Italian marble imported and glassed with slip and fired in a kiln that turned them into glass on the surface protecting them from the elements plain american marble melts away unless it gets fired some folks wanted to pay the extra so now they still look new.

Looks like they have deliberately hidden those poorer graves away behind the hedges
Clarence Casterson was the only other one from the family that I found any info on. He drowned along with 4 other individuals that were in a yacht during a storm. I put a copy of the story on Find AG.

Do u think the Pioneer Family were moved there from somewhere else. Since they were just bones, they were cremated n that's why each grave is just a small headstone Or maybe, they just buried bones n put the stone over their grave?
I feel like a lot of those graves were brought in from somewhere else n weren't originally buried there. What do u think, Crypt Door?
That one with that Centerstone have those messages inscribed on the side?
