I actually feel so much at peace for the families that are able to afford these and are able to all be together for eternal rest. To me it’s just such a special thing to have at the end. ❤️

Eternal rest? What religion is that?
Our body goes back to dust and ash. If we’re a Christian, our soul departs to be with Jesus to spend our eternity in the New Jerusalem. If we were not saved, we will spend our eternity in the lake of fire being tormented.

I loved the Dark Shaddows music one of the 'shorts' you did.
When folks got carried out of homes they always were carried feet faceing outwards, cause they didn't want the 'sprite' to find their way back to the house if they'd been murdered. Cazy eh? Maybe they didn't want to have to sprite coming back to seek revenge on who killed them?🤔

It is amazing to see these Crypts and Mausoleums (from part 1 and part 2). They are beautiful. I hate to see the broken windows and damage; I hope someone fixes them. Not only are these incredible, they are historic too. Thank you for taking us on a tour!

I have always been fascinated by mausoleums. I guess it’s a combination of my love for history and love for beautiful things. I know the immediate family members from these families are long gone, but I’ve always wondered if the cemetery had keys to these as well? Does anyone know?

Hi Tony, this first mausoleum, as you can tell, this is one of the drawbacks to having windows on a mausoleum.
I almost wish the cemetery management would install iron grills,
instead of boarding up the broken windows. Iron grills would offer
    more security.

Millionaires planned & built their monuments ante-mortem during the Gilded Age as displays of power & wealth. When cremation became popular, many of them chose that option even today. Cemeteries are great to visit-not a place where you can have a family picnic & play baseball on Sunday afternoons. Good stuff! 👍

I've been there a lot of times and have eaten lunch at the Crocker memorial. My fear is that some developer is going to come along and try to buy the cemetery since it is on very valuable land. Hopefully that will never happen. I now live on the other side of the world and really miss this place. I think it is on the same level as Highgate Cemetery in London in terms of how beautiful the funerary architecture is. On the Highgate Cemetery tour they actually let you into the large community mausoleum where you can see actual Victorian coffins in the niches. Around 1971 a bunch of people broke into it, opened the niches and took out the coffins thinking there were vampires there. No joke, it's insane. That's why you can see the coffins there.

You actually could see something through the keyhole. I took three screen shots they are all very interesting. The second one I took I see a face the one right before and after it's not there. Very interesting indeed.

It makes me wonder, for the families nowadays who are still wealthy, why they do not do some maintenance on their family members mausoleum/s after many years. Heck, some of these need a nice exterior cleaning to remove the water marks, biological grow, etc. A contractor with a pressure washer, the right chemicals for stonework, a couple of hours work, etc wouldn't cost them a fart in the wind to do so. It says a lot to me about their families. Mind you, I'm referring to just the families that are still wealthy btw.

The Charles Crocker monument cost $ 90,000 in 1888. About 2.4 million today. Out of curiosity, I looked up some prices on the internet, and modern mausoleums like these are in the five to six figure range, sometimes over a million dollars, depending on size and materials. Guess I’ll have to settle for an urn! LOL
