    Funny you should say that about the nether portal thing. I was playing since alpha 1.2 and I do remember this as well when they added nether. Good times. No crafting recipes were on the internet yet, so you crafted randomly and hoped you craft something new. Even used furnace minecart's in those versions to get my resources out of the mine quickly. Fun times.

    @silverdiamond2098 Před 2 lety +13

    There a so much more removed features to go through. I can name a lot of them but there are probably so much more that we might not even now about because of them never being shown to the public. Some removed features were just placeholders for later feature like the stats you mentioned that didn't make it into the game. Before furnaces were implemented and crafting was a work in progress, you could throw iron, gold ore sand and gravel into lava or fire to smelt them. Sand and gravel basically were the same block so both would turn into glass. Smelting always would drop more than one item for each smelted item, like maybe three to five ingots for one iron ore. And items couldn't burn. Coal ore dropped slabs in some indev and survival test versions when mined and logs like three to five planks. Pigs dropped mushrooms in survival test because it was the only food source and in some indev versions mobs dropped random items that weren't obtainable otherwise because of crafting not being a thing. You killed a pig? no, it wouldn't drop porkchop or mushrooms. You would get a high chance to get gunpowder and an even higher chance to get a flint and steel. Eventually there was a chance to get food, but idk mobs never dropped anything useful when I tried out these versions. When crafting was first implemented you didn't even need a workbench/crafting table and you could place every item in the armor slots. You could open the crafting menu by pressing b on the keyboard. Originally it was the place for the pick block menu in early classic creative mode and after crafting was successfully implemented you could use it to spawn signs. Yes. They were a WIP and you couldn't write on them or edit them until infdev I think. Instead they had text on them telling you what wat was planned for the functionality of signs. Signs actually had a hitbox you could stand on and they where quite big and like one and a half block tall. When spawners and dungeons were implemented in the official infdev releases spawners were accidentally given the same ID as signs which caused the game to render signs inside spawners when you placed one next to it and then updated a few versions. It looks really weird. Also in classic you could save a location by using the enter key and return to that location using R. Notch also Originally tried implementing dirt slabs in classic to make the terrain look smoother but it didn't really work that well with worldgen and ended up looking way worse than before. In infdev before leather was implemented you could craft leather armor using wool. Quivers also were a thing but they got removed again a few versions later because they were just too op and you could shoot infinite arrows without even having any arrows. Notch also planned seasons but never did because he either forgot about the idea or didn't know how to make them work with different biomes he also planned to add and actually did in late alpha. He also was tinkering with the idea of some kind of energy source or mechanics and added gears that did nothing besides spinning infinitely. When minecarts got added in infdev they where originally used as container to transport items. And of course the sky Dimension from late beta that got replaced by the end Dimension in one of the beta 1.9 pre releases. The idea was that the player had a random chance to spawn there after sleeping and then travel there on purpose afterwards. But Notch didn't really know how to implement that and there also was no way for the player to travel back, except maybe dying. And before players could set their spawn point with beds there was the idea of crying obsidian for the same functionality. Another Screenshot related feature in beta allowed it to take extremely high resolution images. It was just experimental, kind of like the f4 portal spawn feature in alpha and wasn't supposed to be released to the public but Notch forgot to remove the code again. And there was calm4.ogg for basically the same reason in a different alpha. He was probably messing around with sound because he wanted to either implement something specific related to sound or just added it for fun and then forgot to remove it. The original title of calm4.ogg is magnetic circuit and Notch wrote it entirely by himself. Back then the seemed to like electronic music a lot and the title is everything but calm XD. And there used to be an easter egg where Notch would drop apples upon death that could then be used to craft golden apples. This idea came from a player who made a website with a list of all available crafting recipes because there was no recipe book or any official guides to explain gameplay. And this was just on the website as a joke but Notch actually added it because he found it funny.

If you tried to cross it and keep going, the game would forcibly stop you from walking further, pushing you back slightly and also making the player slower and slower. Sadly I don't think there's a way to beat this force due to the slowdown, but it's still a cool fun fact

      It wasn't really a feature and it only really worked on laggy multiplayer servers. But yes, it was a funny. They made it back into the game in one of the April's fools versions. And another fun thing to know is that mojang originally used the cow AI as template and forgot to remove the milking functionality so you could milk squid and they could also breathe on land
