I would definitely buy a engine from the boat guy, seems like he really knows his stuff!
Yea. You could be confident you're getting a good engine!
I agree, love watching this guy, learning a lot and it is sooo relaxing.
Unless it’s the Yamaha from the Torcher test
You must have the best neighbors! Nice 2 strokes
Just thinking the same thing
Where do you find such clean 2 strokes?
@@trswanson9604 Best bet is to look for sellers near fresh water, not sea harbours.
I was thinking the same thing about the neighbors to hear that day and in day out
My dad was an outboard mechanic, worked out of the garage or did service calls right to peoples docks. At home he had two drums for running motors. One was a 20 or 30 gallon plastic drum with the top cut off. He had a big wheeled dolly and put a board across the bottom to rest the drum on, so you could move it out of the way without draining the drum. For larger outboards he had a plastic oil drum he cut in half. He swore by running them in barrels over muffs because you could gauge how well the water pump was working. With the muffs the water pressure is often enough to make water flow.
It's been 8 years since we lost him and I love hearing all these noises again. We constantly had outboards laying around and people dropping off or picking up their boats and motors. It was all completely word of mouth, he didn't even have business cards, yet we had hundreds if not thousands of repairs come through every summer. He was an absolute wizard with motors. This makes me want to fix old outboards for fun now.
It's hard to get motivated to change the oil in my truck, and this guy got 8 outboards running... FML...
Well, I've changed oil in ev'ry major brand of truck and car. Main thing is... You get some ramps. Do it in the morning. And, while it's draining, find summin else to do. I like working on my own stuff. Garages and shops are a rip off. And, they damage your vehicle by schemes and scams. I know I did it right, but you don't know if they did...
how do i get a hold of this boat guy?
i was like him when i was 18yrs old , getting old is a bitch. your probably alot older than him.
Nothing but profit right there bro . Respect !
@@stevekeeling8577 .. Someone said he had his contact info in the description. I don't know. I'd have to go check...
Not many honest mechanics like you around anymore. I don’t own a boat yet and I can’t wait till I do.
I’m from Melbourne Australia and I love watching and learning from your work. 👍🇦🇺🇺🇸
Please keep working on outboards. Prefer these videos than any other ones.
It would be awesome if you included the purchase and sale prices for the motors you fix. Very entertaining videos.
no kidding I wonder where he's buying from because I'm about to create 100HP using to 50HP motors after watching this.
That’s what I was thinking too. Lol
Can't I get a boat engine for my birthday July 8th
Can't I get the 15 Yamaha
If you are going to send a Yamaha 15 you are going to send it in Trinidad
I’m not a mechanic but I enjoy watching you working on motors, you make it look so easy.
Love these videos. I've learned a lot watching them and it's so satisfying to see these engines come to life with seemingly minimal effort.
Clearly you enjoy what you do. You mention work, don't think for you it's work. Your patience is telling. I don't own a boat or motor yet I enjoy watching your videos.
Love looking at you fiddling with the boat motors, being a mechanic and boat lover its very satisfying to watch.
I learned a lot with helping my Dad as a kid work on stuff like this. Pretty much everything on my outboard has been tinkered by myself and it feels great! Enjoy these and mostly the boat renovations
Sees a dirty corroded screw sticking out of the ground, wait a second that’s a perfect Yamaha 25. Just gotta dig it up and turn the majigger it’ll be just like new.
lol
Great work and greatings from Norway. Love the way you rebuild and restore the outboards with many reliable years of services left in them.
And you are doing more for the environment than the self entitled envirolists ever would manage to do.
Hey man I just want to say I love your content! I just moved to northern FLA and I have been watching your channel since you redid that $250 bass boat. I actually picked up an 87' bass champ to see if i could do what you did. I have some more floor work to do to in and find a motor, but after that I'm hitting the water!
Love these vlogs, maybe do a in-depth rebuild on the power head that locked up.
Keep up the good work and stay blessed brother 🤙🏾🤙🏾
Wow . You know your stuff ! You seem so comfortable/ confident. Always nice to see someone who loves what they do. I can tell you do by the knowledge you have. Good stuff man.
You have to be one of the best one handed mechanics out there! 😂
Love the vids, and I really look forward to seeing some more of your boat restoration projects.
I always learn something new when I watch you pull these engines apart. Keep the videos coming.
You are a great teacher. Really enjoy your videos. It looks like you have fun putting all these boats on the water. I would love it.
I could watch you repairing outboards all day!!? You've got a bloody gift mate! 😃🤙
the older ones run great. I'm loading up on fun projects this winter to sell in the spring summer. I plan to restore em well and provide people a solid motor. appreciate the videos
The best outboard motor how to videos out there. Always well made and full of how to information.
I learn best by watching, Listening and then doing. What a great Channel you run. Thank you. Truly.
Best video I’ve seen you do so far! Really like the outboard stuff. If you would do more slowed down how too videos on all this stuff this channel would be fire!
I love how informative these videos are and how they address so many different problems it’s very helpful
nice motors eric! I have a nice nissan mid 90's 5 hp. 2 stroke short shaft im going to be putting a new waterpump in so i can use it as a kicker this summer on Lake Michigan. My older brother gave me a Evinrude 40hp. VRO 2 stroke. And i took off the lower unit today. Much different than my 1995 Johnson 30hp 2 stroke where the shift shaft disconnects. I had to take off the starter motor to access the bolt underneath the engine block as opposed to the Johnson that you disconnect when you take off the screens on the lower unit.
Me when my outboard locks up: "ah damn, now i gotta go find a new outboard on Craigslist or something"
This guy: "I have a replacement powerhead, so it doesn't matter"
Still really dig you channel. Several tips over the years to help me keep my 2s 2008 25 yamaha running strong. Thanks... P.S. hate the new idle mix screws, ordered the old style.
Yes, I'm amazed. Pretty nice loose change pickup ya got going on there!
Keep up the great video-ing.
Great info. Motor work today was very informative. Good job with the dialog too.
I'm planning on rebuilding a flats boat and when I need an engine I'll go to you since you're so local.
What state are you guys in? I'm new here, just trying to learn how to fix up my motor. It's full of mud daubers and stinkbugs!
@@amadosanchez7483 they are in the Tampa/st pete area of FL
You are not only good... you are thorough... hard to find these days.
You should star your own outboard motor business and for what i see you are a honest person and need people like you
Fantastic video. you certainly know your way around an outboard motor. love watching your channel. Steve from England.
Love these kind of videos give me motivated to work on my own boat
Yea for real
But I'm going to try do you have any contact info I would like to get one of the motors where you have the for sale
I always learn a lot from your videos, thanks for that and keep-em coming.
My dad would know all about them because he works for a Mercury boat shop and all other engines Mercury is a very good engine type and my dada know a lot about Mercury he as a 32 foot boat there is two engines the both have a 450 engine outboards. Love your videos ♥️
Love the engine repair videos. I love seeing your stuff on the local florida facebook marketplace too
Where Can People Buy Your Motors. You Are The Best That Ever Did It !!!
love seeing you fix motors, especially the smaller hp ones.
Have same model 15 hp. Just had it repaired, can't wait to try it out
The mercury 15 gets me through the rivers. Beautiful motor. Thank you making these videos. It's helpful.
Love your channel. Youmake working on these engines seem so easy.
This video is why I subscribed, great video to learn how to fix and service outboards
Hats off friend for what you did there and thank you again my friend for showing us all this stuff
, stay safe and next video, Moh from Algiers.
Lovely content on your channel! Grettings from Sweden🙏
Thanks again for taking the time to educate us!
That was interesting. I found the design of all of them very similar. I had 30hp Yamaha that had 3 cylinders and 3 carbs I thought it was unusual to have and extra carb and cylinder for the extra 5 HP but it did have a lot of power for a little motor.
Awesome!! I’d love to see more of these!! Maybe some big motors too!!
Like how you demystify these motors, I'm in Detroit area and am mechanically inclined, but, not so much with marine stuff.
Man I love it! I rebuilt a couple old outboards and really enjoyed learning and tinkering. Where do you typically find your motors to work on?
Great vid keep it coming love those yams you make it look easy. Can you do a vid of a pig engine one where lots of bolts may snap and how you deal with the problem. All your engines seem to be well purchased through skill but is not real life for us guys who don’t know better thanks 👍👍👍👍👍
This guy is great.... I could watch him fix these things all day
Man I’d love to spend a week learning with you! Freaking hands of a surgeon!
Just bought a project boat will need this channel 😄
Dude, you are the boat and motor whisperer
Great video.
These are my favorites.
Thanks for posting.
Great video learned a lot about how to repair small outboard motors.
It shows you guy’s you can do a lot of maintenance on your outboard engine with out pay to some one
Thanks for showing us 👍
Super entertaining stuff man really enjoyed it!
Great motors I had a 15 Mercury just like that I had sold it for six hundred bucks that motor ran on my boat for years. Love your videos I live in Orlando FL and work on older outboard motors too ..! Love your videos keep up the great work .👍
Scott Johnson.... $600? Someone got a steal of a deal
Ya it was a sail boat motor it had a 25 inch shaft on it great motor I needed the money and went to a good home 👍👌
Oh boy! I wish I was as knowledgeable with engines as you!
Great video, keep up the good work!!
I used to have a 1980 Evinrude 7.5, that motor ran like a dream
Love the go pro mercury! Beautiful machine
Thank You! Had a great time watching this video. Personally, I like your videos best when you work on a bunch of motors at a time. Do you also work on larger horsepower motors? Probably not the same time-to-profit ratio, but interesting none the less. Peace.
Love your work Eric !
Good stuff Eric what ever vids you make will be good boats or motors so long as they are more than 20 min long im happy 🇦🇺
Please keep doing outboard repairs ! A good welder can fix that busted cavitation plate. What do you use to clean "under the hood" ?
On the Yamaha 25s, what is the cable from under the recoil start go to on the engine ?
Is it worth rebuilding that power head that was locked up ?
Good job. Nice to see the younger generation being mechanically inclined. Keep these videos going.
I have an old (1985) Yamaha 40 2 stroke I’m ready to get rid of. All 3 carbs have been cleaned and installed correctly and it has a new water pump assembly and impeller. It starts up and shifts great but has a horrible squeak. Could be a Bering. I’m in Melbourne and if you want to take a crack at it you can. If not I’ll trade you for something running and I’ll throw some money in the mix to. Or advise, whichever’s works.
Thank you. I’m learning a lot!
Nice work love your truck
I really enjoy your videos I would like to see you here I need to loud replace cylinder i’m trying to learn a little thank you so much for sharing you help a bunch Us out thank you for sharing
These videos are great. Keep it up!
Fresh water is worth fixing
Get an old 275 gallon oil tank use saw z all cut top to make a test tank to run motors at full power.
I had one could run 235 hp full speed it had grids in water to keep water down.
Test tank on wheels to roll around.
Nice work Thanks.
Great vid man! Love to see more!
I enjoy watching your videos. I just wish I was as talented as you are. I'd love to do some work like you do since I'm retired.
the first one was a mercury us model we like them in australia because you can’t tell between the 6 hp ones and 15 and the police can’t fine us for not having a license
License to use a 15 hp motor? Need more info on that law
Nice fixes, keep up the good work👌👍
Great videos as always.I do have a question on the 25hp Johnson.I have an older version that has the side shifter and was thinking about changing it to a front shift, but am not sure how it hooks up to the shifting assy.I know I need the piece that mounts to the tiller steering and the rod and have to move my primer to another spot since I need that hole.Could you go over this and how it may be done since you have one already?
I surprised how interesting this is brother love the channel stay safe
Eric - great videos - keep them coming. . . . .!
Thanks. Great vid and lots of good info
Love the outboard videos, very interesting.
I had no idea Zach Braff was even interested in boat engines! Great job man!
Thing about a outboard is they all seem to run good out of the water. As soon as you put them in the water (apply back pressure) they run alot different plus those 2 stroke mercs can have bad exhaust cover leaks that leak into the cylinders. Been working on Merc outboards for years as a certified tech and I can say they are awsome engines.
Awesome. Good inspiration to keep older motors in use. Any thoughts on 1990 Mercury Black Max 135hp? I find mine is leaking fuel at the carbs and often needs playing with throttle at startup in order to get going. Are these motors worth maintaining ? A mechanic told me you can never get them running perfectly and lots of the local mechanics do not want to touch anything older than year 2000
I would love to live in Florida for a few months so I could catch some of these deals. Boats and outboard motors of any size are like GOLD in my state!
I first started watching your videos to learn how to clean the carburetor on my outboard, but now I watch them for entertainment lol
I love those old Mercury motors they are epic the 25 in this vid I absolutely loves that engine
Huh
Just saw ya on 19 I like the new little project ya got looks sweet
Great work and content. Subscribed. Liked.
Commented.
I have a 1968 Johnson 9.9 that has been in the family since new never had any major problems with it the carb has never been removed and the engine has never been rebuilt . Can't kill it we got our money's worth out of it for sure
You getting that old 25 merc running brought back memories. Dad used to have one a little older. Worked on it for years.
great motors lots of torque. i have a 1982 18hp that runs so sweet. getting hard to find now!
A Shore yep. I have a 78 9.8 and parts are getting harder to find for it as well. My friend has the 18 also.
Love the working on outboard videos
I see that most the work here is on the carburetors. I use to sell Chinese motorcycles I would import & this is giving me flashbacks of the myriad of carb issues I had. I use to love them, now I cant stand carburetors, I will take fuel injection any time. I have no idea why I'm watching boat engine vidoes lol, I doubt I'll be buying a boat anytime soon lol.
Buen trabajo amigo los motores Johnson y evinrude dos tiempos es lo mejor que hay su sonido lo duros que son y su poco mantenimiento debería de seguir fabricándose son muy buenos de lo mejor que hay 👍👌 saludos desde España
Yessss a new upload from my favourite channel nice video eric
