Absolutely! Great engine, stay tuned for the next phase!
BMW raced that engine, bone stock, since....damn the late 70s. It slowly started seeing more performance improvements over time, if i am not mistaken the final "racing" version was a bone stock bottom end, "big cam", springs and valves (untouched head in terms of porting) and re-tuned ECU reaching roughly 245hp @7,200-ish rpm.
Great to see an m20 getting some much needed reviving great video enjoyed this one

Kool itb are so good but i love itbs on carbs the most, twin webers with itbs, yes there old and need manual tuning but so sooo nice

I have been wondering about the sequential gearbox on an M20 and here it is!
Now the question, can it be used with the AWD version of the e30? If so a sequential, turbo AWD m20 most certainly is the best of the best.

Only came across the video now cool build awesome actually , mind Blowing that you'll still invest so much in a classic hence the saying (respect your elders ) still puzzled though why you stuck to a 2.0 liter is it a series or class rule ?
You'll have to wait and see - plenty more power to come from this M20!
i'd really want to try out the throttle response on that motor. I've never driven an e-throttle with the instinctive response of a cable - no S54, no F131 V8, no Lotus 2ZZ has felt entirely natural, like an extension of my right foot, like a cable throttle does.
You can programme the fly by wire to mimic the behaviour of a cable driven system quite easily, but the benefits of fly by wire are that response is instantaneous and it wouldn't really make sense to take any of that away, unless for nostalgic reasons
would love to have the AT ITBs on my e30.

Cool who sells the gear box? I have a built 3.0 M20 and Ramas 42 ITBS for my 1978 323i and I shaved the bay....ITBS are awesome on the M20!!!

the m20b25 in a lightweight station wagon was a very cool car for daily drive.
Now they are way ti expensive

At the moment it's around stock HP, but we are stroking the engine soon for over 200HP!

Power steering fluid overheated causing fuel pump relay issue?

It got hot, came out the top
I would have ripped power steering right out as a whole. Especially if it’s a dedicated track car
Fair enough, the power steering now doesn't cause any issues. Professional race cars usually have power steering ;)
@@RegalAutosport did you guys go to an in-line cooler? I don’t blame you for wanting one. Besides your track car is a bit nicer than most peoples street cars.. I went to an e46 club sport (purple tag rack) with the conversion kit from chase bays. Comes with its own cooler and I haven’t had an issue on any spirited drives.
We’ve just got a breather/overflow setup for it and it can do a whole track day with no issue

How much power did it make before and after?
Not sure, as we didn't measure it before. This is the first iteration of the build and the output was not of interest, this is mainly a proof of concept to get the gearbox working etc.
We will not be building the engine, hopefully for well over 200HP!

what's the risk of having no filters in front of the ITB?
The air filters filter the air, so without filters the air will go in unfiltered. The risk depends on the operating conditions, generally its best to run with them but some owners remove them for style.

cool vid. But the background music was really distracting. When the guy was talking at the beginning I would have chosen some different music. Or none at all. In my opinion it just didnt mesh well.

When u dump 10k to drive 2 laps...
Pretty sure the tranny is 15k or so, the clutch likely almost 2k. They've got a lot of money into that car
