I've been having the same conversation with my best friend about how great Steve is. For a while I was crazy about Paul but I finally realized that Steve was better than anybody. I don't know how he got all that soulful volume out & stayed on key but it was some spectacular singing. Great guitarist and very unique harmonica player. He was truly appreciated in Great Britain 🇬🇧 but not quite as much in the US 🇺🇸. 👍☮️🌞🎸🎤🌟💕

Im not American btw, i live in the far north of England near the Scottish Borders but in 1970, 72, 73 lived in London where there were some amazing bands out then & slowly turned my musical taste to Led Zepp, P Floyd, Ten Years After, Sabbath & D Purple but my favourite being Free with Paul Rodgers & Kossoff. I was there. Sitting on the fence right in front of the stage. This was in Belgium; Jazz Bilzen 1969. Right before this performance Peter Frampton was sitting on that same fence as well, I sat next to him. 💜 He wore purple velvet pants.
Steve Marriot was so great you can't but feel a little sorry for any musician or performer who appeared on the same stage as him however talented they were. Absolutely no one did it like Steve, and the really sad thing is, no one ever will.

If I remember correctly, it was the Second Coming to a Warehouse that Steve played with this song, it was in this set they played this Holy Song, knocked the shit out of the Crowd, wasn't expecting to hear that from Humble Pie, jűs sāyīn !😎✌😎!

Stevie M was bigger than both Paul Rodgers and Rod Stewart in the sixties. The last two named mentioned did not rise into the public psyche until the 70's. Whether it was Stevie himself that couldn't sustain the momentum to super stardom or whether it was that his talent was just taken for granted by the public and music press.This I couldn't say, I like to think it was the latter case. Growing up as a mod, Stevie will always be special to me.

I saw them at the Marquee in London in 1970, the raw power and musicianship of that band was incredible, they seriously delivered. I was there with two famous jazz musicians who didn't care about rock, but they were blown away after that concert. Next day they bought some LPs of the Pie ...

I was 14 at the time and travelled 250 miles with a friend to attend. GFR had a reputation at the time for being the loudest rock and roll band in the world. The way I saw it, most of the crowd seemed to be really nice hippies - all good! The whole day was fantastic and finished with my favourite band blasting out numbers I knew backwards. I was in a sort of heaven. An epic day. Sometimes, I think bands have their place in time. For instance, I love Eminem's early stuff but I don't think I'd go see him perform nowadays. Same with GFR. That was then and this is now. Anyway, if you are determined, I'm sure you'll find a way. Good luck and thanks for your comment.

Seen humble pie a couple times, the last time was st a festival at the Poconos in 72 ,about 200,000 people great show great party. It was called concert 10, one of the best and last music festivals cept the next year walkinsgleen with the almond Brothers which I stupidly missed,ahhh. Had to come back cause I didn't realize this was posted 13yrs ago, dam ytube got anything recent to recommend

I was in Hyde Park too, they stole the show from GFR. Later that same day I went to the Polytechnic in London to see Traffic, where they recorded part of Welcome to the Canteen in front of no more than 100 people, all sitting on the floor. Those were the days....

According to Ronnie Wood in his autobiography "Ronnie", Marriott was Richards' first choice to replace Mick Taylor in '75. But Jagger didn't want anything to do with Marriott. Can't blame him, really. Marriott's natural talent was scary to many of his contemporaries. And Jagger wasn't going to let anyone steal his thunder.

All this is important because both bands are being inducted into the RRHoF next month and it is crucial that the two bands are dealt with separately as separate entities. Marriott's band is the most deserving and the longest overdue for the recognition

marriot is class. most underestimated guy in the whole world of rockbands. i still think to this day he had more innovation than rodgers. but i think humble pie would have been the bigger band if they had got the break with a so called alright now number. both singers are brilliant. not heard of any new ones coming up at the minute. lemmy ,maybe..

Found the Fillmore livein the 80's by accident. Did not know much of the band. One of the best live albums ever.
Same for Fillmore East Live Allman Brothers it's what made them famous exposing their great talent

marriot is class. most underestimated guy in the whole world of rockbands. i still think to this day he had more innovation than rodgers. but i think humble pie would have been the bigger band if they had got the break with a so called alright now number. both singers are brilliant. not heard of any new ones coming up at the minute. lemmy ,maybe..
