- Humble Pie live at the LA Forum May 1973.
A new transcode from "The Life And Times of Steve Marriott" doc. Better quality than the other one up. Dunno what's up with the first few seconds being out of sync, most likely the source they used, or an effect. - Hudba
Im 68 and there is nothing like this today.
Try the Muse
I have a musical triangle/1 Deep Purple
2 Black Sabbath
3 Led Zeppelin
I´m 65 old rocker and Humble Pie is one of the most important and uderrated band in Hard Rock History.
AGREE, RAFAEL!!!M.O'B
I'm 62 and agree
Who underrated them? 🙄
Truth
and STILL not in that BS Hall of Fame.
I'm an old man, and so glad that I grew up listening to great bands like this.
Preach fellow boomer
I really miss this music.
You and me both brother
Right, it was the older ones that introduced me to it, when I was listening to Tommy Roe, and sht like that.
so true ... same here... 50 years later, still get the same adrenaline rush as listening to it in 1973
I always have felt bad for Steve Marriott, a great entertainer, who never got what he Deserved!!
No fake playing and no cell phones in everyone's way. I miss the old days concerts.
Yes ✌🏽
And that boys and girls is how you become a rock legend
Anyone in the 70's who wanted to know what "hard rock" was - this was the answer!
I love Steve Marriott. RIP.
I am 70 yrs young and Humble Pie's Live at the Fillmore just blew me away, time after time. Great band then and still waybadass!
That's the Album I've Got " We go home on Man-day but we nawf wanna tell ya we've had a Gas this time it's really been a Gas😂😂😂 I had to go back sit in the Dark and just listen to that Album again felt like I was there what a Jam Session
Steve Marriot was a great showman!🙏👍🇺🇸
🎉
I saw 'em at the Long Beach Arena in the early 70's. Likely one of the best concerts I've ever seen.
Damn right ✌
In 1971 I saw Humble Pie play this in Nuremberg Germany. It was the hippie G.I. days of the Vietnam War and our Barracks was just a few blocks away from the concert hall. We went to see Ten Years After with Alvin Lee and Humble Pie was the opening act. Awesome evening
Stevie one of the greatest of all time. A soulful rocking incendiary talent. Sadly missed
I saw Humble Pie along with Robin Trower in Houston in 1975. Trower opened the show with their moody surreal music from their album 'Bridge of Sighs' with James Dewar's incredible vocals, and then Stevie Marriott and the Pie hit the stage and the energy goes through the roof, they rocked nonstop. Those were the days.
Wow what a line up!
I saw Procol Harum with Trower at the Fillmore East. Great show. Trower is a great guitarist.
Wow Robin Trower and Humble Pie ‼️👍 I seen Robin Trower in early 80s, definitely 👍‼️
And there it is. No frills, no gimmicks, none of the crap that the "music" industry subjects us to now, just straight forward, well done, driving rock and roll. I like it.
And they had talent and creativity back then!
TRUTH EXACTLY !!!
Straight up fantastic, rock and roll. We had the best music.
Awesome
I love it!!! Pure hard driving rock n roll!
The voice, the performance, the raw power of it all, this is THE epitome of rock! And with all his excesses and over the top behavior, the women loved him. The one, the only Steve Marriott. Gone too soon. RIP
I fully agree with you , Beth.
@@henkvinke1076 Thank you for your reply! There seems to be more admirers of Steve than I could have imagined, even 30 years after his tragic death!
Beth, you are exactly right! I loved Steve, he was so real and driven. Gone way too soon.
Yeah. Nothing beats hard hitting rock from the '70s.
Well put! To me, Steve Marriott is one of the best of all time. I’m too young to have seen Humble Pie live, but from the second I first heard Rockin’ the Fillmore, I’ve been hooked on his guitar & voice. Simply amazing!
I saw them in 73. Clem was a guitar player! Steve Marriott had the crowd going.
Steve Marriott war ein Genie! Weit seiner Zeit voraus! Ein Punk als es den noch nicht gab!
Well I’m 72 and remember this song and Humble Pie fondly and only wish that “ I don’t need no doctor” now…hahaha old but what awesome memories of our youth, songs and the changing times!
😊hi
Marriott the best rock voice ever.
THAT VOICE! HES ENERGY ! ❤!.
Steve Marriott. THE one and only! And shout out to the perfect Rock drummer Jerry Shirley. Great fills!
I am a venezuelan punk girl, and I have LP music this band, I love humble pie, forever 🇻🇪🇻🇪🇻🇪🇻🇪🇻🇪
Great band. I'm 66 in 2023
I remember on our senior spring break of 80 in Daytona, the five of us in our ocean room at the Desert Inn pitched in on an inverter and some speakers, yanked my buddy's killer Alpine stereo out of his Torino and set it up in the room to play our own cassettes and avoid all the disco bullshit on radio. LOTS of Pie. This, Stone Cold Fever (Rockin' the Fillmore), Hot n Nasty, 30 Days...rockin', bein bad and chasin tail! Good times and memories!
I’m 64, this was my first concert in Houston
Steve Marriott!! What more do you have to day? Every great party I ever attended back in the 70s always had some Humble Pie blasting. I get goosebumps just remembering it. We never knew how good we had it.
We kinda did...until local PD ruined it (or tried to😉)
Hell yeah ❤
Oh God...I literally love humble pie
I am 70 years old and 50 years ago I first heard Steve Marriott with the Small Faces, the song was Tin Soldier ... my head exploded, and this crazy love for rock and Steve Marriott continues to this day. Rock bless you Steve and I hope to find you on the other side, you will surely be on top of a stage. Health
That double album from Fillmore is a favorite of all time. Steve Marriot = Legend!
Same here..was the first time I heard them
I just watched guilded splinters on youtube, a studio version. Fantastic. I never realized that Steve Marriot was such a good guitar player. Frampton looks like he's a teenager.
I'm 66 yo and this one is under the Top Ten on the soundtrack of my life ...Mr. Steve and the Band, outstandig and straight on. Best line up on this one.
This is one of the absolute best live performances ever!
MUST SEE VIDEO!!!M.O'B
@@user-lr8qr1or8d Absolutely!
Ah yes, I remember. Steve Marriott was pure energy. Went with my best friend to see this show at the Forum in Inglewood. Both Foghat and Humble Pie cooked that night. I miss Steve Marriott, and my best friend. Two souls that left too early.
I saw Humble Pie way back when. Fantastic! Steve had an injured leg, so he did the entire concert sitting on a bar stool. Leg was in a cast. He rocked!!!!!!
Every single member putting it all out there! Steve Marriott is a magical freak of nature!
No gimmicks. No lasers. No 100 foot stage. Just good rock n roll from one of the greatest rock bands ever. Kids today missed out on the excitement of a live show when rock was king and this talent was plentiful. We didn’t watch mtv or youtube to see bands every day so when you went to a concert and actually got to see these guys in person.... it was unique - and it was exciting!
Saw these guys in Bristol in 72 or thereabouts. Awesome energy. My ears were ringing for days. Always the sign of a rockin gig. They were supported by Peter Frampton's Camel. What a night👌
Steve Marriott en Humble Pie super estrella ❤ súper musico gran guitarrista puro total y auténtico Rock and Roll ❤
New bands need to be checking this out, because THIS IS HOW IT IS DONE.
ya dawnt lern diss....ya FEEL it....iss tween yoo n gawd
HELL YEAH!!!!! M.O'B
Humble Pie was the first concert I ever went to. I saw them at the Orlando Sports Stadium in 1972. J Giels was the opening act. Joints were being passed around the crowd, so much so that a haze of smoke hung over the entire stadium.
THIS is what Rock and Roll was all about!!!
Damn! What a voice! Little white English guy with that soulful sound. Greg Ridley & Jerry Shirley, rhythm section, Dave Clemson, who replaced Peter Frampton, on guitar. Early '70s was a great time for music.
One of Keith Richards favorite bands
I became a lifelong Humble Pie fan in 1972 after hearing this song on Live at the Fillmore and a year later saw them for the first time during this tour. 47 years and hundreds of bands and shows later, I can say without any reservation that I have never seen a band perform with more power, energy and emotion then Humble Pie at the top of their game. Anyone who saw them during the short five years they were together should consider themselves fortunate.
I saw them in Louisville ky in 1972. They followed Edgar winter. Man was that a show that a person will never forget. Lots of concerts but that probably was the best.
Was a fan in their day, but never had the opportunity to see them live. I am so envious of you who did. I also wish there were at least more concert videos.
@@cindyfalstrom7231 , sorry to say, but you really missed an absolutely amazing show. So much energy, talent, and all the times I saw them they seemed to be having such a good time. And to this day that's what I remember. And I've been to a few concerts.
@@jasomkovac9115 Please don't rub salt in my wounds! I saw many concerts in the early 70's, including Led Zepplin in Tampa Stadium. I know Humble Pie played in Tampa, don't know why I missed them - probably didn't have a date - LOL. I would go alone now if only I could....
@@cindyfalstrom7231 Humble Pie was one I wished I could have seen, as well as AC/DC with Bon Scott in front. 2 of my favorite singers of all time.
Holy shit!! Steve Marriot!!!! Humble Pie were the definition of badass rock a roll!!! Loud, nasty, raw and IN YO FACE!!!!
U got it.
Oh shit!
@Robert Boyle absolutely agree! His voice and charisma on stage and pure energy are unmatched. He is mesmerizing.
No shit Sherlock!
Young Peter Frampton rocking the 2nd guitar and backing vocals...
When Steve wanted too he could blow any band off the Stage! Rockin the Fillmore still one of the greatest live albums ever recorded.
Absolutely
OMG YES
He blew mick jagger off the stage and he wouldn’t let him in the band
He had some darn good players up there with him helping him blow the roof off
Best part of music in those days early 70’s is I was out of that shit hole in Nam’ and could just chill.
the best four minutes and thirty-one seconds of pure, unadultered rock `n`roll on youtube. period.
My first "Pie" experience was Rockin'the Fillmore. I had the A&M eight-track, wore it out, memorized every note. Then Smokin'. I had to be TOLD that he was lead-vocalist on Itchykoo Park. "You see, my skin is white but my Soul is black." Miss you, Mr Marriott.😪
Steve Marriott was one of a kind, awesome!
Who would have guessed back in the 70's that this was as good as rock n roll was ever gonna get
THE DEFINITIVE Humble Pie live in their prime video
Such a genius. How relevant is the title of this song to this very day!
One of the most underrated bands, fell in love with Humble Pie in the early 70’s after seeing them in 🎶 concert
Same here!!! Steve Marriot was a great singer and guitarist-- And Peter Frampton is always great live!!! Saw him recently live----
They were big back in the day
I bet needed a week to recover from that one.
Karen describing Grand Funk Railroad: "One of the greatest underrated groups ever..." So every group you like is "underrated," Karen?
I followed this guy when he's with small faces. he was born to be a rocker. Rest in peace my brother
I had a humble pie album...& Loved it ‼️🇦🇺👍
I wore my 8 track out. Humble pie and black coffee. Off to School. hehe. I did have a 33&1/3 too. Rest in peace Humble Pie to bad rock and roll hall of fame does not know you. Thank God I do. Out.
It's Steve's birthday today....such a great musician! R.I.P!
No one in rock and roll sounded anything like Steve Marriott. I always called him the rock n roll evangelist. I loved his style
I guess i was pretty lucky as a teenager from 69 until 74 when i went into the Air Force, primarily so i could go to England. My dad was Chief Systems Anylist of the Air Force and i got to accompany him on many trips overseas. Left me to my own devices while in England, Germany, and a few other countries. I went to alot of shows and seen the best bands on the planet and though i ended up in Korea i got to travel alot and continued going to some of the best live concerts you can imagine
The power of his voice nearly blew my phone out of my hand. It was vibrating with his voice's resonance. What a singer...what a voice
I saw Humble Pie at Southend in the UK and was near the front. I could hear Steve's voice acoustically above the PA not far away on the left. He had such a powerful voice.
I understand Robert Plant loved Steve's singing.
@@jimlassen9422 thank you. I wish I could have seen him live. You were lucky. Tasmania is so far from the centre of what was the rock centre. I’m loving the internet because I can watch what I couldn’t then. I think I’m overdosing now. Rock on 🇦🇺🎸⚡️🤘🏼🤘🏿💋💜💜💜
Rock n FUCKN Roll.
Plain and simple. No bullshit here.
can we get this guy in the hall of fame.? WTF
He is-as a member of the Small Faces
Fantastic stuff 😎 I saw Humble Pie with The Who at Charlton in 1974. This track was always a favourorite
saw them 3/15/73 a month before this. i was 14. we were in awe of what was happening before our eyes. i saw muddy waters around the same time. blues music became my life and livelihood. marriott had the most soul of any rocker i ever saw. the dynamics, the feeling, jerry shirley's swingin' groove, it was really the last breath of rock music for me... i will never forget.. inspiring....
Wow, that was the page-turner, eh? Far out!
I saw them in corpus Christi Texas in 72
Steve Marriot was one of our best. Unpretentious rock in your face and they hadn't got around to calling it heavy rock yet.
Steve wud have been 73 years old today bet hes still singing NO DOCTOR where ever he is. Best performer EVER.
Got a love this. Back when concerts were really live and not prerecorded.
Just happened upon this video. Man alive what performers and what a performance! Steve and the lads definitely passed the audition...
Steve is so amazing live havin fun ripping it up every moment of the show F-ing Amazing!!!!
RIP Greg Ridley! One of the best in the biz and of EVER!
Hello Detroit here!! Bob Seger. At Pine Knob. I think I was 12. That was 48 years ago. Music is medicine. Share it.
I´M 74 years now, and its time to thank my Mother ( RIP) to give me time, to play this music that every one had to like it, because it was everday shaking our house, Thank you Mom you did a great job
...Blessings to your dear Mother...Pax.
Steve Marriott no matter how good he was in Humble Pie he's still a million times more famous for being in the Small Faces
Steve Mariott. What a voice. What a performer.
Good God they blew up & set fire to every venue they ever played!! Steve Marriott gave 250% every concert! Still gives me chills! RIP Steve
One I didn't see love Steve ,roadrunner is one of my favs
He always does! Nothing nefarious about him! He was passionate about his singing a natural!
Speed and black coffee...explosive combo💥
im 64 this album rocking the Fillmore brilliant good band 😀😀😀
Humble Pie have got to be the pinnacle of hard rock in the 70s. God they're good.
Apparently you missed the band called Led Zepplin?
@@carolkaufmann5075 - oh go away with them.
Queen, Aerosmith, Thin Lizzy, Status Quo...
CRIMINALLY underrated band.....even then.
@@carolkaufmann5075 Apparently you never saw zep back then. Drunk and sloppy, poor live band. Good studio albums though.
So much talent coming out of the U.K during that period. Just scary!!
How is Steve Marriott not remembered as the greatest rock and roll singer ever. Amazing.
Oh, he is by the true cones-suers of rock
Because hes all over the place. Probably largely improvising
I'm sure he's being reevaluated. CZcams helps
In my eyes he is, no one better. Steve Marriott is my music every day.
Are you aware that Rolling Stone does not even mention him in their list of 100 greatest singers?!? UNBELIEVABLE!
One word...legendary! So raw and pure, just insane...Beth did great cover, but this version is indredible. Almost 50 years...my goodness
Steve was one of a few that could never be replaced. Part of rock history right there. No crazy stage antics just raw, unabashed high energy and
emotion. Glad we have this footage to show the younger rockers how it was done in the heyday of rock
MAN! We had it ALL in the '70s!!!
we sure did Lawrence
Yep. I was in Detroit then. All the great bands made stops. A great time rock.
I was in Detroit as well. So many great hometown talents and all the best groups visited then . I am so grateful that I was alive during the 60's and 70's.
Early '70s sure. Can't say much good about past '73 except for existing hard rock bands, punk, & new wave (some/most).
@@gailgruenburg6477 MC-5!!!
My parents were getting a new roof . The roofer was listening to humble pie live from The Fillmore. I was hooked on this song and became a fan ! I played the shit out of this double album and even had it on 8 track .😁 Did I give away my age ? Hahaha
As a 15 year old boy in 73 saw them live unbelievable singer frontman great band he was a whirlwind thanks Steve where ever you are peace brother🙏❤️
Steve was the best white soul singer, ever. Gave it his all. Love it!
A soulful singer, yes...comes from inside, can't be faked
Humble Pie Rockin the Fillmore is one of the best live albums ever made in my opinion.
Just a fantastic band that will always be one of the best.
Agreed. I can't think of a better live album.
Hard to believe someone followed that performance. They were 2nd on a 3 band show.
@@lawrencesprau1935 Deep Purple?

Steve Marriott fuckin ROCKED!!!!!!!!R.I.P!!!! YOU ARE MISSED......
One of the great ones, he had it, you either do or your like one of the millions of musicians that just dont. Rip
Steve was INTENSE!!!!! The epitome of a rock n roller. I miss him and the Pie! So far ahead of their time! 👍👍👍🎸🥁🎼❤️
Eric Burdon refers to Steve Marriott in "Spill The Wine" with the lyric about the "Long haired leaping gnome". That was Steve. A 5'5" leaping gnome full of energy. A giant stage presence always. What a tragic loss to Rock and Roll.
Are you sure Burdon wasn't refering to himself?
@dee cee, I like that, thank you, appreciate little nuances that adds to the thrill, thumbs up commentary it deserves no. one spot!
dee cee, ever notice he always had high heeled boots on stage.
@@alanlane3670 Yeah, I was gonna say....
Was Steve really 5'4" or 5'5". Idk. Somehow reading all the references about how small he was and his size 5 boots, I wonder if he was closer to the 5 ft. But no matter, he was a giant of a wailing talent!
this is a knockout.... raw and powerful and sadly underestimated....
In the immortal words of Steve Marriott “It’s been a real gas this time -a real gas!”
Steve Marriott had more blues in his pinky finger than many "blues" guys have in their entire body. And one of the best frontmen every to grace a stage. Another great one taken too soon.
What can I say, I can't take my eyes (and ears !) off Steve. He was to me one of the best period. Pure rock and roll genus!
2023.....Still VERY Badass!
First time I saw them was at Shea Stadium in 1971 when they opened for Grand Funk.. Then at The Fillmore.. God, they were good. The energy of Marriott was intense. A young (very young) Frampton on guitar..Thanks Pie for some great memories!!
This is Clem Compson.
@gamoonbat he knows that. He's saying that in 1971 Frampton was in the band when he saw them.
BTW genius...it's Clem "CLEMPSON"@@gamoonbat
I read a little while ago that Mark Farner from grand funk was so impressed with frampton that he tried to recruit him. Frampton wanted out of humble pie cause marriott was the one in the limelight not him so he quit. He started another band that I had never heard of before goin solo. The rest is history
RIP. Folks that intense rarely live to be old.
Some of the ones that don't die turn kind of crazy. Some just get clever after escaping death a few times. But, you're onto something. So many real powerful ones go - even if they never made it to fame and fortune. I've got lots of dead friends from the NYC music scene and other parts of life. Quite a few live wires who didn't go the distance or adjust to something else.
I was just going to post the exact same thing before I read yours.
They say there is a fine line between madness and genius. Steve struggled with his demons, but what a magnificent talent he was. RIP Steve & Greg...
Steve had a one of kind voice and a tremendous stage energy. Glad we can look into the past and see such incredible performances. A time when rock & roll was on fire. Best of times.
I was at this concert, was awesome, plus was very high.
Get down to it, favorite song of all. Told my husband, play it at my funeral
No stage tricks. Just the heart of rock and roll. Thank you.
That's all they needed, no added horse shit and onion gravy.
I forgot how great this band was. One of my first hard rock albums.
ROCK ON DEB!!! M.O'B
Every generation has their wild child.
This kid takes the cake, in my book.
Now that is rock and roll.
