  • Embark with us on an incredible three-week journey through the Algarve, Portugal, during the off-season from October to November. We delved into the local culture, savored the regional cuisine, and marveled at the stunning landscapes.
Hi! We’re Nate and Migz and this Algarve travel guide offers a front-row seat to our adventures in the vibrant cities of Albufeira, Faro, and the charming town of Tavira. We reveal the must-see places and share our personal experiences to enhance your next trip.
In Albufeira, a city known for its lively atmosphere and picturesque beaches, we embarked on a breathtaking boat tour. We explored the majestic sea caves, including the renowned Benagil sea cave, and immersed ourselves in the city's energetic vibe.
Faro, a city bustling with travelers, presented us with a different experience. Despite its size, we discovered that exploring Faro meant seeking out activities. We attended a captivating fado concert, visited a local mall and brewery, and more.
Tavira, although small, proved to be mighty. Despite not being at the top of most Algarve visitors’ lists, Tavira offered us unique experiences. We joined in a live street car race, explored a salt mine, and spotted flamingos in the wild.
Throughout our Algarve escapade, we uncovered some of our favorite dining spots. We highlight a restaurant known for its irresistible grilled fish and another one offering an upscale dining experience.
Whether you're planning an Algarve getaway or simply curious about its offerings, this video is your go-to guide.

Albufeira!!! I liked the boat ride and the caves...always intrigued by caves...I admire how you two easily can converse with us via the camera and share your experiences, bounce ideas off each other, and cover the trip so thoroughly yet to the point.....and, of course, still enjoying the out takes!

Thanks! It's been fun to learn how to film and edit. Albufeira was fun, we definitely would go back - the videos of the caves really don't do them justice.

I'm looking to move to the Algarve this year. Tavira is a a possibility as well as Faro due to connections to Lisbon and international airport. Albufeira not really because it gets too crazy in summer but outskirts could be a possibility. Many places to explore in the Algarve, very large expat community from England and growing expat community from the US. Weather similar to Southern California where I currently live.

There are so many places to visit in the Algarve and each has their own feel so preferences vary person to person. We found it easy and helpful to connect with expat communities throughout Portugal, usually on Facebook groups. Good luck with the move!

In Faro you didn't visit Arco da Vila - an old town gate. The Old Town and the Carmo Church are the most beautiful and interesting parts.

You're right! The Arco da Vila in particular is quite impressive. Good suggestions for anyone headed to Faro.

Great video. We’re heading to the Algarve in Oct, so we appreciate all your insight. After watching, we plan to stay in Tavira for a week. Do you have any suggestions on where to stay there? Thx!

You are going to love it! We recommend staying within a 15-minute walk from the town center. This is because most restaurants, bars, stores, ferries, and the main Tavira train station are along the Gilao river. You'll probably want to explore both sides of the river, so staying close to the Old Tavira Bridge is ideal since it's the primary pedestrian bridge. There are other bridges, but they're not as lively.
Our Airbnb was a 10-minute walk from the Porta Nova train station, which is in the opposite direction of the town center. Our walk to the town center took about 25 minutes. We chose to stay further away as we wanted a more residential feel, were there for three weeks, and enjoy walking. However, we were able to easily take Ubers when we wanted to explore further afield without walking for over an hour.
If you plan to drive, staying near the Porta Nova station might be better as there is plenty of street parking and you're closer to the main roads. Hope this helps!
