  • Since engaging defensive against SAM's is no fun, the best option is to eliminate the launcher before they get a shot at you. Here's one way to do it!
The trick is to hit them at max range of your Maverick missiles, never letting them get a shot at you. Since fair fights reduce our chances of survival, it's best to prevent the fight at all by eliminating your threats before you arrive in their engagement zone.
Once the air defenses are eliminated, you're free to overfly the targets, use CCRP or CCIP bombing, or get down and dirty with the Avenger cannon...but don't do either of these things with SAM launchers or AAA guns tracking you.

Some good content here for people trying to learn. I hope it gets more views. Can always poke your head over on the DCS forums to get some people to take a look. I make videos for myself and my own entertainment.
As far as SAM/AAA go I suggest the utility called custom kneeboard. Get a good SAM/AAA chart for max altitude and max distance they can engage. There are a lot of wrong ones out there so I made my own based off the information in the in game reference manual. I've never been shot down due to ranges.
Another thing to remember is don't forget your altimeter doesn't care if you're over hills or not ;) Some people might say oh I'm at 10k feet on altimeter and this thing can't kill me. When they are not 10k feet above the hills and get shot down by something.
Unless its a really long range SAM the A10c has nothing to worry about. If there is a mission with long range SAM well the A10c is not meant for SEAD. It is suppose to have a SEAD flight like you said to clear it out. But if for some reason you absolutely have to get close or go in use terrain for your advantage. To hide yourself.
Also practice defeating missiles and using countermeasures properly just in case ;)

XBOXORANGEJUICE Thanks for the useful comment! I've been meaning to check out that custom kneeboard app...need to practice missile evasion, as well. Usually dodging one isn't too bad, but I bleed energy and attitude so badly that the second one gets me.

Can the a10c take out SAM 10 without being destroyed?

      Yep, but it's petty difficult.

@@Zilch79 how does it work? I can barely do that with HARMs on the hornet?

Not easy, know where it is, use terrain to hide yourself and popup lock and launch the mav. Then dive right back down
