I'm a renowned openings theoretician, and my favorite defense against the London is the Fried Liver.
Very suspicious.
BANNED!
What if the opponent goes for the etcetera variation? I am also confused about the fries variation but mainly etcetera
My opponent tried frying my liver, so I fried his first!
@@TocinosWhat if my liver is already fried?
What i like about Mr Finegold us his straight talk and generous compliments. 'The bishop dance was bad you played bad it was awful on both sides. But you won, good job.'
Why’s this guy act like he’s a GM
@@drosay8953 2600 is GM once you gain the title even if your rating falls you keep the title, so he is a GM.
@@drosay8953 so true! why is this guy act like that.
Normally yes. But this time I didn't understand the purpose of the video.
@@HiReeZin The purpose from my perspective is humour at bad play and poor understanding of chess.
Ben doesn't remember the name of a guy he's worked with over the last week, but he can name any random French IM he beat in 1900-dickety
Chess players, am I right?
dickety 😂 highly dubious
redtube, xxn, xtube, we know these names better than our own grandmothers'
Undercook Fried Liver: Banned
Overcook Fried Liver: Believe it or not, banned.
all cuz he is a vegan
If that's the level of play to get to 2000, I got a chance.
The sad part is that that's the level at 2000 and you'll probably never reach it :(
This is the only way I will actually learn what the fried liver is
There's no way these people are 2000. Black botched the opening on move 3 (normally a 2000 can play 7-8 moves or theory fairly easily), some moves broke some basic chess principles, and one-move tactics were missed.
It looks like two kids got on their parents chess accounts and started playing.
Im well over and play zero theory on purpose.
@@lostone9700 Ok, but that's just 'cause you don't want chess to be boring, I feel you. I also sometimes ignore theory because sometimes it feels like I'm playing the same game over and over 👍🏼.
Maybe this was a 1 minute bullet game. But you are right that whoever was white didn’t know that moving the bishop to G3 and trading there to open up at the rook sets the classic London checkmate trap with queen D3 if they castle king’s side.
This feels like someone who has watched a video on how to set up the London but didn’t pay attention to potential black responses and how to deal with them.
Black also appears to have never played against the London system because of both trapping the bishop as stated in the video and not going pawn to C5.
@@onewayraildex4827 Nope, 10-minute game. Makes no sense to me. Somebody posted in the stream chat, near the end, that everyone can have a bad day. And, sure, two 2000-players could have a bad day at the same time, and play this nonsense. But wouldn't a 2000-player just say "Wow, that was nonsense" rather than "Hey, Ben, can you analyze my game in public and tell me if I did good?"
Pretty normal for 10+0 players in my experience... they're really awful.
"This is not a Fried Liver!" I have the same pet peeve, Ben.
It takes 2 cooperating people to get into a position. Who knew? Ben knew.
This is a riot! The only reason to watch this game played through is Ben's roasting of both players. Low tutorial value, high comedic value.
As the world’s leading expert on the bongcloud, it counts as long as you play e4 and premove Ke2
Typically this leads to a symmetrical bongcloud, long considered the most robust defense (although white's advantage is considerable). There is also the more cautious French Meth Pipe, which begins 1. e4 e6 2. Ke2 Ke7 3. d4 d5 where white has a spatial advantage but black's position has a reputation of solidity.
The difference is that a system like the london, the king's indian or the hippo can be played against a variety of setups, unlike an opening which requires certain moves from each player to be attained.
Ben is perpetually grumpy and it's hilarious.
4:38 is the Blundon.
😂😂😂 this is not the najdorf killed me
And Happy Hanukkah!
I get the frustration with the Fried Liver attack. I'll even be honest, I called 4. Ng5 the Fried Liver until I learned about the Lolli Attack (6. d4). That really cemented 6. Nxf7 as the Fried Liver for me.
This video shows several openings where the bongcloud could be played. Expanding theory and breaking new ground.
I thought the fried liver attack was the f7 knight fork (supported by bishop), winning a queen or rook. Thought what he showed was just a variation with a checkmate trap
Never got banned for watching a video. Good job!
Which opening is the Fried London?
4:45
no, london is in canada
you are banned
LOL what a roast
Ben has no filter, or little filter.
this guy is great look at him go
Well, I know what 2nd move I'm playing the next time I play Ben with White
if d4 e5 bf4 was worth naming it could be called the London gambit
Are viewer submitted games a regular thing? I'd love to try and submit one of my more interesting games.
Thank you! I've been saying that it is not the Fried Liver unless black Blunders with NxP?? and then White then can choose to play the Fried Liver with their own NxP! (I remember back in the 70s reading "Chess in a Nutshell", and the Fried Liver was mentioned in a note, so I started playing the Italian just so I could maybe play the Fried Liver! I was a kid a the time, the idea wasn't because I recognized how hard it was to defend, but because I liked the name. :) Anyway, thank you again for pointing out it's just the standard Two Knights up until it's not!
Fortunately for GM Finegold, I am an expert in the Bongcloud System, which I play frequently whenever I lose.
Does anyone know why Ben stopped uploading Sub Saturdays/streams where he plays against viewers? They were my favorite to watch before going to bed.
full streams were not getting as many views / taking up time I needed to spend doing other tasks, so we decided to stop posting them. However, the full streams are still on twitch in Ben’s VODs! Link is in the description. -Ben’s Editor
Listening to GM Finegold ..my favorite Banned. XD
he totally played fried liver. maybe even fried chicken
"More ban is better. Ask Negreanu" - very good!
It takes two to najdorf
What about color swaps of an opening? For example the Van Kruji's Ruy Lopez?
1. e3 e5 2. e4 Nf6 3. Nc3 Bb4
Which is exactly the mirror image of the Ruy Lopez as far as the game state is concerned, including for fifty move rule and actually-reachable threefold repetition? Is this the Ruy Lopez or not?
This needs a Mike Kummer cameo.
Grand Master Finegold I'm confused by so many things but now there's one less thing...
Worked against Fabi
I'm going to whisper something to you: BANNED!
Omg the famous Mr Feinstein
It's probably too late, a generation of players has been wrongly told that the whole opening after Ng5 is called the Fried Liver. But thank you for your service.
If you were wrong on the bong cloud, do you ban yourself?
2:34 LMAO
Hahahaha that was great.
If you throw a hockey puck into a basketball hoop, it’s not volleyball.
How are these guys 2000 and im still 1400?
Well you can say I play the hippo or hedgehog regardless of what they play
Next lesson: Chesscom Blitz/Rapid Glicko is *not* FIDE Elo, or worse, "ELO".
Ben, you looking good! Must not be eating much fried liver anymore 😉
The Fried Liv_Agar
The theme is you've been banned. More ban is even better than more cowbell? 😂
I've played a lot of Russians whose favorite was the fried liver. Sometimes a kidney, but usually the liver.
Ahhh the old 'rook a2 and rook h2 Najdorf', confusing the audience
6:05 "bishop dance was bad, the game was bad, you're bad and you should feel bad. And then you won! So good job!" 😂
You are all Benned
have a like and a comment. love your content, and you seem like an ok guy too.
What was the bortnyk joke? Summin' 'bout 'bortions?
My son is also named Bort.
ooooooOOOOOoooohhhh
As white, what if you open Na3 while eating a piece of fried liver? Is this considered the Fried Liver?
I play the 2 knights. I even had to set my own chessable course with how much the fried liver infected every other course on this opening.
Ben couldn't be more right.
How did the fried liver even get a name it's so fucking far in the game
Because it was played quite a lot in the 19th century .
the story is that this is what Ruy Lopez was eating while a game in progress went here and he pklayed the Nxf7 sac
I've heard that the Italian name for this opening (fegatello) is the name of an Italian recipe for slowly cooking a liver over an open flame. This is an analogy for White's attack on the black king - it starts out slow but things heat up quickly and the flames cannot be escaped.
I heard a third explanation that is because f7 stands for "Fried" as in F and "liver" as in the shape of the "7"
the Zizek of chess
EPIC RANT
Why Ben is Bening everyone again?
Is that Jack Daniels?
looked like the 0.05 vs 0.08
Let he without blunders cast ther first ban
😂
Ben, I liked you before, but learning that you are a vegan, now I love you!
100% agree re the Fried Liver naming!
Soyboy triggered
Moral of the story: chess is a game for two consenting adults.
Can I be banned too?
Old man yells at complicated recipes
Эх сменить бы пешки на рюмашки и сразу бы прояснилось на доске.
I'm always so confused when I see 2000s play like this that's double my elo but I develop my pieces. I don't understand how they got that high, they look trash.
Tactics alone will take you shockingly far
@@skye275 I honestly don't think they would beat me more than 66% of the time is what I mean. I appreciate they've probably got a lot more games under their belt I've been playing casually for 13 months maybe 250 games; just kinda expect more from experienced players 2000 is actually a decent rating 1000 is nothing really.
2000 is not a great rating it’s about equivalent to an average club player otb
@@declansmith7041 2000 makes you the top 2% that's like saying an A* isn't a good grade. Yeah in terms of being elite you need smaller percentages but it certainly makes you a good player.
@@declansmith7041 These people aren't playing like average club players...
"Fried Liver Rant" might be clickbait of the year
Surely it has to be „MAGNUUUUS OMGGGG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!“ by GothamChess.
Ben ..... you're a vegan??? Wow, I never knew? GO BEN, you're the best!
Everyone knew, youre banned
Imagine your teacher analyzing your game. ah ouhh uoach never play f6 a3 terrible you are a woodpusher i agree with that yeah and know you loose gg.
I was hoping it would be a rant about how people need to move on from the Fried Liver. It's embarrassing when people are still trying it at advanced levels consistently. Learning every line of it really pays off all the way to 2000.
embarassing for white or black? which side is "trying it"? both players have to play into it. or do you mean 4.Ng5? in that case, did you watch the video?
Cranky vegans be cranky 😂
No direspect, but is much more useful study all these recurring positions (for us players under 1100) and learn what to move than putting energy into identifying openings by proper names. Basically we are chess nubes and we wanna not get forked by what we call FL. I love your channel though good sir.
After reflecting some after years of seeing this streams off and on...Hes literally austictic or some spectrum right?
otherwise hes literally insane to same the same things all the time every time like a tape on play lol
You sound "Hangry", maybe time for some Chocolate - and so forth...
