I like it when the Phantom hit the floor and smashed it in agony and pain of losing Christine. It’s another interpretation no one has done yet, or so I haven’t seen. It’d be nicer though had he left a few seconds before started singing, “Christine, I love you...”

AT 0:10 OH NOOOOO I FEEL THE FEAR SHUDDER THROUGH THE GIRL PLAYING CHRISTINE... WHEN SHE PAUSED HER NOTE BECAUSE SHE HEARD SHE WAS OFF KEY FROM THE WINDS. But still a very professional and good call :D *applauds*
Also loved how you gave the downbeat and casually walked out while conducting at 10:05 for your curtain call XD
Thanks for uploading these videos though, it's always amazing to see what goes on in the "pit" or "backstage" in these type of musical productions.

That's a really common area to mess up, actually -- I've heard people in professional productions go _way_ off there too

interesting hearing the playout so early (it's always started after the Phantom takes his bow)

Love this Kris! Had to be the last show, everyone's erasing notes, lol. I hate that part after a close! Take care! :)

why do the musicians do this??? surely the scores are theirs, and the notes would be helpful for next time?

I'm mildly surprised that no one made photocopies of the sheet music; one ink pen mark and no good.

Always great to see the musicians.
Felt like the horns were off in places? Not sure though. Nice job all around, though.

I have to ask: Why some musicians gum on their score during the performance ?

After the last show of a production, the musicians are required to return their music books. They must be clear of all pencil markings, so they are erasing their books as they go through the performance.

@@katli4806 because the rights are not publically available. At least in the US. Most shows don't release the rights to amateur productions and until the Broadway run is over. I know the rights to Phantom have been available to amateur productions in a couple other countries, like Australia, but not in the US at this time, unless they were given specific permission from Andrew Lloyd Webber's productive n company.

Kathy Li because of the rights, and the “rules” for setting it up.. i know someone at a theater who worked with this musical, and there was so many rules and “restrictions” in the contract, it seems crazy that a School could set it up 😅

  • @JMRSplatt

Some of these parts are so ridiculous... does any pit get them 100%?? I doubt it. Nice job!!! The 4/4 that says it's in 8 for whatever reason.. shifting 3/2 to 6 or 3... odd time signature placements. ... many mistakes in the percussion part for Timpani note changes. Ooof.
Keyboardist with the erase as you go on the last night efficiency. nice.
