In those interviews with the CEO when she said there is no list... I would LOVE for them to say, "Okay. Let's test that theory." Then introduce a YT content creator who gets their videos demonetized instantly. Have that person upload a short video of the sky with no audio and upload it in front of her with some of those harmless demonetized words in the tags and see her reaction when it gets demonetized. Then go, "Please explain." And if she still denies it say, "Shall we try again?" And repeat the process. haha.
Needless to say, that would be incredibly satisfying to watch AND experience

I have just worked for Lionbridge as an "ads quality rater", and I was let off because my ratings were "wrong". They asked for my opinion on websites and youtube videos, and made it clear that it was important for them to get honest perspectives, but I was still fired because my opinions on whether youtube videos could be monetised or not were "wrong". The only thing Lionbridge employees are told when rating a video is to decide whether the video falls into one of the several categories of "brands wouldn't want to advertise on this". When I wanted my money for the work I did, I got automated responses, and could not for the life of me reach an actual human being. Also worth noting - they make you sign a huge contract to make sure that you don't tell anyone what these "advertiser forbidden" categories are.
I'm three or so years late, but the second they refused you money for your work, your government should have been involved. I'm not sure where you're from, but you're due your pay either way. Work without pay is slavery, fired or not.

So the users themselves have to methodically probe the algorithms by injecting inputs and studying the outputs along with other reverse engineering methods just so they can follow the rules. Which reveals the very exploits that CZcams was trying to hide in the first place.
So what exactly did hiding the rules accomplish in the first place? There will always be Rule Lawyers who game the system. You just have to deal with them manually. Hiding the rules will not stop this from happening. Also determining context is an AI Hard problem.

I find that when I go back to some videos even now, i remember the 1 video i disliked on purpose bc i leave videos/channels alone if i don't like them - but the videos with dislikes aren't even ones i don't like, i wonder if this is a common thing or if it's just my tech? it's such a small thing on the page i doubt most people would notice unless they're rewatchers like us

Not just history anymore, it's controversial ideas. Sure, LGBTQ videos are demonetized, but right not it is conclusively harder to find the content of conservatives than it is of liberals if you just search for them. I don't know who the biggest LGBTQ creator is, but if you look them up on the search, you'll probably find the top hits being from their channel. Do that with Steven Crowder or Ben Shapiro, and the top videos are from other channels. This is the world CZcams is creating and it scares me. Hope the PragerU lawsuit goes through, be better for all.

Same. I think I subbed around the time this channel started to get more attention when the yoga pants and idubbbz expose type videos where YT blockbusters. The NC comment above is pretty accurate, it's 2020, the city newspaper here prints stories that are intentionally vague in first couple paragraphs to distract you from the fact that the story is 10 months old. They uses empty rhetoric that encourages low information readers the chance to get angry and dismiss the article before they can get to the part that contains the clarification to tie the whole thing together. If you make it that far with out forgetting what it was all about, 98% of the time, you end up disappointed because the headline was never as big of a problem as the bold wording would assert or in a couple case it's a "bold faced lie" lmao....for such a big and geographically interesting state/region you'd think there would be more going on here, hmmm...

I've been suffering from random de-mnetizations for uploading even raw gameplay and any footage taken of Discord, videos where I joke with people voice acting all get demonetized. Their system is atrociously bad at detected actual inflammatory content and it instead destroys neutral content. So many of my videos that I've worked on for over 50 hours each have never seen the light of day due to the Recommended suppression of these videos. Ruined. This has been a major stress factor in my life.

I straight up put “Coffee Break” into the search bar and the channel never came up. I put the exact name of the video and it was like the 3rd or 4th search result. It’s insane.
The word "Die" is in the list, which means "The" in German. How many German-languages videos have been demonetized for having one of the most common words in their title?
If the algorithm was even a little smart, it should be able to understand that the title is German from the rest of the words in it. It should then be able to use a different list of blacklisted German words (where Die is of course not included). They probably do have these lists already because German YT is also being demonetised like crazy.
Of course, the algorithm is NOT very smart, so who the fuck even knows anymore...
Just use der or das instead, makes it grammatically incorrect, but saves you.
the issue is that youtube doesn't tell anyone of this rule, so no one can follow it.
Technically it means “she” and refers to words that are “feminine” (by a different meaning. A word’s gender is determined by it’s pronunciation.)

I think that people find this surprising only because they think CZcams is targeting gays. In truth, CZcams doesn't want anything that can be construed as controversial. I mean have you seen the list of words? It's a joke!
It should not just be the gay community to benefit when CZcams fixes this. The point is that EVERYONE is struggling from this
I do not disagree with the fact that demonetization is bad, but some of these channels talk about things like the sexuality of children that are obviously meant for small children, show extensive kissing that is the focus of the video (which is against youtube's policy of displaying sexual acts as a main focus) and also have inappropriate objects on their thumbnails (upperCHASE1). So while it is unfair to demonetize due to having these words in the title, the claims that it is discriminatory against LGBT doesn't really hold up since CZcams does not specifically target them and some of their content are against their policy.

It's just the logic that bots use. If you have to point out the ethics of something, then it must take into consideration unethical things being talked about. Mentioning a polarity in something, especially something where one polarity is controversial, always has to refer to the opposite side. Because of that relationship between the words ethical and unethical being used together commonly, the bot must notice that consistency, and flag ethical as well. It's a complete hypocrisy, but it's a logical one.
It might be why gay and trans are flagged. If you're talking about your sexuality or your biology around sex, you might be talking about sex. Considering these subjects are so related, then it instantly makes that correlation and puts it into the category of "possibly inappropriate."
Vibra I mean, the term homosexuality or gay is literally referring to who you want to reproduce (have sex) with.

This is better produced(and definitely more original) than the majority of television series I've seen on cable, even in its prime (And I'm part of the generation MTV shaped & destroyed).
CZcams is really making a mistake by hindering such high quality content. This is the sort of content CZcams has always needed, to be taken seriously by mainstream audiences as something more than a place people go to watch millennials with AstroTurf colored hair play games and make weird noises (dose Sean still make video?).
Still though... I was really surprised this had a ad mid way through. Don't remember what for though, because as per usual I instantly glazed-over and skipped it as fast as possible. But it was pretty clear (for obvious reasons) you all didn't expect this to be monetized.
I truly respect the integrity on display here. Thanks for putting in the effort, even when CZcams won't.

I believe CZcams has a list of top tier CZcamsrs that automatically have all their videos monetized. That's how Logan Paul had his video with a dead guy in it monetized for a while.
Actually, it is partly right. There is another tier of youtube. The National TV Stations like CNN, Fox, ABC, NBC, etc. They have a separate monetization system where they can control who advertises with them. As such their videos NEVER get demonetized. It would not surprise me if the bigger content creators are included in that deal. (CZcams has admitted to this other tier as well.)
