They are all stunning fish and not surprisingly all from the gosanke group. I don't know how the judges manage to pick a winner out of 2000 koi. A very daunting task for sure.

My favourites are showa, hi utsuri, shiro utsuri, kujaku, aka mizuho ogon, kumonryu hajiro and I like mono coloured fish too ! I like kohaku and sanke, but I've seen so many in 44 years of keeping koi that I like different varieties now 🙂 and which ones do most people love ? - the friendly ones !

I usually don't see what the judges see in these fish but i gotta admit the grand champion is fuckin incredible the way the beni is shaped between the eyes is really unique and interesting and lord shes massive

Great video yvo! I agree with your opinion on that one sanke it has great skin and pattern but not a fan of the body at all. Can’t wait for the next video I’ve seen some incredible koi that didnt win a major award!

I think the 3 biggest koi, including the Grand Chapion are impressive...... but feel the are too massive?? They are no longer elegant! I prefered the mature champion sanke, I think! 🥰🥰 Happy mine are much smaller, though they grow like crazy! 😅😅 Looking forward to se the other winners!

Im very new to Koi so i have a question. Most winners are kohaku, sanke and showa, a Lot of farms also Focus on These. Do Most of These Lines become bigger/have better shape and pattern and so on and therefore win more or are they Just more popular for other reasons ? If the First one is true doesnt IT also mean that they are under Stronger selective pressure and will Always win more ? I really Like the utsuris for example But of the Most famous farms only shinoda focuses on them right?
i worked with one of the most renowned breeders in poodle dogs around the world in dogs some colors use to have more quality than others, and they are also the most famous beetwen people since the begining of time, like white and black poodles, or the fawn of brindle great danes, or gold and black cockers, have the most quality and were allways prefered by people but this man with i used to work used his quality black to get another marginal colors with the same quality as a personal challeng, but it took at least 3-4 generations and experience of 35 years breeding champions. and he was beginin with some of his already champions.. and everything its money when you live of this and the level people expect from you is so high, for sure you one expert breeder can get champions in any color if they like, but in fishes who has many components as the size of the scales or the place the spots are places you just cant mix a champion kohaku with any color, i see in dogs an interesting side of some top breeders who are almost bored of allways won who does things like this and take a personal project and does something like that taking a marginal color animal and taking in to the best they can... but its something not available for everybody, becaus of money and experience and some things wich only visible for a super expert eye , anyone could try ... but others with their kohakus and showas are centuries ahead you but for sure can be done.
