As a devout Jew, Jesus adhered to the commandment to "honor thy father and mother," demonstrating respect and honor toward His biological mother, Mary. So, how are we to understand the incident recorded in Luke 11:27-28?
“As Jesus was speaking, a woman in the crowd called out, 'Blessed is the mother who gave you birth and nursed you.' He replied, 'Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and obey it.'”
Jesus used this moment to impart a broader spiritual lesson about discipleship and the kingdom of God. While He acknowledged the significance of His biological mother, He emphasized that true kinship with Him is founded on faith and obedience to God, rather than merely on biological ties. Thus, rather than distancing Himself from His mother, Jesus redefined the concept of family within the context of discipleship and the kingdom of God, extending it to include all who faithfully follow Him.
Ironically, while many people try to interpret this incident in a way that minimizes Mary, they overlook that Mary is both Jesus' biological mother and a member of His spiritual family. Mary is doubly blessed!

The more religious a person is the harder they are to save.
It is easier to deceive a man than to convince him that he has been deceived.
When trying to reach those who are in the man-made works-based religions please realize why they cling so firm to their religion:
Realizing you are lost is a hard pill to swallow. It also feels terrible to realize you've been lied to and deceived by your religion. It's a similar feeling as being robbed. So it's easier to reject the Truth and instead hold onto pride and your religion than to face this.
Since these man-made works-based religions are usually several generation deep, coming to the Truth about your own lost soul also means facing the grim reality that your parents, grandparents and many others are also lost and many even died in their sins and it's too late now. That is an extremely tough Truth to swallow so again they cling desperately to their religion and reject the Truth.
In the end it doesn't matter what Jesus said and the Word of God, we want our man-made religion and the god of it. It makes sense to the natural man that he can earn his way to God.
So please keep that in mind when trying to reach these lost religious people. They are Spiritually Dead in trespasses and sin just as we once were and only the Spirit of God can reprove/convict them of sin, righteousness and judgement to turn on the light bulb of Truth to their real need and draw them to Him. Start with prayer and continue praying every step of the way.

Try again, start with the annunciation, the visitation, the Birth of Christ, the presentation, the finding of the Lord in the Temple, the Agony in the Garden, the scourging, the crowning with thorns, the carrying of the cross, the Crucifixion, the Resurrection, the Ascension, the Descent of the Holy Spirit, the Assumption, the Coronation, the baptism of the Lord, the wedding at cana, the proclamation of the Kingdom, the Transfiguration, the institution of the Eucharist. these meditations will bring you closer to the Lord and the saints. the prayers are said to keep your mind off earthly things. Mary is your mother, read John 19:17. the protestants are running away from the truth. do not let the devil confuse you, come back to the One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic church, the Roman Catholic Church, the church that Christ left us in Matthew 16:18 - you are Peter and on this rock I will build My Church and the gates of hell will not prevail against it.

I’m an ex-evangelical who also saw Marian devotion like you. Leaving Jesus out of Marian devotion takes away the heart of it. Marian devotion is nothing without our Lord Jesus Christ. Within the womb of Our Lady, Christ was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit.
Veneration of Mary is worship of the Lord God who used Mary as one of the vessels of grace. Mary is pointing us towards Christ and Christ towards God the Father to whom He is also the only way and entrance.
However, you cannot get to the entrance without a path leading to it. This path that leads to the entrance point is paved with many stones, some bigger and some smaller. These guide us to the entrance which is Jesus Christ.
One of these stones is Mary. The others are other Saints, many from the Old and many from the New Covenant. However, they all point towards Christ.
Veneration of Saints is therefore showing gratitude to God for these Saints. Without God using these Saints, we wouldn’t have the deposit of faith we have today. Because of them, we can now call ourselves Christian and thank God for it.

Shortly after she gave the Bible back to me, saying I will never read this! She believed that just because she belonged to the Catholic church and was buried Catholic she was saved! She was very hateful towards me. And to my daughter who was from my first marriage. She hated her too. I have forgiven her. Um, no. You have all of that scripture messed up. Cannibalism is forbidden. The Last Supper is not a literal feeding of Jesus. And no where in scripture is this cannibalism supported. There is a lot more about communion that the Catholic Church ignores, unfortunately.
There is also NO scripture whatsoever that will say that John saw Mary in Heaven. Revelation 12 is speaking if Israel. Chapter 6 says that she fled into the wilderness. Since when is there a wilderness in Heaven? And why would she to be nourished in heaven for 1260 days by God? This makes no sense. There isn’t and she wouldn’t. This was Israel who is protected by God during the tribulation. It’s God’s Holy Land being spoken about, not Mary. Revelation is about the end, not what has already happened. Three other women appeared too but these women are Jezebel who represents paganism, the scarlet woman who represents the apostate church and the wife of the Lamb representing the true church. What are Jezebel and the scarlet woman doing in heaven? There is no way they were actually there any more than Mary could have been. This was a gross assumption and misrepresentation of God’s Word. But since the Catholic Church has no problem with this or disobeying the commandment of Revelation 22:18, then why would truth matter?
You Catholics really need to start doing your own research outside of your in church teachings. You continue to repeat what you’re taught instead of reading the Bible for yourselves which I know you’re not allowed to do except the erroneous Catholic version written by abusing Revelation 22:18.
Any church that tells you to not open your Bible and see for yourself that what you’re being taught is truth, ask questions, even argue about it without consequences, is no church at all.
I got all of my information from John MacArthur’s study Bible.
If this noncatholic version is blasphemy to you, then read it fir yourselves and prove me wrong. You can’t get truth by only listening to your priest. He is in need of salvation too, remember.

Two of my best friends are Catholic, and I guess maybe they're going to a different church or something because when I asked them about salvation, they said it was through Christ alone and that they're part of the church because they enjoy the structure and the traditions, but they also said it wasn't the be all, end all of Christianity. They don't think I'm a heretic for being Baptist. They also said they pray directly to God all the time. We definitely have differences in doctrine and beliefs, but when it comes to salvation and what someone should do to be saved, we're on the same page and I absolutely believe they're saved. Perhaps this is a positive direction for the Catholic church, if this message is starting to spread. The prayer beads are also a common thread in Islam, Hinduism, and many others. But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking. Matthew 6:7.
The perpetual virginity of Mary is not Biblical, the brothers and sisters spoke of in the Gospels are not "cousins", there was a different word for that used for his cousin John the Baptist.
Mary was not only not born without sin, but proclaims in Luke the Jesus is "my savior."
Baptism always meant full body submersion and for adults. There is no Biblical foundation that babies need this "sacrament" to be saved. In fact, baptism by itself even in the NT is not a necessity for salvation. In one case a man and his entire family are saved prior to being baptized.
Purgatory is an invention by the Roman church to extort money by convincing followers they could literally pay to get their loved ones out of hell. Pretty sick.
Paul says that if you add to Grace it ceases to be Grace. And if by grace, then it cannot be based on works; if it were, grace would no longer be grace. Romans 11:16. And For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith-and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God- 9 not by works, so that no one can boast. Ephesians 2:8.
There are many others, but I will leave it with a few to think about.
The problem we have when we are young esp. is that our religion becomes our identity. It can be difficult to understand that it is not our identity. Until that happens you will be reluctant to let it go and follow the truth.

      Hi,
The rosary is beautiful if used correctly.
I come from a Baptist church but have a rosary. I love the Catholic Church.
      Mary is Jesus mother.
she said all nations would rise up and call me blessed. Mary is special she was full of grace according to scripture
Jesus said to John on thd cross, behold your mother.
      I contemplate on the mysteries.
I give my rosary to Jesus.
I have no problem with saying Hail Mary full of grace as Elizabeth filled with the Holy spirit said this.
I see Mary as a symbol of God's bride.
      Jerusalem. His beloved.
I don't pray to her I only pray to Jesus.
The reason my view turned was when I was in a house performing an exorcism.
The evil spirit didn't Want to leave.
I felt the Holy spirit say ask my Mum for help.
I didn't understand this but just said Hail Mary full of grace, that demon fled.
      My advice to you.
Jesus is the way Mary is not.
But God's ways are not our ways.
Another time I at a breakfast club and there was a golden picture of Mary on the bring and buy stall.
Jesus clearly told me to buy it.
I protested but bought the picture.
Ordered my breakfast with this hideous picture and people were joking about why I bought it at the breakfast club.
They all looked at the picture then ask me what ai believed in.
people stood around my table as I witnessed to them about Mary being Jesus mother and how Jesus died for our sins and how only through her son Jesus we are saved from our sins.
Needless to say God moved that day.
I can't explain it, just know it's Thy will be done not mine.
Jesus will never leave you not forsake you.
      Hold tight to him
      xxxxx

"If you believe you can get into heaven through your works, then there’s no need for Jesus. We tried to get in by our works, we FAILED." That's a straw man argument. The position of the Catholic Church is, in short, works AND faith. This is backed by scripture. James 2:17, "So also faith of itself, if it does not have works, is dead." James 2:24, "See how a person is justified by works and not by faith alone."
"Also I see Chatholics praising Mary more then praising Jesus." That's a personal anecdote that doesn't reflect the teaching of the Church. You should obviously value and love Jesus more, Catholics (and anyone) who worships Mary is sinning against the Catholic Church's position. But praying to Mary isn't the same as worship.
"I have seen chatohlics come to my church and during our praise and worship time they sat down in their seats and did not utter a word. If I was invited to a church and we were praising Jesus Christ our lord and savior, you better believe I will be clapping singing as an expression of praise. That was a big red flag for me." One's love or lack thereof for praise and worship is a matter of taste and not a reflection of faith. Catholic worship in general is far more solemn and more ancient being thousands of years old and praise and worship is an invention that's less than a century old so judging people's faith by their participation in praise and worship makes no sense.

Why this knowledge of Scripture is lacking among the Catholics is a direct result of the Nicea Council in the first Century AD, where it was decided that people should believe what the "God inspired" priests deemed as right, even if it contradicted the Scripture. Sadly, the denominations have also made that deathly alliance with the Catholic Church, in making an organization which overrides the Scriptures and will be their death knell.

I had grown up Catholic. I always struggled with "am I good enough if I were to die". I was invited to church by some Protestants and I felt that it wouldn't hurt since they were my friends. I was totally wierded out when there was a regular man talking instead of a priest.
Up to this point I had already had problems with the Catholic church's teaching on communion - the "miracle" of the bread and wine actually becoming the body and blood of Jesus. I also had wondered why I had to tell a priest my sins. I prayed to Mary too, but since I was never encouraged to read my Bible, I didn't know that this was any problem.
One of my Protestant friends asked me if "I were to die tonight, would I know for sure I would go to heaven." I did not know that answer. He explained God's grace through Jesus and I was saved.
Because of this I was shunned by many of my Catholic friends and family. They couldn't understand how I turned my back on the church. They didn't understand why I was baptized when I already had been as a baby. They couldn't understand as they were not "born again".
To my Catholic friends reading this.... take the time and read the Bible for yourself. Don't hold onto tradition. Seek truth and the Holy Spirit will lead you to the Lord and Savior Jesus. You will not need to wonder if you are being "good enough". Good works don't save us, but simply are fruit we display for the glory of Jesus.

Many Protestants worship by praying and singing songs. Catholics worship through the celebration of the real presence of Jesus Christ in the Holy Eucharist (Mark 14: 22, John 6:53), the celebration of the Holy Mass (Luke 22;19, Exodus 31:14). When we pray to Mary and saints don't accuse us of worshiping them. We don't worship the same way you do.

      @troywalstra9300 Před rokem +1

      @MillionthUsername and that's called idolatry.
The phrase queen of heaven appears in two passages of the Bible, both in the book of Jeremiah. The first passage deals with the things the Israelites were doing that provoked the Lord to anger. Entire families were involved in idolatry. The children gathered wood, and the men used it to build altars to worship false gods. The women were engaged in kneading dough and baking cakes of bread for the “Queen of Heaven” (Jeremiah 7:18). This title referred to Ishtar, an Assyrian and Babylonian goddess also called Ashtoreth and Astarte by various other groups. She was thought to be the wife of the false god Baal, also known as Molech. The motivation of women to worship Ashtoreth stemmed from her reputation as a fertility goddess, and, as the bearing of children was greatly desired among women of that era, worship of this “queen of heaven” was rampant among pagan civilizations. Sadly, it became popular among the Israelites as well.
The second passage that refers to the queen of heaven is Jeremiah 44:17-25, where Jeremiah is giving the people the word of the Lord which God has spoken to him. He reminds the people that their disobedience and idolatry has caused the Lord to be very angry with them and to punish them with calamity. Jeremiah warns them that greater punishments await if they do not repent. They reply that they have no intentions of giving up their worship of idols, promising to continue pouring out drink offerings to the queen of heaven, Ashtoreth, and even going so far as to credit her with the peace and prosperity they once enjoyed because of God’s grace and mercy.
It is unclear where the idea that Ashtoreth was a “consort” of Yahweh originated, but it’s easy to see how the blending of paganism that exalts a goddess with the worship of the true King of heaven, Yahweh, can lead to the combining of God and Ashtoreth. And since Ashtoreth worship involved sexuality (fertility rites and temple prostitution), the resulting relationship, to the depraved mind, would naturally be one of a sexual nature. Clearly, the idea of the “queen of heaven” as the consort or paramour of the King of heaven is idolatrous and unbiblical.
There is no queen of heaven. There has never been a queen of heaven. There is most certainly a King of Heaven, the Lord of hosts. He alone rules in heaven. He does not share His rule or His throne or His authority with anyone. The idea that Mary, the mother of Jesus, is the queen of heaven has no scriptural basis whatsoever. Instead, the idea of Mary as the queen of heaven stems from proclamations of priests and popes of the Roman Catholic Church. While Mary was certainly a godly young woman greatly blessed in that she was chosen to bear the Savior of the world, she was not in any way divine, nor was she sinless, nor is she to be worshiped, revered, venerated, or prayed to. All followers of the Lord God refuse to be worshiped. Peter and the apostles refused to be worshiped (Acts 10:25-26; 14:13-14). The holy angels refuse to be worshiped (Revelation 19:10; 22:9). The response is always the same: “Worship God!” To offer worship, reverence, or veneration to anyone but God is nothing short of idolatry. Mary’s own words in her “Magnificat” (Luke 1:46-55) reveal that she never thought of herself as “immaculate” or deserving of veneration; on the contrary, she was relying on the grace of God for salvation: “And my spirit rejoices in God my Savior.” Only sinners need a savior, and Mary recognized that need in herself.
Furthermore, Jesus Himself issued a mild rebuke to a woman who cried out to Him, "Blessed is the mother who gave you birth and nursed you" (Luke 11:27), replying to her, "Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and obey it." By doing so, He curtailed any tendency to elevate Mary as an object of worship. He could certainly have said, “Yes, blessed be the Queen of Heaven!” But He did not. He was affirming the same truth that the Bible affirms-there is no queen of heaven, and the only biblical references to the “queen of heaven” refer to the goddess of an idolatrous, false religion.

But scripture goes against the teachings of the church too often. When I was 25 I left the Catholic Church. I found out that many of the teachings were antithetical to the word of God. When I questioned this, I was told that "only a Priest can interpret the scriptures." This is what Muslims, and Johovah's Witnesses say also.
There are many others, but I will leave it with a few to think about.

Jesus Christ our great and kind God and savior, built His Church on Peter the rock way before the new testament was even written. The same Church authority in Peter that stood up and put an end to all the debating at the council in Jerusalem since Scripture alone could not, and that later determined which of the over 75 letters written were to be included in the new testament and which were not. The Catholic Church that Jesus Christ established does not worship Mary as being God, that is reserved for Jesus Christ and His Eternal Father and Spirit alone, yet, the Catholic Church does give Mary special reverence, as did the Jews with the ark of the covenant of old, as seen in Elizabeth, who proclaimed, "Who am I that the Mother of my Lord should come to me?", (Luke 1:43, 2 Samuel 6:9), as all generations shall call Mary blessed. If that is so, what power could possibly over-power Him? Did you invite a demon into your life?? If the answer is no then you have nothing to worry about. Still, if your mind becomes anxious and you feel scared, call aloud “In the name of Jesus I bind all that might want to cause me harm. This house and all within it belong to Jesus Christ!” You might even ask your Mother to sit with you and pray over you while you sleep. I’ll keep you in my prayers as well.

They spoke of other people who were irrelevant. When i was in the catholic church, i elevated Mary above all, I remember telling my dad that i would always be a catholic and never will i change . . but man when God came to me, He has the power to change anyone...
I remember when i had heard the gospel for the first time in my 20's . oh how i wanted to know more of this Jesus.
I remember telling the person who told me the gospel, "I'm confused concerning Mary" and his response was, "ask your Father who is in heaven. You are His child now". (This was days after i believed the gospel)
Well i did what he told me to do. I had ask My Father who was in heaven concerning Mary, and His response was so simple . . . "This is my beloved Son , in whom I am well pleased. Listen and follow Him".. And i was quick to renounce and repent all of my catholic ways.
Blessed be the LORD, the God of Israel, who redeems His people and sets them on the Rock of eternal life. Blessed is Him indeed!
And i started realizing the error in the catholic church . . . from idols to confessions to all of these traditions of man.

Teraise Weeravong Yes, the four gospel accounts are read during mass, but this is not THE gospel message. THE gospel is defined in 1 Corinthians 15:1-4 “Now I would remind you, brothers, of the GOSPEL I preached to you, which you received, in which you stand, 2 and by which you are being saved, if you hold fast to the word I preached to you-unless you believed in vain. 3 For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, 4 that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures”
So the gospel is that Christ died for our sins, was buried, and was raised for our salvation. The four gospels that are read during mass are called gospels because they are the written accounts of Christ’s work on our behalf for our salvation. Catholics recite these books during mass, but do not have a proper understanding of what they were all about.

However, we do affirm that Christ meant what he said, and mysteriously gives us his true body and blood in the Eucharist. It is a means of grace in which we receive the benefits of his work on the cross. We don’t call it anything like transubstantiation though, since it is still referred to as bread and wine, body and blood. And we don’t try to explain it in general, but just accept this mystery since He said “this IS my body”

The word "whatever" is an absolute. There is no qualification to the authority our Lord gave the church he established. That historical church that came down through the apostles is the Catholic Church.
Our Lord Jesus is in charge and he identifies so completely with his church to the point that he said that those that reject the church reject him.
Jesus has complete trust in the church so that when the apostles and their disciples wrote the gospels and epistles these are considered the word of God himself.
The New Testament is the word of God because it is the word of the church as Jesus did not write anything that survived.
The Catholic Church is the historical church that Jesus established and came down through the apostles. It does have a checkered history with failures, sins, and crimes going to the top of it's hierarchy. But Jesus promised that the gates of hell will not prevail. The church also has a history of great saints and heroes, imperfect and sinful but doing their best to advance the Kingdom of God to the world.
Protestants defied and rejected the church thereby also rejecting the Lord. They usurped the Bible the church compiled and created their own rival churches. They brought confusion and division, and dismembered to the body of believers. This compromises and endagers the work of the Kingdom.
Protestants set themselves as their own authority, claiming the Bible alone is their authority but violating its precepts against divisions.
The solution to poorly educated Catholics is better catechism and evangelization, not abandonment of the only church Jesus established and guardian its sacraments.

@Lanette There is no proof that Jesus wrote a Bible, or commanded the apostles to write the Bible to be the only authority and source of doctrine.
There is proof that Jesus established a church, and gave it the power to rule, determine doctrine, guard the Lord's teaching, minister the sacraments, forgive sins, and spread the gospel.
That Church came down from the apostles and is the one, historical Catholic Church.

    • @luisaymerich9675

Scripture was good for the Bereans but it was not good enough. Otherwise it would read that when the disciples came to the Bereans, the Bereans would have said "We all know about Jesus, we read it in the Bible on our own."
But that is not what Scripture shows. What it shows is the disciples explaining to the Bereans how Jesus fulfills the prophecies in Scripture and the Bereans followed along and accepted teachings of the Church.
Read it again. The passage proves the Catholic position that it is by both the Church and Scripture together that we come to know Jesus.
You cannot show the historicity of the Bible outside the historicity of the church which goes all the way to the apostles. The historical record is out there.
Protestants are able to divorce themselves from the Church because the Bible which the Church put together and canonized has already existed for over a thousand years by the time of Lutger. But Protestants still cannot come together to form a unified belief because they are their own authority but say it is the Bible.
You want proof from Scripture, first show me where it states that Scripture is the only authority. Even if it were shown to you, you will not believe Scripture because it would not fit your own authority.
If you honestly wanted the truth you would consider all the information. Instead you set up barriers even on Scripture. Yes, Mathew 16:18 shows Jesus establishing his Church on Peter along with other verses.
Unlike Protestants who establish doctrine on a single truncated verse from Scripture taken out of context, the Catholic Church considers all of Scripture together along with the experience of the Jewish people and the apostolic church.
The Pharisees demanded proof from Jesus but still rejected him. At least the Bereans listened to the Church.
I invite you to start looking at all the historical proofs with an open mind and sincere desire for truth.
Christianity has too many enemies and our own divisions impede the work of the Gospel.

I was a devoted Catholic , my dad got shot and was close to death , I asked virgin Mary to take me instead and keep my dad. I was depressed and hated myself at that time. I prayed and cried until I passed out. When I woke up , I was in another world. Spiritual world . I saw demons, and the whole world was telling me to kill myself that I killed my dad, the hospital was full of rats, everyone was pointing at me with mean looks . I saw my dad in the hospital , I didn't recognize him . I didn't trust anyone . I saw my dad get buried so I didn't know what was real and not real. I tried to kill myself to end my nightmare but a bright white light saved me, it stopped me from killing myself. I repented from doing that . I went back to the hospital , my family saw my mark on my neck , so they put me in the mental hospital . I knew if I say my truth they will put me in there for life . So I asked to go back to my mom in the USA , because I felt homesick. And doctors told my family to take me back to my mom. ,(My dad got shot in Mexico). I left Mexico as soon as I got close to the border I stopped seeing and hearing demonic beings. And I was normal again. I left the Catholic church and I gave my life to Jesus and almost all my family members are Christians too.:) Even my dad who was possessed with demons since he was a child . He survived the wound and 20 years after he died of cancer and gave his life to Christ . .
this is what happened back then : I gave my self to the virgin which opens the door to Satan to take over . But God saved me in my ignorance. . Don't worship Mary.
Now I have the ability to discerned spirits from pastors and leaders. I see their demons. And their motives to confuse the church. And demons are all over church, trying to destroy it.
