As usual, your videos are informative, helpful and spot on! We went to Madrid a few years ago (pre-Covid) and were surprised that most people spoke little to no English. The tinto de verano was our favourite drink while there and we loved the churros and patatas bravas. Unlike most European cities, there were fewer foreign tourists. It’s a beautiful city with incredible architecture and lots of great shopping. We also loved the easy day trips to Toledo, Segovia and Salamanca.

You certainly did your research. I noticed you started your video with an overhead shot of the in fashion Spanish destination at the moment, Valencia city.
Yes, much much cheaper than Barcelona which you showed quite a lot in your video!
I have lived in Spain for more than 30 years and have travelled extensively around Spain.
    I never tire of it.
For anyone wanting to visit, Madrid is the capital. A must.
From there, the AVE express intercity train network will take you to Seville, Valencia but not Barcelona. However, there is a fast intercity train to Barcelona as well.
Those are the 3 cities you should see.
Tomatina is a tomato throwing fiesta which happens at 12noon ( it is only three hours long! ) on the LAST Wednesday of August and you need to book to get involved. You cannot just turn up as it’s extremely popular.
The weather in Valencia ( Buñol, to be precise is where the Tomatina happens ) is extremely hot and sticky!
Madrid is empty of local people in the summer. But the museums are a MUST and day trips OR Segovia, La Escorial and Avila.
Sevilla is to be avoided during the summer for its torrid heat and also if you are not interested in the masses of people who flock to see La semana Santa ( Holy Week…) as it can be expensive for hotels and eating out but it is a wonderful sight to see as the locals all dress up and parades take place.
Valencia has the largest street festival in Spain called Las fallas which begins with “La Planta” ( the erecting of giant effigies in the streets made from wood…colour fully painted ) on the 15th march and are burnt on the 19th in the streets.
Every day from the last day in February until the 19th March they set off a daytime fireworks display in the main central city square at exactly 2pm. This is noisy, crowded and fun if you can take all the people.
At midnight they set off a giant firework display along a dried out riverbed which is a spectacular sound and light show to be seen.
Best thing of all, is it’s all absolutely free.
AirBnB type locations have sprung up u all over the city as valencia is not the new Barcelona.
Expect the pickpockets to follow suite…
Their local beach ( La Malvarrosa is a bus taxi or tram ride away and cheap as well as quick. You can do all this in a day and be in the city again at night to enjoy whatever.
Eating lunch and drinking is all day long. Dinner at 9pm onwards like all over Spain.
May fav place is Seville, the capital of Andalucía. Lots to see and do as well.
Of course, Spain has much more and is above all the most diverse country in Europe and can be accessed by car, bus, train or plane and is a pivotal country for visiting Portugal, France and Germany as well as Italy ( another must see country ) and of course North Africa if you have the time.
Just be prepared for a cultural experience like no other. And you will definitely LEARN something new by planning before you go.

@@forevermarriages3705 From mid June it gets hotter in Valencia but it bearable. July and August are the hottest months and when the local people tend to vacate the city although as Valencia is now well and truly trending ( Feb 2024 ) many people in commerce take their break in August. The 15th August is a public holiday. I’d recommend May and September or Oct-end Nov to visit as it is not as hot or busy

2:46 The good news is the languages are pretty similar to each other, as well as to Castilian (“official” Spanish) or Portuguese. So you just need to learn _Bo día_ for _Buenos días_ .
You probably don’t _need_ to know Gallego or Catalán to get by, but it will help endear you to the locals. People like to feel seen.
