daft punk are really geniuses. they sample songs in such clever ways and spin them into a whole new tune while paying tribute to the originals.
except for robot rock. we don't talk about robot rock.
Did they steal it? Did they really? OMGOMG!
😧😧😧
Yeah but it's still fire doe
Add Harder Better Faster Stronger to the list.
Discovery is the best album ever in my opinion. I even have the platinum vinyl in my room.
Knife Party sampling Pendulum
*spiderman pointing meme*
Mr. Swaglord only ogs know bout that
Lets keep it like that lol
@@Tozz_ ... Is this what qualifies as an OG nowadays? Not even 25 yet and I was around for that transition, don't think that counts.
@@anachronismic at 25 you are apparently considered veteran of EDM era. So feel good about that.
@@TheActualTed lmao I guess pre-monstercat counts these days. Hell, I was like 5 years late to burial.
I'm pretty sure that Daft Punk has enough song samples that you could make a video just on them, which would be awesome.
Rumor has it that they're working on a vaporwave album.
Liam Recacho "Kavinsky - Nightcall" is the closest either member of Daft Punk has gotten to vaporwave
I've read somewhere that Justice uses samples even more, they're just better at hiding them. I think it was something about their first album having 300+ samples in it
nah dude, Sebastien Tellier's album Sexuality was produced by Guy-Man and is way more aesthetic
Liam Recacho future funk more like

It sounds like a thug song similar to GTA SA theme LOL
Ok
what a coincidence that the original harlem shake song was called Miller time
George Miller is a fucking legend
it’s corona time
Lol Knife Party is the side project of Rob Swire, who is the lead singer of Pendulum. So I guess its ok that he sampled one of his songs.
Isn't Knife Party just two of the four people in Pendulum?
It’s always ok to sample
Wait I thought their were five people in Pendulum?
Wth my dad took me to a pendulum concert when I was like 8 and im pretty sure I met them, I didn't know they are knife party too. That's so sick (also probably why he doesnt like half their stuff seeing as he is a music elitist and only likes "good DnB")
@@DoneWN Every Pendulum fan hates knife party, because knife party's music sounds like someone would copy Pendulum's DnB style and merged it with dubstep

If this actually shocks them, were they really fans to begin with 🤔
@Angelo Robledo obviously.
@Juan Pablo :((((
I'm a daft punk fan but……… these *SAMPLERS* are for something
Robot rock literally just the exact same as the sample lmao
War Dog is your pfp inspired from King Crimson?
Some one said king crimson?
Stfu jojofan
Rich The profile pic is a JoJo reference though. It's a mixture of a character from the shoe named king crimson and the album cover for king crimson

funktronica is the greatest name for music I have ever heard
i have to admit it's hard to hear the daft punk ones for me. so many sounds i see as their signatures that i didn't know were samples, changes my image of them slightly. still mad respect for the skill with which they did it
exactly, daft punk are a total ripoff.
Every Daft Punk song that is on these lists are from an album called "Discovery". The whole point of that album was to revisit the songs they listened to as kids in a new way.
✪ Mire the Discovery album is a kind of "thank you" to the funk/pop influences they have, in the actual physic disc cover there are disclaimers and all the stuff, they paid royalties n shit.. it makes me sad to see people sayin' that hate daft punk without even watching one of a million interviews they talked about the samplin... and they are 90s DJs, at that time DJs didn't actually made songs, they were more into... you know... Disc Joking
Here's the thing though, sampling is not stealing. Sampling is taking something that exists and reimagining it and making it into something new. a lot of work and love was put into the sampling daft punk uses. it's all artists they have a deep respect for and things that formed their musical influence. albums like homework and discovery are in part their own art and in part tributes to artists that they love. it's very hard to sample something and make it into something entirely different and it takes just as much skill to do that as it is to create a song without sampling.
Blacklight EDM
Robot Rock is from Human After All.
I like most of Daft Punk's sampling, but I think Robot Rock is really repetitive, and Release the Beast much better.
2:29 *Boss theme intensifies*
3:01 GTA San Andreas theme LOL xD
Digital Love is just so goddamn good
knife pary sampled their own song from when they were pendelum? smart
Rob Swire Sampling Rob Swire.
It's not smart.. It's STONKS!!!
From a daft punk fan
Yes, Robot Rock is lazy
No, Harder Better Faster Stronger isn't lazy,
No, Digital Love is not lazy
No, but Robot Rock absolutely is
Absolutely not, Face to face is probably NOT lazy.
@@joselourenco5542 i never spoke about face to face LOL, and no it isn't lazy the samplework is mental
@@joselourenco5542face to face is the least lazy song they ever put out
President of Russia by day, useful CZcamsr by night
Makes you wonder how many songs can we produce today that have no need for any sampling to become a popular song
I like sampling, but I also like originality. Eventually everything will be sampling songs that sampled other songs. v a p o r w a v e c e p t i o n
A lot of vaporwave out there is made of cheap sampling techniques (including early songs of future funk). I won't even dare to put them into a sampling category just because most of 'em take HUGE chunks from a track with a drumloop. On the other hand, if you start working on a track with the same complexity as, let's say, Daft Punk's Face to Face or any song by The Avalanches, it will take you MONTHS to finish something like that... and I'm just talking about the samples as they need to be arranged in a coherent way to sound good. Good sampling is original in its own way, but you won't notice it until you experience it.
Joseph Stallin' The situation isn't as serious as you're making it out to be, I promise.
Rumors say Adele never sampled, I think she has some popular songs
I mean, most songs aren't sampled at all, and this is only a minuscule fraction of a specific branch of music, but whatever you say, Stalin
damn Robot Rock is pretty much a straight rip off :/
Robots mimic human behaviour!
Well, they got the permit from Breakwater, it would be a shitstorm otherwise.
The other two are pretty much straight rip offs too. Daft Punk are talentless hacks with a stale gimmick.
@@HikoSeijuroXIII You're funny
It's definitely a lazy flip but also the entire Human After All album was made in like a couple weeks so I understand it.
3:19 the original sounds wayyy better
Way more original you mean?
I agree with you either way though.
I used to be really pissed off at the song, Stronger, because of the blatant sampling of Harder Better Faster Stronger, but SERIOUSLY chilled out when I found out that Kanye West is actually friends with the duo, and they were totally cool with it.
I still greatly prefer Daft Punk's song, though. Don't like how slow West's version is.
You can't be mad about Kayne paying for the sample when Daft Punk did the same with a lot of artists. Also the fact that he added them in his video clip is a nice touch
Which is exactly why I stopped being mad about it. I was kind of a stupid kid.
Don't forget their collaborative performance at the 2008 grammy's
Just gonna put it out there, Daft Punk created Kanye's career :')
Pi listen to collage dropout and late registration

So knife party ripped themselves off? Lol.
*****
I know.
Salvage Edith Bamboozled again
came for this :V
That's why I love Daft Punk because, ok they took samples but the songs they made around them are clearly different from the original one. Conversely, too often, Future Funk and Vaporwave artists (and I love these genres too, especially FF) make the same song just with a beat added or a different tempo.
Tom Roussel Robot rock is the same fucking thing as the original
Human After All was their worst album, and they admit it, but, Discovery and Homework have one of the best samples technique, its so unique.
Ok, Robot Rock was the worst example they could possibly take.
Tom Roussel except for Robot Rock. I love Daft Punk and Robot Rock soooooo much but DAMN WTF THAT AINT EVEN A DIFFERENT SONG
Icarus Actually Daft Punk said it was their favourite album
Thanks George Duke, for making Daft Punk recycling your song into a new vibe one. And "Digital Love" still be my cellphone ringtone since 2008 til now 2020. n still counting
Next time I’m worried my sampling is too obvious I’ll remember that my favourite part of robot rock is an almost entirely unaltered looped sample with drums over it and I’ll feel better about myself.
it's not actually unaltered, they did some chopping to get rid of the vocals
Robot rock was just a small kink in the ai. So was the entire of human after all.
no human after all gets a ton of hate. imagine alive 2007 without human after all.
It's their weaker album tbh. Only "Steam Machine", "Prime time of your life" and "Brainwasher" are bangers, the rest are just "ok", "meh" or "Robot Rock".
Grey Technologic
It still blows me away seeing that Kayne asked daft punk to remix their own song for stronger and it's amazing.
I never thought Vaporwave/Future funk can go mainstream. but if the electronic scene can do the same thing, then nvm it can do the same thing
I like that Knife Party sampled their own work under Pendulum
Holdin on by FLUME IS EPIC!!!! Dang he really turned the orginal song around 🔥
can you make lofi hiphop and their original samples?
ShevaDecai thant's gonna be pretty hard
ShevaDecai it'd be all jazz lmao
Yes!
OH YEAH!
Yeahhhhsss
3:21 That bass!
Daft Punk masterpiece is the Live event in 2007 named "Alive".
Their music takes another turn even when you listen to it.
The real masterpiece is Alive 1997
the more I see the original sample tracks for daft punk songs the more I realize I need to make a Spotify playlist of all those original songs.
I’ve already watched 3 of your videos and. .......maaaan you are destroying my childhood group . Damm daftPunk
I live for these!! Thank you for your service
I live for your uploads
Thank you! Vla. It's amazing.
I missed you, Vlad. I am glad you're back
Element of Risk is based on Toccata and Fugue in D minor by Bach.
Digital Love took a melody and added a new vocal part to it (among other things), kind of like "I vow to thee my country" is from Holst's Jupiter or "Land of hope and glory" used the melody from Elgar's 1st Pomp and Circumstance march.
Every musician learns from those who came before, and they all use melodies, harmonies or instrumentations to make their works greater.
Thank you Vladimir, very cool!
After what 5yrs... New genres are gettin added to my list
Thank you Vladimir, very cool
Great job on these!
Great channel with great content!
i LOVE kanyes adaptation of HBFS. His singing plays really well with the feel of the song.
daft punk is the king of sample
justice is the prince of sample
I know this comment is 1 year old, but......
Then the avalanches are the god of sample

Fire Hive bumps! I find it funny that TWD decided to use Internet Freinds in the Van, first time I saw it I was like WTF why is this here!?
Knife Party sampling themselves is the most Pendulum thing ever.
Yeah i actually did notice you were gone man :(
Love how they don't actually sing "robot rock" but it sounds like it in both the remix and original

wow after hearing that a lot of daft punk tracks aren’t original, makes me question a lot of things....
Steve Barrios its only one album though only discovery had all samples

Welcome back man, just got a notification...I know, a couple of weeks late but still...
i love this so much
For anyone wondering about the intro song. It's "Come Back Down" by Home.
Very good quality video
All bops. All jams.
Boy, if you made a video about samples and vaporwave songs, you'd be in over your head.
Yes I noticed that you've been gone... I missed you
Fun fact about 3:34, Spyda eventually went on to doing a lot of lyrics for Dubstep tracks as Knife Party made people thirsty for more of that lyrical style.
Welcome back Vlad
I like the HOME song intro. Nice
Rob Swire is a genius for sampling his own song.
Heavy Metal by Justice was so great, now I have a second great song with the same base
Only saw 2 DJ Okawari comments... That's too underrated for me.
Seriously though, that breakwater track is so ahead of its time.
Daft punk...whoa I didn’t expect their sampling to me such straight rips
1:05 The Original is: Patrick Hernandez - Born to Be Alive
What?
Far fetched
Born to be alive is by the village people!
I see Daft Punk - I click
I hear HOME - I smile
That's the catch about deciding whether or not something is truly original, mildly original not so new or just plain stealing. The boundaries are not always so clear and distinct, because there is nothing new under the 🌞
Knife Party sampled Pendulum, epic
Chill Bass Flume !!! Nice
Thanks, Putin very cool!
0:19 GTA SA vibes
Ya gonna do any Fatboy Slim samples?
Shiiit... Daft Punk really punkd me thinking that they are so original...
This is like watching Pokemon evolve into a new form.
bro why does daft punk oscillate between actual creative innovative use of sampling and just straight ripping off another artists work 😂
There's so good music. I loved the minute 4:00, at least it's way better than remix.
Song + Daft Punk = Great song
3:13 went off and snap my brain went straight to Gabriel Gundacker's "I feel better" vine like a dog hearing somebody whistle
arabesque - in the heat of a disco night / fake blood - i think i like it
the lg electronics dancing forever takes a part of harder better faster
Every time I hear your intro, I'm thinking of The Weeknd's I Feel It Coming
kanye sampled a sampled song, and didnt even sample the original sample. just the vocals from the sampled version
Daft punk appear in the video of Stronger, i suppose they participate in the making procces
Digital Love, the song that I've loved since 1999 has a source material? I can fall in love again...
Came out in 2001
Looks like artists inspires other artists in music and in art
that background takes me in a conspiracy mood
when the episode about vaporwave samples ?
nice
Woah,Swamp Thing too?
0:49 I heard that on Roblox on epic minigames
