    brooo u kno i surport u 100 percent but i seee alot of tha comments below with people saying they gave up everything put shit in storage lived on tha trucc months to years at a time...and as i 100 percent respect that grind and dedicatiom buuuut aint no way in hell thats how this truccin shit posed to work. there aint another industry in this country people are giving up everything and living around tha country for $60k-100k a year personal gross....i kno im a lil crazy buuut theres noooo way you or anybody else can justify that? not for those wages. theres people who work blue colar jobs make $80-$150k a year and home every night.

      Thank you man. You are right. There are jobs that pay around the same amount. But some people realize that they can save a lot more money faster if they commit to living in the truck for a couple of years and save all the money they would spend on rent, gas, utilities, etc. while traveling. Also trucking is “easier”.
      It also depends on their personal goals.
      I think that if you want to buy a house fast and stop renting it can be a good option for example.
      I don’t think living in the truck forever is sustainable either. I think people need to have a purpose when out here. It is also not for everyone. But there is also some people that just want to be out here. Maybe having a family or a home is not a priority
      When it comes to what you said about blue collar jobs, that is 100% true. There are a lot of trades that can be learned in a short period of time that pay really well. Some also are eligible to get grants from the government and learn for free! Plumbing, electrician, etc. make $60k plus a year.
      You’re not crazy bro! I think🤔😝

    In December 2020 I finally moved out of my 1br cottage in California and put all of my belongings into a storage unit in Oregon. Changed my residency and started PSD at prime. I’ve been homeless now for 3 and a half years. It’s a sacrifice but I’m saving $50-$100 per day on rent and utilities. So for 3.5 years I’ve saved $63,000. I’ll eat out when there’s an opportunity for a decent meal but I also shop at Walmart and usually buy 3-4 days worth of food for the week to prepare on the truck. My logic is that I want to support small businesses on the road when I can, so if there’s a sit down diner along my route I’ll stop there for dinner.

    I just ended up deciding not to renew my lease on my apartment. I’m putting everything in storage and waiting out the storm. For the last 8 months I’ve been home twice and I don’t see no reason to keep paying $1400 a month for rent when I’m not there to enjoy it. I’m just throwing money away for a place that I’m not at.

    I will ask you the same question that what i have asked every lease driver,owner operator and people running on their own authority. How do you set up paying your taxes? You all are considered contractors os as 1099 workers.You are responsible for Federal,State if applicable,Social Security which is quite higher than a company driver,roed use tax which is charged in every state you drive in depending how much fuel you buy but NOBODY wants to talk about them.This could be valuable information to someone thinking about trying trucking for a careerWhat i do know if you get behind on them they can bankrupt you! Your net pay is what counts which is after all your expenses and taxes are expenses!

I use them and know other people at prime use them. Very patient and taught me a lot and their checklist is huge.
      I created my own spreadsheet with my out of pocket costs in google docs. I simply send them that at the end of the year, my end of year operating statement, my 1099, and my int which I believe is for the efund interest. They do the rest.
      I pay far less than abacus charges for their services, my taxes were filed on time, and they had me paying WAY less than abacus for quarterlies. I’m paid up until January next year, give them a look. I do all my corresponding with them via email.

  • @traypatterson5523
    @traypatterson5523 Před 22 dny

    The people leasing at prime have to understand they’re operating in the small box that prime allots for them and with that comes a very limited perspective and understanding on freight everywhere else. There are slow pockets in the freight industry right now but majority of all of it is general freight and that makes up most of what prime hauls. They’ve going downhill the past 4 years, I started with them back in 2018 and many long time veterans who’ve driven for prime for decades feel the same way. They’re spending all that money on a brand new massive terminal in Atlanta instead of gaining small footholds across the country, as a result their drivers are suffering now. You goto Upfield in Olathe KS, you’re gonna see 9/10 doors with a TransAm trailer in it…maybe 1 prime trailer. You know what transam got here that prime doesn’t? A yard and a shit ton of trailers at their disposal. There’s multiple days throughout the week where upfield is literally packed to the rim with loaded TransAm trailers and there’s not enough drivers to move them all. While I’m not advocating for TransAm, that my friend is what you wanna see as a lease driver and during my time at prime I never saw anywhere near as many of their trailers being loaded.

    • @Peruviantrucker
      @Peruviantrucker  Před 22 dny

      I definitely see your point. My first hand experience and perspective is definitely limited to running at Prime and what I gather from talking to people. Some of what you see online can be misleading. Especially a lot of comments. But the people at truck stops sing a similar tune when it comes to “post covid”, “election year”, “it’s a cycle every few years and covid delayed the down market”. Maybe I talked to the wrong people every single time 😅. But it makes some sense.
      I haven’t been paying attention to how many trailers are on doors when I pick up. Will do that from now on. The few places that I recall(tyson and smythfield) didn’t have thaaaat many, maybe 5 or 6. But a lot of pre loaded trailers and 3/4 drivers picking up while I was picking up.
      When it comes to the Atlanta terminal, I don’t entirely agree. I don’t know how much money they have to “play” with. But I would think they have their focus on multiple things simultaneously. Also, that terminal can be an indicator what they expect out of the market. Or maybe just Prime focused on growth to sell out🫠.

And I don’t blame them. I am all for solidarity and camaraderie. But at some point you have a family to support and that will trump everything.
      I think the market is correcting itself after covid. There are just too many drivers for the amount of freight at this time. Lease programs have been around for over a decade.
      Let’s entertain your view though. So, you are saying that people with no credit, no money, criminal record, etc are not allowed to better themselves? Because you are used to your lifestyle and what you are comfortable making? Theres no industry free of new players and competition.
      When it comes to the situation in Peru. There is a difference between the people/politicians using their positions of power to profit because they are out for themselves and the people that are working hard every day to improve their quality of life because they are out for themselves. You know better than to lump them together.
