Note: If you don't care about Corpses or the low chance of Torment tech from the Lantern of Arimor, blocking Delirium & Abyss (at least) can improve your overall scarab drops a bit.
A lot of players have said they *feel* like they get more t17 maps by not using Singular Focus. This isn't confirmed by GGG, but what ever is? You will get more trash t16 maps and fewer good t16 maps, but that's the tradeoff!
On the official poe wiki it sais: "This conversion ignores Singular Focus' restrictions." i dont know exactly what that means but just fyi, personally i think it only means that they can drop even with singular focus and not that t17 maps drop even if the map was marked to be converted to currency by singular focus.
would you block all scarabs if possible? or are there some that you wouldnt block?
Quick question - wouldnt the scarab with " 50% increased map drops" be better than 30% duplication? 50% increased map drops should be a seperate modifier and thus be equal to 50% more?

I don't think shaping the... Helps with T17, only with T16. I'm following somewhat empyrian atlas tree and he thinks singular focus is not worth it, what is you take about it?
@@rotony1 anecdotally, i felt singular focus reduces the number of T17 maps. My hypothesis is that since you drop less t16 maps overall, and all t16 has a 6.4% chance to change in t17, the total number of t17s will drop

Why not also block mechanics on the tree? If your goal is farming scarabs blocking mechanichs with bad scarabs also disables them from dropping, increasing your odds of getting the good scarabs.
To fit in more corpses. You can block Abyss and Deli at the minimum if you want to filter them out. Ritual and Legion aren't great, either.
One fun trick I do with this strat is running the atlas tree Intelligence Gathering (4 points). Although Betrayal can't spawn in the map, we can still get an effective Safehouse every 10 maps.
Quickly run the Safehouse 4 times along your farm and get a "free" Catarina fight. You can roll the Veiled Orb slot machine every 40 maps or so!

the bad thing with this is that as you dont do any missions the safehouse (and i belive the catarina even) is very low tier. bc the safehouse (and cata) monster level is determined by the avarage mission monsterlevel +10 and capped by the highest level. they might have changed that this league tho, we know anecdotally that low monsterlevel catarinas have less chance to drop orbs also
I wanna give a big thank you for this video.... I'm a completely new player this league and I tried a few strats with only a few hundred chaos in my stash and just couldn't make anything pop; once I started on this within 4 days I've prob accumulated about 300div or so if not a bit more and have all my gear nearly bis (minus some crazy upgrades); have my mageblood and most of my build completely sorted out. Would of taken a few weeks with the other strats I was looking at. Keep the videos going brother; they're very helpful.

@pathofevening, tried to run more then 100 maps with this strat but i think im doing something wrong even tho i copied ur atlas (except for 2 points that i still dont have) and doing same scarabs (cart,cart of dupe x2,hunted) but barly got any t17.

Chisel, alch, and vaal. You don't have to run only high-quant maps, but it helps. They will be better. Ultimately, it's RNG, you will have strings of good and bad luck.

Now about the map dropping system its an equity system:
So, in the same way that you vendor 3x t15 maps and get one t16, when you have 4 voidstones and all the maps in the atlas are t16, basically what happens is that if you drop 3x T15 maps they will convert into a t16. If you drop 9x T14 maps you will also get a t16 maps, etc.
Also all the different tiered maps will add up, i.e: if you drop one T15 and 6x T14 they will also convert into a t16. That's why is so good for t16 sustain and also for dropping t17 maps. If you initially were to drop a t15 and you have the +1 tier nodes in your atlas it will convert to t16 that could also, at the same time, be converted to t17. But without those atlas points that give you +1 to map tier you will need 3x t15 in the first place to drop a t16 and a chance to be converted to t17.

I have made about 30 maps and not any T17 has fallen on me. Are you using any Allflame? Which scarabs do you prioritize, the cartography scarabs?? thanks!
That's shockingly bad luck if you have all your Voidstones unlocked and socketed. You can use Allflames as map mods dictate, and we have been, but you they're not required.
As for Scarabs, you want 1 Hunted Traitors, and the rest Cartographer's. Carto of Duplication is by far the strongest, but the price can fluctuate, so you'll want to compare with regular Carto scarabs price-wise.
Just read your comment and have to agree with PathofEvening it is shockingly bad luck.
Tried the strat myself today and made in 20 maps around 6 divine profit only from selling T17 maps.
I havent tracked how many T17 maps I got during those 20 maps but I think it was around 9-11.
you get way more map if u run vaal temple + back to basic + twist of fate with dupe scrarab and map dupe node in atlas tree. I know we do back to basic but you can still take the strongbox node to buff vaal vessel box. With this set up when you drop a t17 you drop 4 most of the time. The only downside is your build must be able to do most map mod or u will brick your map.

@@Curtis234 just look at fubgun google doc, its the 8 mod farm tree. Instead of the 8 mod scarab i used duplication scarab and don't use singular focus, some people think you get less t17 with SF.

If the character can handle blue altar and clear super fast (mirror build), would you recommend dropping back to basics and go with blue altars?
Before this strat I always ran blue altars and it gives a lot of quant and can have % map duplicate drop which can go to 100%.
I'm not afraid of any blue altar mod.
It wasn't as consistently good in our testing. It may be more competitive if you use another mechanic that adds a ton of dudes like Harbingers, but without them, not likely.

Great guide, are T15 maps worth doing with 8 modifiers or even lower if they have good pack size and quantity? Also what maps are worth favouriting (you mentioned which ones are worth running but not sure if thats the same as what you should favourite). Thanks again for a great guide!
You can do them if you want, just to burn through them, but they do have a lower drop chance than t16's when it comes to farming t16 maps, so they are mostly a waste of time.
As for fave slots, you can favorite whatever you like. Usually that's the maps you're farming, but it doesn't have to be.

Regular maps will work. 8-mod maps will be better, but Back to Basics is a random roll between 0-80% more map mod effect, so you're better off just running a lot of maps and riding the RNG wave!
@Path do you think using a defiance amulet for survivorbility would be good? Not sure if I should get one because dying is a big problem in t17 and even t16 to some extent.
Playing same build as you granted on a much lower budget. (im around your level 95 update video item lvl)
It absolutely increases your survivability. You will sacrifice some damage to get that defense. How much damage you sacrifice depends on the neck you would be using otherwise, but it will make you extremely tanky!
What build are you using to run t17 maps? It is impossible to do it with my lightning arrow deadeye
I’ve seen several people running them with LA. I suspect the investment to do so though is high. Run Ubers as they’re a lot easier than T17s to build up currency?
TR PF for t17's. LA Deadeye works, but you will need some investment.

Not really, you can't Influence maps if you're B2B. You can do boss rushing, just not Maven.

FYI you can farm citadel by running Caer Blaidd on a super fast character. I got 6 T17’s in an hour by running 60 of that unique T16 map, which isn’t remarkable, but it is WAY easier than content that produces a lot of T17’s otherwise.
I bought the #60 for 3c each back when divines were around 170c. I don’t think anyone really picks up these maps anymore though.

I ran 20 maps with this exact same strat and the 1 traitors 2 duplications 1 cartography scarabs and got 0 t17 maps. Am I doing something wrong or just have been incredibly unlucky?
As long as you have all 4 Voidstones socketed, just very unlucky.

Nope, that mechanic was nerfed before this video was released, and that's okay. The Tormented Spirits mentioned can spawn from the Lantern mechanic, that is, the map mods you set before entering the map. They're not super common, so you don't have to take Torment nodes, but when they spawn, they tend to spawn dozens of spirits throughout a map, so it's a big payoff if you're invested.

As said in the video, the Lantern of Arimor still causes them to spawn from packs of monsters, and causes packs of monsters to be possessed/touched.

It's numerically weaker than either of the other two Carto Scarabs. It adds into the map equity system, which is not as good as getting 50% increased maps or 30% more maps.

u would technically get more consistent t17 drops, but no more dupes? I like the more consistent feel personally. i get annoyed when i play 10 maps and no drop, even if the next one gets me a dupe.

i did 20 maps with singular focus ON and didnt get a single t17, i then did 20 more without it and got 10 t17s. i ran 2x map dupe 1 normal carto and 1 traitors "like your video says" in both my tests. im not saying that singular focus makes it so that you cant get t17 but it sure did feel that way. i know 40 maps is a small sample size but i think singular focus doesnt allow t17s to drop.

i turned off SF and first 30 seconds got a t17 after farming them with it on for 6 hours and not a one... thank you for this
I think singular focus should reduce t17s. To get a t17 you need to get a t16 which then converts through the watchstone bonuses. Singular focus reduces the overall amount of T16s you get, thus reducing the number that get converted to t17.
It reduces the amount of T16s that drop, not the amount that you actually get.
It makes sense that it would impact the number of T17's, and anecdotally it does-or it might-but there's no official confirmation and no +10k map test to provide resounding confirmation either way. Getting fewer junk maps feels nice, but it makes sense to err on the side of caution and not run SF if you're purely trying to focus on farming T17 maps.

i did more then 3k maps on standard dont take SF if you wonna farm t 17. just use 2 carto 1carto up tier and hunted and speed run a map you can do 40 to 50 maps per h that way if you have fast build

Idk if it was just me but I did 40+ burial grounds and noticed how trash the mob density was and having to go through the tunnel corridor and clicks doors is just inconvenient I was doing these 8 modded too
Yeah, it's a layout that some older community members really like, but it's pretty tedious.
Burials layout and boss isn't best but overall native mob density is very high, 9/10 according to mapsofexile

Do you think tides of time actually is better than mageblood? Ive tested mb and cant seem to figure out how to get full uptime on my progen while in hideout. Even added like 8 tattoos of flask duration and still have like a 1.5 second cool down. And my progen is not a bad roll 20 percent reduced charges and 31 percent duration and really dont want to divine or corrupt a 100div flask in hopes to either hit 35 percent duration or higher qual
You need a near-perfect Progenesis to maintain 100% uptime with a MB. With Tides, it's very easy and you get 25% increased flask effect.
Tides is better for this specific purpose.
@@PathofEvening if youre crit you can get a watchers eye "gain flask charge on crit" for infinite sustain on flasks.

We snapped off 10 quick Jungle Valleys just to give a bit of real data, and got 9 t17's and 5 Fortunate cards in that time.
Your mileage absolutely will vary based on map mods, Back to Basics rolls, which map you're running, and good old RNG, but averaging about a t17 every 2-5 maps sounds right.
2-5 is a wide range, but so is the range between a well-rolled 8-mod map with a good B2B roll and a 4-mod map with a bad B2B roll. The difference between 150 IIQ & 55% pack size and 330% IIQ and 105% pack size is substantial, around 4 times as much stuff.
I did 40 map with this strat i get a total of 8, it depends on ur luck

They can and do. There is some discussion as to whether it reduces the amount, but nothing conclusive.

Has anyone tried this strat and had good luck? I was super hyped to try it out but after well over 50, 8 mop corrupted maps I am barely dropping any T17 maps. I can smash the maps (ele hit headhunter) very fast but it still feels like a sub 2 div per hour strat without any lucky drops. Literally emperian random strat seems to drop one T17 per 10 maps, I feel like I am closer to 1 in 25 and feel like I am going insane after hours of farming. How often are other people dropping T17's?
I just run 50 8 corrupted maps and dropped 4 T17 maps, definitly not worth the time.

@@PathofEvening There are people that drop mageblood on day one, and then there is me ;_; I legit would count 10 maps into my inventory and would get zero T17. I did however take a day break, watch your latest video, double check everything and got 8 T17 over 20 maps so I think it was just a very very bad luck streak, legit thought I was going insane

Singular focus is not supposed to affect T17 drops to my knowledge.
It definitely doesn't *prevent* them, but it maaaaybe affects them. It's unclear, there are so many different layers of RNG happening at once that it's really, really tough to tell if it's having an impact or not.

You can't use Extra Content or Influence Scarabs with Back to Basics.
Singular focus DOES AFFECT T17 DROPS. There is no natural t17 map drop. Maps drop as at most t16 then are converted to t17. Conversion happens before t16 drops. So without the t16 drop the t17 don't have a chance to exist. With ALL slots filled it is between 22 and 26% less t17 dropped(sample size it is still too small to say for sure but it seems to be 24.3%)

Could be either, but if you're using Cartography Scarabs of Duplication, that does work with T17's!

They are best used in conjunction with a Strongbox strategy using www.poewiki.net/wiki/Ambush_Scarab_of_Containment.
You will probably want to fish through maps until you get either the 50% More Pack Size bonus (green plus sign on the icon) on the top pack of the map or an increased pack size Lantern of Arimor bonus on the map (preferably both). The mobs only drop Chaos, Vaals, and Exalts, so you'd need to pick up around 300 Chaos to break even compared to selling it off. That's doable if you're forcing hundreds/thousands of them via strongboxes, but very difficult otherwise.
You'll also be signing up for hundreds or thousands of clicks. It's profitable, but painful!
As for corpses, yeah, 5 quad tabs is a lot. This league is something else.

u should get all Adjacent drops on the atlas because every more chance of dropping map means mroe chance to convert to t17 so this atlas you linked isnt quite as good to get most t17s!
Probably better to just drop Singular Focus in that case.
If you're talking about taking every single small map drop chance travel node, that's only one more map drop per map, not really a huge addition for the substantial point cost.

So what is profits
There are several layers of RNG, between the Lantern of Arimor and Back to Basics 0-80% rolls, as well as the disparity between 4-mod and 8-mod maps. Any real number would be misleading without a sample size of thousands of maps.
For example: We just farmed 9 T17's, 5 Fortunate cards, and a Div Scarab of Curation in the last ten Jungle Valley maps, which took under 2 minutes on average.
That's around 15 Divines in 20 minutes. Based on that, is it fair to say this strat makes 45 Divines per hour? Absolutely not!
But it is good!

I'm not sure i can recomend this strat. i've ran 10+ 8-mod maps (with average 250% quant) and got only 1 T17 map
i've ran 20+ maps with 150% quant and got 0 T17 maps
I spend more on those maps (20c per map), then i got from them
For comparison - ive earned on average 100c per map with alva
RNG giveth and RNG taketh!

To answer your question: Yes. Strand's cards are pretty bad, and Dunes drops The Fortunate, which is worth 1/6 of a Divine Orb and drops pretty frequently.

I literally have no loot with back2basic compared to juiced eater altar/delirium farming the same content: scarabs/corpses. Even with 100% pack size the map is empty compared to delirium+altars+shrines etc.
Sounds like something is going wrong, or just RNG

Torment still spawns in maps at times due to Unrelenting Torment spawning ghosts around the boss, and the Lantern of Arimor sometimes giving monster packs Possessed/Touched or 'release a Tormented Spirit on death.'
These bonuses both still apply to maps even while using B2B.

I've been able to confirm that Singular focus does in fact reduce your t17 map drops.
Testing method: Singular focus enabled, 0 favorited maps selected.
Results: 0 t17 maps dropped after running 30 t16 maps.
Conclusion: With Singular Focus allocated, non-favorited maps are converted to currency items before they have a chance to be converted to t17 maps.

I got very underwhelming results and do not recommend the strat. Unless GGG changes something, after allflames gone there is no additional incentive to go for this strat. Having mechanics seem to add enough to overall pack size to drop 17th sometimes along with the stable farm.

You're welcome to try an Eater setup and compare, but it was consistently weaker in our testing, and Eater minions suck. You don't actually get map duplication altars all that often while running Eater.
