100 Greatest Movie Quotes of All Time

- čas přidán 26. 09. 2012
- This is my version of 100 greatest movie quotes of all time. Some have appeared on official lists while others are completely my opinion. if you don't like it then don't comment. I know there's plenty of other great quotes out there but obviously it was hard to narrow down 100 and there's still lots of movies i have yet to see.
None of the quotes are really in order, but 1 - 30 are probably more of my favorite ones
All of the movies in this video do not belong to me. - Zábava
"Leave the gun, take the cannoli"
Yep, this one should be number one
great line
Should have been named “my favorite” not the greatest..
Yeah, and I see they kind of say that it's their favs. Wonder how long a video would be if someone collected all the suggestions here into one? That'd be amazing.
The description says it’s his top pick, everything is subjective
There's no such thing as "the greatest" as everything is subjective. Why let it bother you?... lol
I think that, at the end of the day, every "greatest" list is really a "my favorites" list. I enjoyed this one, but it's no more significant than the Rolling Stone "100 Greatest Rock Songs of All Time." People disagree... but this wasn't a bad selection (though a bit heavy on the gangster/tough guy genre. :) )
Yes...
Imagine having 2 scarface quotes and neither of them being “say hello to my little friend”
Ridiculous
yup what a joke
Dickheads
Right? This list blows.
And an Apocalypse Now quote and it's not "I love the smell of napalm in the morning." Fun list, but lots of odd choices.
I'll be back
I'll make him an offer he cant refuse
Yo Adrian, I did it
I ate his liver with some fava beans and a nice Chianti
It really tied the room together
We all go a little mad sometimes
Funny how?
Coffee is for closers
Rosebud
It was beauty that killed the beast
He gets the title shot at the ball park and I get a one way ticket to palookaville
Is it safe
1. "No, I am your father" (Empire Strikes Back)
2. "Gonna make him an offer he can't refuse" (The Godfather)
3. "I'll be back" (Terminator)
4. "Get busy living or get busy dying" (The Shawshank Redemption)
5. "Awful tired now boss" (The Green Mile)
6. " Louis, I think this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship." And "Here's looking at you kid" (Casablanca)
7. "There's no place like home" (The Wizard of Oz)
8. "Choose life" (Trainspotting)
"Adrian!!" (Rocky)
9. "That's why I like High School girls man. I get older, they stay the same age." (Dazed and Confused)
10. "Was beauty that killed the beast" (King Kong, 1933)
11. "They put one of yours in the hospital, you put one of theirs in the morgue!" (Untouchables)
12. "I'm King of the world!" (Titanic)
13. "If you build it, he will come
" (Field of Dreams)
14. "As far back as I can remember, I always wanted to be a gangster." (Goodfellas)
15. " Feed me Seymour, feed me!" (The little Shop of Horrors)
16. "It's a 106 miles to Chicago. We got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we are wearing sunglasses....hit it!" (Blues Brothers)
17. "Live moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it." (Ferris Bueller's Day Off)
You missed frankly my dear I don’t give a damn
Great list. I’d add, ‘Sometimes nothing is a real cool hand.’ Cool Hand Luke.
Also, ‘Aww, Come on! Stop beating it. Get out there yourself. Stop feeding off of me!’ Same film.
‘That’s my darling Luke. He grin like a baby, but bites like a ‘gator.’ Same film.
‘Calling it your job don’t make it right boss.’ Same film.
And, ‘Cool Hand Luke; hell, he’s a natural born world shaker.’
hell yeah bro...shit ...YOU should have made this video
@@jonorr4799 I think I'd also add "Get off my lawn" Gran Torino, "Toto, I don't think we are in Kansas anymore." Wizard of OZ
Yeah, your list is ten times better than this piece of shit list.
"I love the smell of Napalm in the morning."
Smells like... Victory
“Calling somebody a murder here is like giving out spreading tickets at the Indy 500”

“Charlie don’t surf”
@@kellyweingart3692 That's a good one. What about -"I told you not to stop".

Frederick Speller because that is not the real quote
@@BradleyHauge "No. I am your father."
Luke
The twist was legendary, but the line isn't much
Frederick Speller “no. i am your father” is the actual quote
"Ma, the meatloaf!" - The Wedding Crashers. Not Old School, Owen Wilson isn't even in Old School.
how can "I'm Gonna make him an offer he can't refuse." not crack the top 100?
Coppola offered him $10,000 to include the line in the video... but he refused.
I was looking for it.
Take the gun
Leave the canolis
How that got passed on I'll never know.
Exactly what I was thinking.
'I love the smell of napalm in the morning." - Is the best line in that movie
"You're a wizard, Harry."
"I'm a what?"
Cadon Strain Don't forget LeviOsa, not LeviosA, and
"Always". Oops, sorry, I think I just broke a millions hearts.
No Godfather?
No Blues Brothers?
No Stripes?
No Ghostbusters?
No Rocky I?
No Star Wars a New Hope?
No Raiders of the Lost Ark?
No Wizard of Oz?
Scarface: Say Hello to My Little Friend?
Blues Brothers! Definitely BLUES BROTHERS, from the first to the very last second! Actually I think I could prompt the dialogues there :) My favourite: I hate Illinois nazis!
No Ballerina?
They had Godfather II quote.
J Fingers Music they didn’t have Ballerina (2016) quotes, it’s a great movie, everyone should see it. It changed my life. example. “If you never leap, you never know what it’s like to fly”, “You have something she can only dream of”, “I’m going to be everything I want to be”, etc. Here’s another good one. “On the good side, you have the energy of a bullet. But you also have the lightness of a depressed elephant.”
M8 there was scarface
No "Say Hello to my little friend!" No "Ill be back"?
or I am your father

But doctor...I AM PAGLIACCI...
@@onetwo57627 wrong movie bruh
not a single line from pulp fiction?
That's cause every line in the movie is fucking great!
thinking the same thing
I know! Every character would've won their spot here:
-Mhmmm... This IS a tasty burger - Jules
-Don't you hate that? Uncombortable silences - Mia Wallace
-I'm goin' medieval on yo' ass - Marsellus Wallace
-You know how they call a Quarter Pounder With Cheese in Paris? Royale with Cheese. - Vincent
-Zed's Dead baby, Zed's dead - Butch
-Everybody be cool this is a robbery! If any of you fucking pricks MOVE, I'm gon' execute every motherfucking last one of ya' - Pumpkin and Honeybunny
-Let's not start sucking each other's dicks quite yet - Winston Wolf.
But the cherry on top of the cake:
-The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he, who in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of darkness, for he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who would attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know my name is the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon thee. - Jules Winnfield
or the gladiator..
Mia's line about the food being there when you come back from the bathroom. One of life's rare gifts. 😏
Hey, buddy, there's a hell of a difference between "the greatest" and "my favourite". In your case, the difference is galactic.
Fackin' Yuge (Thick Boston Accent) Come On The Boondock Saints Movies are One Liner Treasure Troves
perhaps he should have consulted you before he compiled his list.
@@splitpitch Perhaps you should try to understand what is being said before providing an irrelevant comment.
@@pathfinder1273I understood alright. You don't like his choice of what is the 'greatest' so you criticise the choices. You do not know how he arrived at those choices. No questions asked, just started in with your trolling! However he did it, it was his choice. You didn't even acknowledge the editing work that went into the clip. No, your 'favourites' weren't there, so time to troll. My favourite wasn't there either, but like I wrote- his choice, not mine.
No, you didn't understand. You just jumped to a conclusion, nothing more. Go back and read what I wrote. Sit and think about it for, oh, I don't know, a year or two might be enough for you. My meaning was abundantly clear. Quite a few of my favourites were there, but that is irrelevant to the point I was making. Come on, I'm sure you can do it.
"Badges? We Dont Need No Stinkin Badges!" Blazing Saddles from Treasure of the Sierra Madre
great line and movies.
Never said it like that. It was "we don't need no badges... I don't got to show you no stinking badges...."
Yes NJ Eddie; Probably the most misquoted line in Movie History AND I CANNOT believe it did not make this hamster's list!
There were like 100 better lines from blazing saddles than the one shown.
“Where’s the white women”
"Frankly my dear, I don't give damn."
Nice ending
MHS032 not actually the ending I think.
You're right, it was the best...
People say all the time about that clip "why is this a big deal?" That cursing at the end what completely unheard of at the time in films,i cant remember if it was the first time in a big film like that,or if it was just the fact it ended in that manner towards a woman. Due to the time period cursing in front of women was still a really looked down upon thing at the time.
@@juliewake4585 it's not the last line, the last line is said by Scarllett, "After all, tomorrow is another day"
@Allen Roth I thought I was the only one who thought it was released in '39. I thought maybe I was wrong. I guess not. Because I remembered either Wizard of Oz or Gone With The Wind beat the other one out for Movie of the Year. I can't remember though which one beat out the other.
These are 100 movie quotes.
Exactly what I was thinking. Half of them are just random lines.
Patrick Boyd yess
Lots of famous ones left out. Also seems to like a swear word in his quotes!
Well it is after all only his opinion and not that of a professional film critic like Mark Kermode
#1 "Do you like apples?? Well, I got her numba....How you like them apples?!"
The fact that the words “You’re only supposed to blow the bluddy doors off!” Never appears here is a crime against humanity
Hey, #56 is from Wedding Crashers. NOT OLD SCHOOL!
RyGuylegos EXACTLY
RyGuylegos was bugging me too glad someone brought it up
the important part is Movie Quotes of ALL TIME. Not movie quotes before 2003?
By the way: Old School had a famous quote. "Were going streaking through the quad to the gymnasium!" Will Ferrell
This made me mad
Conan, what is best in life ?
"To crush your enemies, to see them driven before you, and to hear the lamentations of their women. "
The prayer to Cromm was also awesome
" Who ever saves one life saves the world entire." { great quote]
The Circumstances of one's birth are irrelevant. It's what you do with the gift of life that determines who you are.
"Thats a real badge, I'm a real cop, and this is a real fucking gun" -----Riggs.

"Just been revoked"
'I don't think we're in Kansas anymore'
'I am your father'
'i'll be back'

NO "Napalm in the morning", "Yo Adrian", "Get to da Choppa", "I am your father", "They're heeere", "Everybody goes a little crazy sometimes", "What, am I a clown?", "Kneel to Zod!", "There goes the neighborhood".

A really good list and no argument with #1 of course, but you gotta add
“ Houston, we have a problem”
“I’ll be back”
“Luke, I am your Father”
Donald Culp Except he didn’t say ”Luke”
Picky
@@donaldculp3759 not picky, just be accurate. Actually that's not even a good quote.
@@poshboy111 And in real life, Jim Lovell didn't say "Houston, we have a problem", so I have to disqualify that one for being inaccurate in the movie.
@@patrickmorgan4006 This is about the best movie quotes of all time...that movie wasn't trying to say it was 100% accurate. That's like excluding "You shall not pass" because it was "You cannot pass" in the books.

"I'll be back"
"say hello to my little friend "
"houston we have a problem"
"I'm gonna make him an offer he can't refuse"
Don't you remember them buddy?
"No, I am your father" is by far one of the most iconic movie quotes of all time because it was so unexpected. Yet it somehow didn't make this list.
My father taught me many things here. He taught me, keep your friends close. But your enemies closer.
my father left for cigarettes 27 years ago,, I wonder if he ever got them
"Gimme a Diablo Sandwich and a Docta Peppa."- Jackie Gleason: Smokey & the Bandit
"I'm your huckleberry" not being on this list is a travesty
It's HIS list, not the definitive list. People really have to read the descriptions. That quote would certainly make my list of favorites, but maybe he didn't see the movie to just didn't like it. There were several more that would probably make a definitive list. "Top of the world Ma!" James Cagney in White Heat, and "Rosebud" from Orson Welles in Citizen Kane would be just two very famous, make that iconic quotes that would be on a definitive list but were not on this one.
Toto, I don't think we're in Kansas anymore.

Yes, I also wondered why ":Click your heels three times and say 'There's no place like home'." wasn't on the list. And several from Princess Bride could be on the list instead of others, like "You fell victim to one of the classic blunders...."
Entirely too much Adam Sandler in this
clara blossom
Adam Sandler's success confounds me. I'm pretty sure the folks who run Hollywood (You know who the are) use Sandler as a litmas test to see just how dumb they can go and still sell tickets!

sandler has NEVER been in a great movie ....so it only follows he could NOT have a great movie quote
I agree. The goofy bastard isn't funny and never has been.
“Badges? We don’t need no stinking badges!”
I liked that you made it clear that this is your list, not the definitive list. No two people are going to have the same 100. Mine would definitely be different, but you had a lot that would be on my list also.
"Like the smell of Napalm in the morning" Apocalypse Now
I'll be back is the most iconic movie quotation of all time because it literally was the premise of the the entire movie franchise which jumpstarted Arnold's legendary career.
He did come back back, as the terminator, and in general, for 30 + years.

Top of the world ma! James Cagney in White Heat
"stuffy ha?.. i'll give you a little air..."
The Great Dictator should have had the whole monologue as the number one. Timing is everything.

""We all go a little mad sometimes" Anthony Perkins, Psycho"
Billy Loomis (1990)
I watched the whole thing and mentally picked out what was #1 to me--and you agreed. Well done!
Greatest movie quotes and the ones people remember forever. Many of yours were forgotten the moment people left the theater.
Just watched Casablanca and Gone With the Wind for the first time yesterday (Long day, I know) and the "Frankly, my dear, I don't give a damn" line floored me.
Dumb list, how is Billy Madison on here twice and Wizard of Oz not on here.

The truest indicators of a top flight movie quote is 1) the brevity of the quote, 2) the continued use of the quote in every day life, 3) the recognition of the movie from where the quote comes, 4) the recognition of the actor/actress who made the quote. So, "I'll be back", "Go ahead, make my day", "Rosebud", "You're gonna need a bigger boat", "Houston, we've had a problem here" (though this is often misquoted as "Houston, we've got a problem"), "Stella!", "I'm gonna make him an offer he can't refuse", "Frankly, my dear, I don't give a damn", "Here's Johnny!", and "What we've got here is failure to communicate".
maybe we can include "ground hog day" which is just the film title .but its been used lots of times in peoples every day speech. tho it is a bit of a streach . Shame as its such a great film !!
