Ladder mate isn't even something you have to learn. When I first started chess at around 700, the only mates I got were ladder mates. I didn't *learn* them from anywhere, they're just... intuitive
When i learnt the rules of the game, i tried to think of mates, literally the first one i thought about was ladder mate, its the most intuitive mate, and to think he was trained by hikaru

It's pretty intuitive that the king is safer in the corner behind some pawns than in the open center of the board. It's intuitive that developing pieces is better than moving your rook from H1 to G1 back and forth. Also positional play is mostly done by intuition. Do you really think that GMs don't use any intuition while playing Bullet? I dunno I can give you many more examples.

What is a good chess player really depends on the perspective. Chess masters are trash from the perspective of Hikaru Nakamura and other top chess players. I am rated 1800 rapid, 1600 blitz on this site. Whether that rating is good or not depends only on who I am comparing myself with

One of the tips of playing chess is playing it calmly. I am guessing he is stressed so he play badly. Chess is supposed to be peaceful to play and if you see that you're playing bad moves you should stop playing it and play it later then you'll see you got better than before

Now at 16, nearly 17 years old I picked it up again, and in 4 months I’ve grown to like 1200 FIDE elo (like 1500 on chess.com). (If u want I could try to help your progress btw, Ion rlly have anything better to do anyway) either way, sometimes you just need an eye-opener for some principles of chess is what I noticed

Not like I’m bad at chess, I’ve just never played other than on the TV without those direction things that help you, I don’t really know what pieces can move where and what things and moves you can do and how matches can play out but I feel like XQC was trying, so makes me feel better knowing someone could get destroyed so much while being able to see the directions and places you can move
