- How did the British empire become so big? We show you how and why in a comedical yet educational matter in Captain History presents: The Rise of the British Empire. How was the British Empire created is the question we will be answering in this short animated History video!
The British began to establish overseas colonies in the 16th century. By 1783, Britain had a large empire with colonies in America and the West Indies. ... However, in the 19th century, the British built a second worldwide empire, based on British sea-power, made up of India and huge conquests in Africa. At its height, it was the largest empire in history and, for over a century, was the foremost global power. The start date should be the 1490s, while other historians date the empire from the early 1600s. The end of the empire came in the years after World War 2, with most of Britain's colonies ruling themselves independently by the late 1960s.

Some of your sound effects are too loud
Other than that your production quality is very good
Seconded! But I bet a simple compressor on the master audio track would probably fix it
i liked this this helped me
Do the story of the Batavia next, one of the worst maratime disasters in Australia
Imagine waiting two more hours and the video doesn't start 😳😳😳
good video
You are good bro.
50k wow :))

Just a correction: In Battle of Plassy only 5000 troops of Siraj official where fighting among 50,000 troops while others where just waiting for the king to be killed by Britain. After minor war with Britiany the king argued for the reason of being neutral in the battle field but all of his officials showed him an evil eye and fearing for assassination the king fled but was later assassinated, the only loyal soldiers were the French.

India China and Abrabia had the brightest minds . Plus the size how did they fall behind ?? Britain was such a small area too yet it some how became so powerful.
Overpopulation makes you think , but no
Ships, artillery, law and order, trains
That mattered more
UAE, Qatar were lucky to be English, otherwise middle east is entirely a mess
I'M BRITISH AND OUR EMPIRE WILL RISE SOMEDAY ......
AND WHICH COUNTRY ISN'T GREEDY
Lol. With what?
It never set
English literature and music is everywhere

Dababy is that you!?
5:07 just waiting for someone to complain about the borders 💀💀
Though often portrayed as such Empire building at its core is not really about greed it is more so about civilisational survival. You could argue that greed certainly plays its part for invested individuals but at its core empire building is about obtaining and securing the strength to survive in a hostile and violent world of various other conquering kingdoms and empires.
It may have been shit for alot of country's to be ruled over but empires rise and fall but because of the British Empire I live in the greatest country in the world I'm greatful to be part of the Commonwealth and im greatful my friends and family can live in peace
What country is that?
I’ve been sent by the meme page
The British Empire was not driven by love for money, land and resources, far less than Asian, African etc...empires. It was inter European competition which drove British conquests.
And now football ⚽ and tennis
You missed out all details on the Anglo-Burmese War
This deserves to have the same views as oversimplified's views
The seven years war was nine years long. That was because Britain and France were fighting proxy wars between each other in their colonies, after 2 years of that got mixed with the 16 year Silesian Wars thats when the big war started
The seven years war, actually lasted for 9 years.
1:07 He said 1947 but showed 1497 ! 😕🤔🤔
I was about to write the same comment, but I see you already have.
Bro British won battle of Plassey because of treachery of Mughal general Mir jafar . Correct the facts mate
Because I told them a secret.
You skipped the napoleonic Wars
0:45 😂😂😂
You said 1947 trying to read 1497?
What if the king shifted to America and declared New York the capital of Britian ?
Then USA would have more English architecture
Yes.
Did anyone noticed that he said 1947 instead of 1497🤫
By treachery in india also in many parts of world
Treachery? Bullshit. Indian powers were even more treacherous than the Europeans. The British won because they were better at soldiering.
Keep crying
Never forget you were obsessed with cricket since 1983
And still use colonial trains and obviously built more with increase in population
And still use English schools
Wait, those are the best schools
And parliament in Delhi
Yaaaas queen
In 1947 he said 1:05. He meant 1495!! 🤣🤣🤣
This was going to be great for my learners...until the swearing ruined it - what a shame. It wasn't even needed either.
Definitely something we will address and change!
This video is flawed, British conquest of Bengal took place during the 7 years war.
Imagine not following me back 🥺
Imagine begging
@@idontnowhowtodraw4916 Imagine just asking to imagine not following me back

The video had started out rough but some what educational. After three minutes or so, it was completely unwatchable.
There not greedy there are very greedy
Smh the seven years war lasted nine years actually
So much real history left out for the sake of 7th grade school rubbish
You said 1947 instead of 1497. If you were high at the time all good
he said 1947 but said 1497* with an asterix. meaning he corrected himself
Your type of humor is not my thing
It's way OVER simplified .
.
All empires are expressions of INEQUALITY hiding behind a MASK of community
London went to war on the continent twice, by own admission, to "balance powers" on the continent...
London's standpoint, *by own admission:*
"The equilibrium established by such a grouping of forces is technically known as the balance of power, and it has become almost an historical truism to identify England’s secular policy with the maintenance of this balance by throwing her weight now in this scale and now in that, but ever on the side, opposed to the political dictatorship of the strongest single, State or group at a given time."
Primary source material:
[Memorandum_on_the_Present_State_of_British_Relations_with_France_and_Germany]
*In a nutshell = the strongest side is the default rival in peace, and the default enemy in war.*
And so the London lords played their "balancing games".
From: The Complete Yes Minister:
*"Britain has had the same foreign policy objective for at least five hundred years - to create a disunited Europe.*
*How absolutely funny...*
They gave their diplomatic worst, were proud if it, and millions of young men from the Empire paid the price. Huddled in muddy trenches, getting their heads blown off, or drowning like rats on the seven seas.
That's what you get if you play follow the leader, when these leaders play *"divide and rule"* with the continent, for own gain.
Millions dead.
Millions mutilated.
Too bad.
So sad.
Price tag for these stupid "games"? *A ruined British Empire.*
Good riddance.
Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.
They "hopped on the scale" and they "hopped" their way into extinction...
Menuda kk tio
What's with the unnecessary cussing?
er just not accurate
you need to stop tryna be funny
Terrible.
Always noob theives
nonsense content
