  • This is mostly my take on the MD3 reticle (which I happen to like a lot) and some extra commentary on the scope itself.
    I start out with some general thoughts.
    My take on the reticle starts at around 55 seconds.
    At around 6:50 you get some final thoughts on the scope itself.

    Just found your videos. I’m from Toronto Canada. And prices are pretty high here as our dollar is crap.
    I just bought this Vudo off a friend in like new condition. I find it to be built like a tank and very good quality.
    I don’t think I will sell it. And yes. I hate busy reticles like the Horus 59. This one is Simple.
    I plan to buy another scope soon. Looking at maybe the s&b pm2, Minox zp5, Zc527. Hoping to find a good deal on one.
    Enjoy your videos. Subbed.

    Personally very interested in the new Burris laser scopes, Sig BDX and anything similar - seems like the wave of the future IMO

      I have played with older Laserscopes from Burris and like them. The latest one is definitely better, but it is an evolution of the same concept. BDX is the same thing but with an external LRF. From a technology standpoint, the next step will be more interesting. I might look at what we have now as time allows, but I am not terribly motivated yet.

    Your opinion, I have $1500 to spend on a scope for shooting 1k yrds on a 6.5CM and my long range AR? I would like it to us, Japan, Europe made where would you point me? @darklordofoptics
    Love the vids and the knowledge you pass on thank you!

      Have a look at the Delta Stryker, its awesome. I have the 4.5-30x56 with the DLR ret.

      That kinda depends on how big of a scope you are willing to use and which reticles you like. Delta Stryker 4.5-30x56 and Element Nexus 5-20x50 should be on your list. Vudu 5-25x50 if you like short designs or plan to use a clip-on.

    Why would you prefer a 4-20 power rather than having more power available

    • @DarkLordOfOptics
      @DarkLordOfOptics  Před 3 lety +1

      For several reasons, the biggest one being that with this particular design, optical quality falls off a bit above 20x. Truthfully, it is hard to do a very short scope with high magnification. It is possible, but difficult and especially difficult on a budget. Lower magnification, on the other hand is very useful for shooting offhand and for indoor dry practice. For the way I shoot, in a scope of this type, a 4-20x is arguably a better fit than a 5-25x. I have plenty of high magnification scopes and aside from shooting groups at comparatively close distances, I very seldom use high magnification. With short and compact designs, if you want high magnification, you have to step up in price a bit with March 4.5-28x52 arguably being the best available.

    Is the CA a little bit off or is the camera to blame? Great video Ilya!

    • @DarkLordOfOptics
      @DarkLordOfOptics  Před 4 lety +2

      Probably a little of both. This scope does have CA that is pretty clear above 20x. That is one of the compromises of making a scope this short.

      @@DarkLordOfOptics Thank you for clearing that up, your videos are super helpful and a brilliant resource for people like me who haven't got any where to inspect or look through optics before throwing down lumps of cash... Well done mate!

    Have you gotten your hands on a vortex razor amg 6-24? I'd love to see your review on it

    • @DarkLordOfOptics
      @DarkLordOfOptics  Před 2 lety

      I had one for several years and used it in several reviews. I really like the scope, but given that it has sorta been discontinued, if you want one, you should move fast on that.

      @@DarkLordOfOptics thanks! how does it compare with the other big players below $2500? Especially the mark 5

    • @DarkLordOfOptics
      @DarkLordOfOptics  Před 2 lety

      @@grantb555 It is very competitive, but it is not an apples to apples comparison due to different configuration. This is where the objective diameter sorta makes a difference, especially on high power.

    What are you filming through your scope with?

    • @DarkLordOfOptics
      @DarkLordOfOptics  Před 4 lety +3

      I have a separate camera set up behind the scope. In this case Z-cam E1

    This or SKMR? who has better glass, this or Kahles? I am enjoying your videos a lot. Please do some binocular videos too

    • @DarkLordOfOptics
      @DarkLordOfOptics  Před 4 lety

      Kahles is better optically, but a lot more expensive too.
