Also, the first devlog is out! Go check it out
This seems like a lot of progress for a devlog 0. I've been thinking about trying to make a 3D open world survival game and I don't know whether seeing this devlog has scared me about how much there is to do or inspired me to get started
Well if nobody else gives you the push to give it a go... TAKE A CHANCE AND GO FOR IT! Keep a big picture of the Final Game in your head, but don't rush the process. Break down each system into easy enough to understand chunks and take it step by step. I've been learning more and more as I go and I realized you sometimes just need to be okay with the level you're at and work on what you can until the breakthrough reveals itself naturally. Then one day you wake up and realize that HUGE Mountain of a System you wanted to make in the first place was made up of a bunch of cute lil Rock Solid Components. Now you've got a cool game and one hell of a journey to remember
JUST DO IT!
L3GITEnt has already said it very well in my opinion :)
I agree, I also believe that breaking down a highly ambitious project into numerous small work packages yields the best effect
HOW IN THE FLOOPERDY DOODLE DID YOU MAKE THAT INTERACTIVE FOG ON THE GROUND
Heightmap like terrain, look for grass and snow shader
I'm using a fluid simulator for this effect. Changed a lot of settings and parameters so it acts like fog and not fluids
@@anbagames Thank you! Did you use Fluxy by any chance? Because I found that one, and I heard it was pretty good :)
@@SimlokGameslooks similar to fluid ninja.
What in the oppression does flooperdy doodle mean?
This looks amazing! Can’t wait to see all the game progress over time
Incredible! Already making great progress and this concept looks super fun. Good luck, can't wait for more
Dream games hardly any releases, but I wish you luck and passion to complete your dream project

Big hype🎉 looking forward to the next devlog
Looks like a good start! I'll keep an eye out for updates. Good luck and a lot of fun with the development!
I'm anxious for an update. 99% of indies are 2D or shooters, glad to see an action game. I started my journey about 3 months ago, I'm first concentrated just on modeling now, I will open a channel when have more to show.
Love this. I’ll be following along!!
Still on devlog 0 and you've made this much progress. Keep it up man, can't wait to try it out!
it looks fun! i'm looking forward to the next devlog
Looking forward to it. Keep up a good work!

Looks amazing - love your ideas 👍
I'm excited to watch you along the way!

Hey! Looks rly good, just leaving a comment for that algorithm boost! gl with the game
I really like the look of this nice work
Looks great - good luck!
Great job. Keep doing!
hey man good luck on your project
LEZ GO SIR ! WAITING FOR MORE CONTENT
Congrats and All the best!
i have been trying to learn game dev to make a game that sounds super similar to this project, i find it kinda funny to see someone clearly inspired by the same games and aspects as me. im excited to see where this project goes and how your ideas shape up good luck :)
Thank you very much! It's never too late to start a project like this :)
Awesome bro, keep up the grind. Can't wait to see more🤟🤟
Thanks man, glad you liked it!
Very inspiring, it sounds good to me
Good luck dude!
Loving the "World won't be gigantic" part of the open world. Some of the stuff talked about here are very technical (like combat systems, combos), but this idea is a great hook for me :)
Best of luck on the project!
Thank you! Yeah, a game like that is already huge. A gigantic open world would be too large for a solo developer.
Nice. I am also making a zelda like. Aparently many are going this route. Is a truly inspiration. Good work with you project. Sounds nice
Looks great!
Yeeees, can't wait to see more
I feel like this is the start of a legendary game. Only time will tell...
Super legendary
Aww, thanks man
This looks is fucking incredible
Tolles Video! Ich bin schon gespannt wie es weiter geht 🎮
Vielen Dank :) Ich auch! :D
Good luck on building your dream game 💪
BRO! THE WATER LOOKS AMAZING!!!!
Hope it goes well
Nice. Dreaming to ditch my job and start out on a similar adventure as well. Love that there are people who feel the same :)
AWESOME KEEP IT UP
Seems very fun
Hey dude, looks great, keep it up!
Finding the perfect controls for the game is indeed a challenging task. I can relate since I am now struggling with the same :D
Looking forward for the next devlog
Hey, thank you very much! Yeah, definitely - and especially when it comes to the character controller and controls, one should definitely not skimp on investing enough time - it saves so much time in the later process!
Your channel also looks very interesting, will definitely check it out :)
Thanks :D
I hope you're consistent with your project. In my experience keeping motivated to finish a project is very hard, my wish is that you completed your game in whatever state it is either early access or complete best of luck

Hehe, I hope so too! I worked consistently on my last game over a longer period of time. Devlogs definitely help to stay motivated, especially when the response is very positive :)
good luck man, i recently started learning game desing as well! the pillar system is a really good idea taht i will implement as well!
Sounds like a great plan, good luck!
Looks great :)
Awesome stuff man, lots of progress for your first devlog. You have a lot of talent and I think your process is solid, especially with the experience you have. Some unsolicited advice (because I learned this myself), is be careful how much you lean on your inspirations. Its always a good starting point. But you will need to figure out how your game differentiates itself from Zelda game design concepts. What is going to make your game special? Rather than trying to make a Zelda copy-cat. Because ALOT of people are trying to do the same thing you are right now. If you want it to be successful and to stand on its own, explore that ideology as you continue to develop. Stoked to see how this turns out man!
I loved some aspects you are using here, the smoke and refraction on water, the underwater is something i was talking with my brother today: ''hey the new zelda is adding verticality like floating lands and caves with dungeons but not deep dive water''
So you surprised me,you are making great things here. i cant wait to see more
my sugestions:craft, survival elements and coop are great things... coop is something i wish to have on zelda botw and totk, i love the elements colors and shadings and cellshade style we have on botw..i am also developing an game but it is on unreal,im still learning all the basics stuffs
Have an great week and sucess on your game,i will be following here on channel.
Looks promising
Waiting
Yoo this looks so cool
goodluck!
i'm actaully just about to start work on my first game and this has inspired me even more
That makes me happy. I wish you good luck and joy on your gamedev journey! :)
@@anbagames thanks for the support and I hope your game goes well to :)
1:45 is prime for a bonk meme gif
*bonk*
man if you finish this game with all the mechanics you want to have in it. This is going to be insane! for the glider, maybe something like the hoverboard the green goblin uses in spider man 😅
If you sadly don't finish it, well I'm sure you'd have learnt a lot from the experience.
New sub, definitely gonna be following this
Thanks for the encouraging comment! Hoverboard does sound fun indeed :) Let's see what unfolds!
Blud is making my dream game
keep it up man incarnate that vision you have into reality and let humanity feast upon it for what it becomes, what else you gonna do!?!?!?!
Epic 🔥
a elemental system is always a good addition^^
Welcome to Starforge 2.0
Will believe it after full release not before.
. We need games creation teams, lets make :)
cool ❣
Thats good man i likes It
looks promising
Nice
good luck and make it modding friendly
modding is always a plus in any game
Thank you! That would be awesome, of course! I haven't delved into the topic of modding support so far, but I will take a closer look at it.
Tears Of The Kingdom also wasn't the first game or story to have a city in the sky. So, don't worry about what others have done and make YOUR vision a reality. :) This sounds extremely interesting. I love open world games such as what you're describing. I will be following your journey. :)
Thank you, I'm really glad to hear that!
And yes, you're right about the other games. The devlog came out just shortly before TOTK, so I thought that needed to be said :D
I hope you will survive the dream game open world trial of devlog death.
Imagine asking when the game will be finished on devblog #0
looks amazing man i wanna make a dev log too ive taken alot of footage for my game and have alot done but im just nervous on using my voice and editing video haha
Looks amazing
Its funny that I am currently starting my own Game Dev journey and also wanted to do a game where the main land is a flying island... xD
Hehe, sounds like a great game! 8)
And thank you!
Mal sehen wohin die Reise geht ^_^
Great Devlog!
Are going into detail in the devlogs on how your mechanics work? Like the climbing - is it procedural or with fixed points? I would love to hear how you tackel stuff like climbing, movement, combat, etc.
Are you giving an insight on what assets you are using?
Thank you! :)
The next devlogs will definitely be more technical and focused on a few topics. There's definitely more to come regarding the movement and combat system! Currently, climbing is achieved using raycasts, taking into account the character's viewing angle in relation to the wall, the height of the target platform, and whether there's enough space for climbing. So, no fixed points :)
Make it so if you beat the games main story or main quests make unlockable side quests and boss fights that pay good rewards based on performance
Having raw build with simple place holder is not easy job. But worth trying out the good game play and combat which is important before moving forward.
Definitely! Gameplay should always be prioritized
This looks great! Definitely will be following. Could you tell me where you found out how to make that responsive ground fog/smoke effect that parts when the player runs through it? I can't find a tutorial for that kind of thing anywhere!
Thank you! :)
I'm using a 2.5D fluid simulator called FluXY. It's a paid asset that that lets you create and customize fluid (and smoke) simulations inside the game engine
Looks promising! Clear goals and direction. What software do you make 3d model there?
Hey, thanks a lot! I'm using Blender for all my 3d modeling stuff :)
Best of luck. I'm watching others make their dream game while I -procrastinate- ... I mean, do research on making my dream game.
We all have those phases, I think :) It's gonna be fine!
i a want to play this
*so, his quest began, to make goty *
Congrats with a successful 0th devlog! Here's an unsolicited advice to consider: Are the devlogs meant for other game devs? Or for your potential audience? When you spoke of the story/setting of the game, you still talked about the functions and roles of things, like saying The Isle of the Ancients will "serve as a tutorial", and next you talk about "learning the basics" and "finding the core items". These things are interesting to a game designer, or people who hold those interests, but not necessarily to a player. It's a good idea to consider if this is intentional, or if you want to change your video wording style (when talking about story or what's going to be fun about the game) towards something more like "you will face increasingly difficult challenges and gather equipment to help you discover the secrets of the Isle of the Ancients", without being explicit about "tutorials", "basics" and "core items". A lot of people who watch your devlogs may be your first wishlists, so consider appealing more to the players in your viewer base as well! /unsolicited-advice-over
That's a very good point that I haven't actively thought about so far. Devlogs have primarily had the individual effect of providing me with motivation, but I also enjoy talking about the progress of my projects. It makes sense that I should consider the target audience and different roles, although I haven't actually done so yet - so thank you very much for the suggestion.
I follow 1-2 larger German channels that have found a good balance between being technical and appealing to the "player" audience. I think I need to give this more thought and adjust the script accordingly before a devlog.
@@anbagames just so you are aware, there is also a large subset of people who enjoy watching these kinds of videos. People who are interested in game dev and the technical aspects, but they don't actually make games themselves and still enjoy the other aspects of the story/setting
Looks good but worried at the big scope you have set yourself
Looks great! I would suggest you to avoid using rootmotion and move and rotate character by code, this will save you a lot of trouble later. This may result in ditching certain mechanics, for example instead of slowly climbing up from ledge character will have to jump up from the ledge to stand up position, but believe, its worth it, especially if you're solo developer and it's a passion project. Fingers crossed!
Thanks for the tip! Yes, I do have some issues with root motion. I'm currently working on revamping the ledge climb, maybe I can show that in the next devlog :) Apart from the ledge climb, I haven't used root motion.
@@anbagames Good! Consider making ledge climb ,,jumpy" as in Mandragora or Jet Kave Adventure, this will save a lot of time when iterating animations or balancing time this state lasts - and such mechanic can rise a lot of arguments when testing. Even If you aim to make it look ,,realistic", think whether is it worth it to put time into it voluntarily, while balance and iteration will come obligatory.
