It All Started As A Game Jam - Indie Game Devlog #1
That scene at the end reminded me of Devil May Cry for some reason, that used to be one of my favorite games 😊
just wanted to say love the video and i always wondered how video game company's made the cloths physics work in real time and i didn't know they had bones for the specific part of the clothes on the chartcher and i always thought it was done more dynamically and in real time without using any types of bones on the clothes at all
The physics on her hair looks incredible too! Its the small touches that make a huge difference
This looks great but I have a burning question If the clothes have there own bones how does the characters bones manipulate the clothing items, the usual work flow I see is the clothes being patented to parts of the characters skeleton?
What engine is this?
A massive improvement would be to be able to set a multiplier for each bone (instead of a boolean for whether to include or exclude them), and then have it smooth out the values between the bones automatically. That way you could set the first couple bones to have a very low multiplier for the simulation, with the last couple being much more heavily affected. This would even help with doing things like a chain around a neck with a pendant on it, as the pendant would have a much higher multiplier than the rest of the chain, which would let the simulation automatically steer the whole chain based on where it thinks the pendant wants to go.
Looking damn great!! Also I thought I had to weightpaint each bone from its position to the end of its strain with a gradient, good to know that is not the case! Will try this out, big thanks and keep us updated!! Love it :D <3
better cloth behaviour than some big games!
Oh yes!
Nice feature
heheheh great marketing for magica cloth :)
We do love that feature!
Fantastic to see the character in game!
hello thank you for this tutorial. can you make a video on item drops and inventory? thank you
So damn good! No need to add feedback, the new animations, clothphysic look insane. Can not wait to see more <3
hmm i think this guy might be a zelda fam but im not sure 🤔
You are very skilled at what you do. The character and the animations look incredible, can't wait to see it all put together!
Oh, thank you very much! I really appreciate it 😊
loved it
This concept seems really interesting so far. I don't know if you have decided on this yet, but I actually think it could be really cool (though probably a bit challenging) to implement both the bird form and grappling hook and seamlessly transition between the two. Sure, it might seem a bit redundant, but with that wall-jump ability I can totally see myself stringing together some very awesome moveset combos off of the towers and mountains and tall trees that would just feel very satisfying to pull off. It'd just add that extra bit of creativity that I can add in my traversal throughout the world. In any case, very impressive work so far! From one developer to another, best of luck in your journey! :)
Hey, thanks a lot! That sounds like a lot of fun, but I need to see how the balancing works when there are so many movement mechanics. With a Spider-Man game on a huge map, I totally get it, but my open world won't be gigantic. I will definitely keep thinking about it! Thanks :) Good luck on your journey as well!
@@anbagames yeah, i can see where you're coming from! upon further reflection, i'm sure most might see what i originally posted to simply be too gimmicky in practice. just as well, I completely understand the need to make sure things are balanced! whatever you decide, i'm certain i'll enjoy it (though my fingers are crossed very tightly that i'll at least be able to turn into a bird... i love birbs)! I wishlisted your game when i originally posted my first comment and i'm very excited to see how it turns out! :)
What did you use to make the terrain?? Was it a blender addon
Hey, sorry for the late reply! I'm using MicroVerse by Jason Booth (Unity asset) for the non-destructive terrain workflow and I have a bunch of terrain stamps (also Unity assets) from Rowlan. Everything happens in-engine
cool
to improve your animation i would recommend using the software cascadeur that have really powerfull ai tool that add keyframe to make your animation feel less robotic and more alive
Thanks! I've used Cascadeur for all of my new animations 😊
I cant wait for the combat mechanics!
Oh wow the character looks so much better! Love the cloth physics. The attack animations are so good ❤ Can't wait to see the combat system in action 😊
Thank you so much ❤️
Damn, you're in the right path now, good luck and have fun with this project !
what the sigma?
ECM2 is great! I used the old version in my last game and this version is even nicer, easily the best options for character controller assets.
Yeah, ECM is a great asset and Oscar provides incredibly good support! I always recommend the asset when asked :)
More passion there than on D4 during release. 🤭
Looks amazing ! Looking forward to more updates and progress on the game!
Awesome! It's great to see that you put a lot of effort and passion into this project :)
Nice updates! New model and animations are looking way smoother!
Wow, das sieht wirklich gut aus. Es ist jetzt in der Top 10 auf meiner Steam Wunschliste.
Vielen Dank! 🙏 Das freut mich sehr :)
This looks great so far! I can tell how much love you're pouring into this project. How are you handling the music?
Thank you very much! The plan is to hire a composer for the music. But since I'm still in a very early stage, it will take a while
AYOOOO THIS LOOKS AMAZING MAN!!! i too am trying to make a Open world game, but i just cant get started, this has given me so much inspiration!
Thanks a lot! That’s awesome to hear. Wishing you lots of success with your project. Maybe we’ll see something from your game on your channel soon? 😊
@@anbagames heh, maaaybe xD im excited to try, just dunno how to start
It is looking amazing bro! Keep going!!
Name her dalyn
Assume he used Unity to create the game..
Yeah.... mine is not going so well... System.EntryPointNotFoundException: 'Unable to find an entry point named 'SteamAPI_Init' in DLL 'steam_api64'.'
What engine is this
Hey, I'm using Unity 😊
this is so cool. Keep it up!!!
Hello dev just for you to know, that will better for the game to let us choose our gender.
Reminds me greatly of recent Zelda games, beautiful artwork, player animation could use some work but this is the only of the devlogs I've seen so far so that might have been addressed by now. Either way looks great.
Thank you for the kind words! The upcoming video will feature a bunch of new and improved animations 😊
just added to whishlist, sr to say but the walljump animation seemed a bit ought
Thank you very much! Yes, I can understand that. For me, it's also difficult to decide which mechanic fits and which doesn't. In one of the upcoming videos, you'll see an improved version of the wall jump combined with climbing - I think it already feels very good in my playground scene 😊
super clear and easy to follow, thank you!
Great to hear!
You should make the chest come up from the ground to spawn in. Since the map is called Isle of the Acients.
Good idea!
A Grappling Hook is NEVER REDUNDANT…
Looks good but worried at the big scope you have set yourself
Can I ask you why you chose to go for unity and not unreal? I would like to start too and I was curious about your reasons. Also your development-experimentation approach looks very cool. Would you mind sharing something here and there through your journey?
Thanks a lot! Why Unity? Not a fan of blueprints and I know C#, those were the reasons back then and I've stuck with Unity since then. Sure! Any specific questions? 😊
@@anbagames thanks for the answer! Uhmm, I couldn't say specifically what. Maybe some pieces about various things could be cool. Like a little bit of the process you went through in making the character swim or attack for example, or just showing your test grounds more in depth. Actually even a few dev blogs (when you've got time) updating us a little bit on what you're doing should be interesting too. In the end just show what you feel like to, and good luck on your project ;)
@@vhals2052 There is already a newer devlog on my channel :) Will definitely post new devlogs in the future. But I only want to show exciting stuff and that sadly takes some time! :(
gorgeous art style!! Good idea to limit the scope so it will be manageable
This is pretty good for a solo dev
