Love bargains, thanks for your channel Dr. Lori. Great knowledge, I always learn something when I pass by. I’ve been into antiques since I was a 7 year old Grandchild dragging relics home from grandparents 2nd generation farm that mom and granddad would let me have.
I cannot believe I just TODAY found your channel. I watch many reseller videos, and I thought they knew it all, but in hindsight, going back and watching your older videos, they must have learned most everything from you! You are the expert, and I love your style and humor. Thank you for all your amazing information! Btw, I took an art history class in college as an elective, and it was one of my favorite courses (early 90s!). Thanks for posting about the gucci tie! Ties are easily one of the most overlooked sections in the thrift store. I have found 4 christian dior ties, 2 oscar de la renta ties, 1 pierre balmain tie, and 1 missoni tie- all vintage. All the info about vintage ties are conflicting. I would love to learn more about vintage ties in general (and I need to check out your website right after to learn more). Thanks!
I bought the book The Little princess's for my daughter when she was about five years old, she is now 27. I no longer have the book, lost it many years ago but it was in beautiful shape. I brought it in a second-hand store or library sale not sure which it was a long time ago and I used to buy a lot of books because we home-schooled. I purchase the book for her because I thought it was the little princess, like the Shirley Temple movie that she loves so much. A lot of people. My daughter look like Shirley Temple and my daughter was a big fan. Re that gorgeous cake plate hidden beneath the table…when I had a company come in & do an estate sale prior to my move, I learned by accident, that the people who helped set up the sale would HIDE things under draped tablecloths that they wanted. They would then be allowed to purchase them from the estate sale woman at half price on the last day. 🤬. Really ticked me off!!!

I’m having an argument with someone who feels she should have told the seller once you appraised it and given her more money. I said that makes no sense . The seller could have done some investigation and found out what it was really worth . I guess she thinks I’m being nasty by making a profit off someone’s ignorance. I say that’s what bargain shopping and reselling is all about.

I don’t agree with the $3,200 value you assigned to the Ruby/Diamond ring. No one would buy it for that price so I don’t think it’s valid. While $250 is a great find price, I think this ring would realistically sell on eBay for $425-$500 range.
You don't have to agree with me but the appraised value is based on what someone has PAID for a piece like that one. Whose list prices (which differ from values) are you relying on when looking on Ebay? are you assessing the entire market, not just Ebay, when you make this statement? I just finished a video about the huge mistakes people make by using Ebay to identify and price their items. It's not only ebay, but it's a problem for everybody. A million dollar diamond is only worth a million dollars…if someone pays a million dollars for it.
My values are based on what someone was willing to pay. They paid that much. An actual sales record. Thanks for watching.
The woman had alot of nerve trying to lowball the crystal cake plate from $8 to $5. Kind of low class.
