This makes me sick. I had an opportunity to buy TWO Gertrude Abercrombie surrealist paintings. I liked them soooo much. But the seller wanted $2500 each. I just kept quoting Emerson (as I often do in these situations) over and over: "A man is rich in what he can do without. A man is rich in what he can do without. " Later curiousity got the best of me so I logged onto the ol' interweb and saw how much they were worth! Of course they were sold by the time I went back a day or two later. :: trombone sound ::
One person's junk is another person's treasure, my mom always says. The Owl painting was beautiful and definitely a real bargain. How exciting for the treasure hunter, congratulations on an amazing find. I loved the cross, I am pleased to gain knowledge from you once again. I did not know purple meant worn by a clergy member. The cross was also beautifully detailed on the reverse side. Does that make it more desirable? Either way, the design was very intricate. Thanks for sharing your knowledge and stories with us.

Saturday afternoon I got out for a bit from this continued unpacking. I went to an antique shop that I visited just once before nearby my new home. I spied a pair of large turquoise color rhinestone glass emerald cut earrings by Kafin NY 1950's for my research, and they were still there. So I paid $14+tx. They're clip ons and very comfortable. I bought them to actually wear. The sellers asking prices that I found online later were $40-$100. I recently just thrifted a handmade signed 925 heart necklace replicating the tiffany necklace. I know it's not tiffany but it's silver and beautiful and I love it. Thankyou ❤
Some of us are spitting blood after seeing those bargains, DR Lori! I know I am. I mean, the surrealist painting alone: one can see that it's a surrealist piece. That it's of quality, the way it is painted. It's probably in it's original frame. it's dated. HOW could you go wrong? I would have had the cash out and bitched about those paint splashes and tried to take them down. But I would not have guessed it's $100K. I mean, it's not signed, "Leonora Carrington"! lol I also loved the gold Hungarian cross.
UGH! I bought 2 Goodwill Blue Boxes for a total of $110 with absolutely nothing of value in either bag... I am SO disappointed! 😫 Used the loupe, though! 😊 Love you and your videos ~ Amy ❤
Went to pick up a nice painting off offer up while there to pick up the woman showed me a house full of the most amazing art in pictures.. lamps.. textiles.. etc, a hoarders house filled with all sorts valuable stuff! I'm hinging on buying two paintings signed by Renaldo "Maya" 2 for 500. I'm a collector of Mexican art I think I need to buy them?

NO, I am not going to suddenly ask you, "What's it worth?!" lol. I have a little more class than that! I like your Royal Purple velvet (or velour) top! Question: do you think velour chairs and sofas, pillows with vibrant colors (or colors that stayed well on older furniture from the 70s) are currently en vogue? This also goes for Venetian Red velour curtains that are so long, they crumple all over the floor when they're hanging.

That Tiffany looked hideous. Sterling jewelry needs to be worn or washed. There is a difference between tarnish and patina and just plain old dirt.
