Plus, Atlas is physically the strongest of the titans, Poseidon and Hades had to team up to take him down while Kronos was getting his ass kicked by Hades alone. As for gods leaving things around, or unguarded or something, look at the stories of fire, Pandora's box, the blade of Olympus, etc. It happens a lot.
